Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds is one of the most prolific songwriters of all-time. Over the course of a career beginning in the late ‘70s, he has earned 11 Grammys while writing and producing over 26 No. 1 R&B hits. Babyface recently drew on his experience as the co-founder of LaFace Records to start a new music publishing group called Good Vibes. To discuss the new venture and his storied career, Babyface invited Genius’ Rob Markman to his Brandon’s Way studio in LA for the latest episode of ‘For The Record.’

I’ve been a Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds fan since the late 80’s. I got to say that you did a great job with this interview. You definitely did your homework on the man. You actually asked some really good questions. Not the typical questions that most ask when they interview him. Keep up the good work brother. I still hope that I can meet Mr. Edmonds one of these days.

Andre harrell actually told him to work with babyface after his song uptown funk, he went over to babyface house and worked there for 6 weeks on his 24k magic album.

The interview was amazing. I was always aware of After 7 music. I heard the name Babyface but didn't pay any attention. Now I can't get enough of Kenneth Brian Edmonds. Never knew his formal name. Now I know his name and I will become a member of his fan club as soon as I can find one. I adore Kenneth's talent and skills . Kenneth and his brothers have given us so much with their music.

After graduating from college, I drove across country to my new job LA in my brand new 🚗…I had only two cds at that time: Babyface’s “Tender Lover” and Tears for Fears’ “Songs from the Big Chair”. I wore those two cds 💿 out! I learned and sang every song on Tender Lover but my favorites were “Sunshine” and “Where Will You Go?” I knew then that Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds was that dude! To this day, I can hear a new song and I can tell if it was produced by Mr. Edmonds! I love his talent, generosity and humility.

Loved his music ever since I heard him with the Deele and Two Occasions, his own music career as well his career as a writer and producer is just epic. My favorite track of his is Take A Bow with Madonna. Kenneth’s backing vocals where perfection and so on point.
