Basically, it's either fascist or communist at that point. Or a return to the monarchy. But the democratic system couldn't really survive after that.

Weimar Germany was done and the country and the world would find themselves in a horror no one could have imagined.

Stopping to stare at Alfred Nyssen, with that giant ominous bear statue in shot. In the worst bear market in history. This is so beautifully staged.

Truly amazing scene in an amazing series! Can anyone please tell me the name of the song in this scene. I've been looking everywhere and it does not seem to be in the official soundtrack for this season.

And the best part is all this could have been avoided if a certain film had a decent review and not a thrashing at the box office. Man this show is wild.

This scene is really heart breaking and scary when you consider what is coming next. Should something have been done in regards to the stock market before it was too late? Could the world have prevented the Nazis from taking power? The ominous lighting in this scene suggests that if the German government was fucked up, what will happen next will be even worse and will taint Germany’s reputation for years to come, and future generations being left to clean up the mess caused by this. The Weimar Republic was incredibly fragile for the majority of its 14 year existence. My heart shudders considering that many characters could be killed off by the Nazi regime.

A wee bit melodramatic? Never seen the show. I'm guessing it makes sense in context.
@retro2103 Жыл бұрын
It is melodramatic yes, but I think the reason for it is because this entire season of the show revolves around Expressionist German cinema of the 20s. The way the guy at 0:48 is acting is right out of 'the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari'. Babylon Berlin likes to have these stylistic flourishes that reference German culture of the period, by not necessarily being entirely realistic.

@@retro2103 ok. I haven't watched it. I'll see about checking it out.
