I have tried this and every single “hack” out there. Nothing worked for my little one. She still hated tummy time. Eventually I just gave up and our life’s became so much more peaceful! We started bonding more and hade happier days together. Now she is a happy 2 years old girl and have no problems with her motor skills. And she was not considered late in her development. I’m not saying it’s for everyone but it worked for us…

I just wonder, did people 10000 years ago put their babies on tummies? I guess not. But still they managed to grow up and be physical developed.

I read all the possible scientific studies on the benefits of tummy time. All pointed to the same conclusion: tummy time doesn’t give any long-term advantages. It does speeds up the motor skills development, but the difference lasts very little. Plus that the differences can be mostly observed between babies that do a lot of tummy time by being put to sleep on their bellies (yes, there still are parents that put their babies to sleep on their bellies!!), and babies that never do tummy time. However, babies that never do tummy time naturally develop the same motor skills soon, when they start crawling, so the long term benefits are still to be discovered. What does matter, according to the same studies, is to have the baby throughout the day in multiple positions by carrying and playing, and not leave them there forgotten in their crib for hours and hours. Anyway sorry for the essay here, I wish all the new parents and their babies all the health!💕

I have 8 kids. Tried tummy time with the first two. They hated hit so I didn't do it much. They hit all their milestones at the average time. Didn't worry about it with the other 6. They hit all their milestones fine as well.

Tummy time...what's the point of putting that blanket there?...first of all...they don't get natural "tummy time" anymore . Then you further decrease their natural development...let's make it to where they don't have to try..so WHATS THE POINT OF "TUMMY TIME"!

you sound dumb. rolling a swaddle or putting a boppy under them actually encourages them to lift their heads more - otherwise their heads will just fall straight forward. it just puts them more at an incline.

If baby is crying because of the position they are in or food they are getting try the position or food yourself. That hard floor with a thin rug thrown over it is still hard. Try laying on it and balancing your weight on your fore arms. Soon you will get uncomfortable and/or sore. I used to layer blankets on the floor and top it with a play pad. The whole thing was close to an inch thick. Next I would put her nursing pillow under her fore arms to lean on. Then I would set up her toys to give her something to look at.

In my view, TT is unnecessary. It makes babies miserable. Not worth it. Babies achieve the same results on their own. They are not going to be laying on their back forever. Not all babies are made to do TT and they turn out fine unless they have health problems.

They can’t. Too small yet. Expect head lifting by 5 months. You’re having too many expectation from a 3 month old. Don’t be disheartened. They all Come With their own body alarms. That’s when they do things on their own. Don’t push. It will happen.

I'm pretty sure it's not crying, and sometimes they have built up gas. Every baby is different too, maybe this little one didn't like it so much, it does kinda look bad to put that in when you're trying to say it works! But who knows. To me it almost looked like they were kinda smiling or something

But doesn’t that negate the reason you have tummy time? To build strength in neck, back and arm muscles? I made a big mistake with my kids who are now 22 and 18 by trying to make life easy for them. They now struggle dealing with the smallest problems. Struggle builds strength, physical and mental. Let baby use their arms to hold themselves up, that’s what tummy time is for.

There's just so much wrong with this comment that I don't even know where to start. I don't know if this needs to be said because it's so obvious, but giving them a pillow during tummy time when they're a few months old is not going to affect their work ethic when they're adults. There are many, many years in between, when their brains are actually developed enough to even consider the concept of "hard work", where you can teach them the values of "struggling to build strength". They're still building strength while using the pillow. It's not like having the pillow makes them not use their neck muscles; it just makes it a little bit easier. The whole point is to get them strong enough so that they can start doing it without the pillow. It's no different from giving a child a bike with training wheels until they can balance on their own, or reading words aloud to them until they can read it on their own. I don't know what you did specifically for your children, but the fact that you could look at an infant and say "he needs to struggle to build strength" is pretty disturbing. Sounds like you're overcorrecting the coddling of your much older children. Hopefully you're not doling out this advice to new parents in your life.

Tummy time is one of the things that babies do enjoy. Just pop them on a baby mat not a rolled blanket. Lay on the floor in front of them and talk to them. Or put them on the bed and sit on the floor and play and talk to them

@@user34user73 Me and everyone else I know. This back sleeping business didn’t start until at least the 90’s. I don’t think direct proof between stomach sleeping and increased risk of Sid’s has ever been established. We all sleep so much better on our stomachs or sides.
