As far as I know, babies can detect sour and sweet, but not bitter. The bitter zone of the tongue is right at the very back, while sour taste is detected in the sides. The doctor must have referred to the rear part of the tongue which detects bitterness. So yeah, Starley probably can detect the lemon-sour taste as much as we do.
