There is a reason they call the fan base "the one", and "WE ARE babymetal". Because the connection and relationship with the audience makes babymetal concerts THAT more compelling. On one show, when it was only Su and Moa, the audience took part in singing all of Yui's lines in support. It was pretty emotional, honestly.

So, as a woman into metal, I love this song *so much*, especially because it's about a 15 year old girl going to her first metal show. The high pitched chorusy thing they are saying is literally "headbang" but it sounds more like "head-o-bang" with their accents. But anyway, this song captures all of the emotions involved in a girl going to her first show: first, the excitement!! -- then, the nerves -- then, YES, I AM ULTIMATE BADASS NOW --- then back to pure childlike excitement. From the perspective of a teen girl who is existing in that space halfway between being a child and being a woman. I have enjoyed watching these girls grow up with the badass Kami band to guide them, and watching their music evolve alongside them. I'm a firm believer that the Kami band has used Babymetal both as an interesting/strange experiment at first, and now (especially with their Metal Galaxy album) as a "safe" place to write more genre-crossing, strange, experimental music with a bunch of cultural influences outside of their own. The kind of music that would alienate other fans from other established bands, but that still has an audience because there are already fans of Babymetal's brand of strange.

And when brought into Japanese, Headbanger sounds a lot like Head-Ban-Gurl. A "Ban-Gurl" [Band Girl] is a female fan of a band (like a PG13 groupie)...so the Head Ban-gurl is like the leader of the fan club. They play with this pun in the song as the protagonist is both Head Ban-Gurl and a headbanger (metal fan for those who don't know that term)

Picking up about how in Japan they don't sing with the lead vocal is true, the funny thing with BabyMetal is that when they got big outside Japan and started touring the west they found out those fans were learning the Japanese vocals to sing along with her. That in turn led to them learning English and songs that they sing either entirely in English or as a hybrid.

This Legend 1997 concert version of Headbanger is awesome, - it's not the ending of the concert, but it is the beginning of the end. Together with Unfinished Akatsuki and Babymetal DEATH it forms a great finale and tells the story of Su's transformation into a metal goddess. So to get the full effect you should listen to them all in order. The concert was to celebrate Su's 16th birthday which was the day before and at the end, as Su climbs the stairs, you will see "Happy Birthday" written on the bassist's head. Earlier in the year Yui and Moa had celebration concerts for their 14th birthdays. Headbanger is a bittersweet coming of age story about a 15 year old school girl going to a concert and braving the mosh pit, while knowing the freedom of the moment won't last long and vowing to remember the night and the feelings. It's used to celebrate BM birthdays and both Yui and Moa have taken the lead in it for their birthdays. Yes there are references, puns and "easter eggs" all over Babymetal, In this concert you'll see lots of homages to Metalica and X-Japan. And also, yes, crowd participation is enormous in Japan in general and that goes for BM all over the world. There are online instructions for each song and part of Yui and Moa's job is to encourage and conduct the crowd. This almost symbiotic relationship is why you'll often see the ironic #notacult usage. Babymetal's songs are in lots of different styles, I think because it depends on who their producer, Kobametal, uses as a song writer and what is on his current playlist. If you want to be really confused listen to "Tales of the Destinies" which is BM doing Dream Theater inspired prog rock...seriously.

Thirding this recommendation! The full finale of Legend 1997 (Headbanger->Akatsuki (Unfinished ver.)->Babymetal Death) is one of the best moments in Babymetal history. If you feel you wouldn't have much to say about Akatsuki unfinished because you've already heard the song - though it is a quite different arrangement - then maybe you could do both it and BMD in the same video, since it seems you don't have any qualms about releasing longer videos. ;) I'd also like to suggest particular uploads of those two songs, because they have intro videos that are in Japanese, and the popular uploads don't have English subs. 53 minute reaction for a 5 minute long video. I know this has to be good. EDIT: Yeah this was great. You've probably been told this, but there are version of this song where Moa or Yui take the lead vocals for the second half of the song. And the most recent Moa version is arguably the best version of the song in my opinion. Su's more mature vocals followed with Moa's vocals and scream is just an absolute treat. I'm sure it will get requested at some point, but its called Moabanger. In terms of crowd interaction, they are absolutely incredible. You'll often see Yui and Moa(especially Moa) directly interacting with the crowd and breaking choreography, or adjusting their choreography just to give the crowd a show. I've said this before and i'll say it again, you need to see a Kami band intro.

Babymetal Death from this same concert (Legend 1997)..... a MUST. Trust me. It's legendary. And keep in mind as you watch these, this was there very first "big" concert. It was in 2013. There have been many "big" concerts since then, and they manage to one up themselves every time.
@papa_xan
@papa_xan 2 жыл бұрын
Many of the early big concerts, like this one, had a loose kind of story thread that accompanied the concert. Between songs they played short animated videos that added to the song(s) that followed. This song was the 3rd to last from this concert, and the three final songs comprise the unofficial Trilogy of Death that told the story of Su-metal battling the evil forces of the j-pop idols that are trying to destroy metal music. Headbanger represented the battle, the next song Akatsuki (unfinished version), that Su performed as a ballad, represented the nearing defeat of metal and Su-metal deciding she needed to be sacrificed to win the day. The final song in that trilogy, and the finale of the concert was Babymetal Death, an instrumental performance piece with a stage show that rivals anything the big metal bands were doing back in the day, and even went farther than most would have dared.

Another wonderful, insightful reaction. I knew that you'd find the initial chant grating. So many people do on first listen, myself included. In later performances the chant is done at a slightly lower pitch it works a lot better. Fans still mostly recommend this performance, though, because of how well it showcases the crowd engagement and production. This was not the closing number. There were two more songs after this. A piano-only version of Akatsuki (the "unfinished" version), and then the actual closing number, "Babymetal Death". If you react to that (and you absolutely should) you'll see how they managed to top this. Make sure you read the description on the video first, because it starts off with a spoken intro that gives context to the performance, and the English translation for that is in the description. The statue is definitely a Metallica nod, which is really obvious in that closing number. You might even be right about the X leap, to be honest. Let me tell you why. The song is about a fifteen year old girl going to her first metal concert. Their producer is a huge fan of X Japan and they make frequent references to X Japan, so he could very well have intended to imply that it was an X Japan concert. They make frequent use of a "sacred neck brace" in their lore which is in direct reference to when Yoshiki had to wear a neck brace during performances. Notably, this neckbrace was introduced as a Babymetal lore item as a part of the first live performance and music video for this song. Your theory isn't outlandish at all. (edit: oh yeah, and the gong is also a direct X Japan reference) A bit of trivia I think you'd really appreciate: when they first performed Headbanger at a big concert outside of Japan, Su-metal didn't even hesitate to turn the microphone towards the crowd at that moment in the song, and the mostly English-speaking audience shouted "Kiero!" back to her with the same volume and enthusiasm as a Japanese crowd. I can't imagine a stronger bonding moment between crowd and performer than taking that kind of leap of faith and having the crowd respond 100%. Wish I had been there.

"Kawaii Metal" is what the Japanese call this genre of music blending JPop and metal that Babymetal originated. Kawaii is the Japanese word for cute. I don't know if the X shaped jumping is referencing X-Japan but it is a distinct possibility - the original music video did have an X-Japan homage in it in the form of Su putting on a neck brace in reference to when X-Japan's drummer Yoshiki had to wear one while performing for a while after needing neck surgery. In their live performances (including this one) however, the neck brace tends to instead get incorporated into the song "Babymetal Death" (which usually opens their shows but for Legend 1997 was used to close out the show instead - and if you want a big theatrical ending definitely check it out: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLiTbMeTzM-mgH0.html ) Regardless whether the X shaped jumping is an X-Japan reference your gut was 100% right about the statue, it is a homage to Metallica And Justice For All. The song itself is about a young girl going to her first heavy metal concert on her 15th birthday BTW. They have a tradition where at the show's closest to Moa and Yui's respective birthdays at the midpoint of the song Su would hand off the Freddy Mercury mike stick (this is the only Babymetal song where they use that) to the birthday girl who would get to sing lead on the second half while Su switched off to the dancer role. Oh and really nice fake out on the score, making it sound like you were going to give it a lowish score and then giving it a 9.4 :)

Kudos for not only recognizing so many details, but actually remembering so much of the info you have been given about them in the comments! Regarding the audience, I think calling it a choreography is a bit much, but they / we certainly know when to jump, shout, make a fox sign or sing along with certain parts of the lyrics... hm, maybe it is a choreography. :-) But as you said, the most amazing part about it is that every single person in the audience is participating (I'd say it's less so with their Western audiences, but still far above your average band). It's one of the (many) aspects that still fascinate me every single time to this day. It's interesting that you are still having some problems with their unique approach, while at the same time admitting that it works. I think the pure fact that they are surprising you (and me as well, as the proved with the last album) again and again is a testament to their genius and versatility. And the surprisingly high score tells me you'll get there. It's time that someone noticed the smart way they are using the smoke cannons. I agree, they did a great job at enhancing the feel while not making it too obvious that most of it is not actually coming from the girls. And one word about the word "hedoban": This took me a moment to get used to at the beginnning as well. The thing about the (very common) use of English words in the Japanese language is that they are not even trying to pronounce them correctly. They just take the words and "japanize" them, meaning they adjust them to the sounds making up the Japanese language. So once you get used to it, you don't even perceive it as bad English anymore, it's just their way. And very often it actually sounds quite cute, so it totally fits those Japanese young girls. You may be on to something with the X jump. I don't think I have ever heard about it being an hommage to X Japan, but BABYMETAL love to put little nods like that into their music, lyrics and choreography. And X Japan is one of the bands they are honoring like that regularly (I don't remember whether you have come across the neck braces, and I think the "we are" that they often end their shows with goes back to them as well). You are certainly correct about the statue, though. BTW, the actual ending of the show does top the gong, but I don't think you are ready for that yet. :-) I also agree with what you said about them being a performance act. I love BABYMETAL's music more than I have ever loved any other music before, but I will readily admit that listening to the music is only half of the experience. There's so much more to their live shows, and what makes it even better is that every single one of those facets is executed brilliantly. That's why I believe that nothing else comes close, not even acts like Queen, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Rammstein or Pink Floyd. I think "Rondo of Nightmare" is the song that you'll put closest to "Road of Resistance", although it's very different once again.

Thanks for getting this one bumped up Maddie. Great reaction again Mr Heretic. It has probably already been said, but it was the gong in this performance that paid homage to X Japan and you really need to see (and react to) the performance from this same show (Legend 1997) of 'BABYMETAL Death' for another couple of homages to X Japan and Metallica (including what you thought about the statue ... yes you were absolutely right about it). Oh yes - that will absolutely confirm BABYMETAL are a live performance act. 'Headbanger' is about a gorl going to her first metal concert on her 15th birthday, but it is also a sort of growing up or coming of age thing - in Japan compulsory education ends at 15, so the girl in the song is realising she will no longer be considered as a child, those first 15 years have passed so quickly, so she is etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget. At shows on or near their own 15th birthdays, half way through the song Su ceremoniously handed the mic and stand to Yui and Moa respectively and they took over lead vocals for the second half of the song while Su took their place in the choreo, hyping up the crowd. This happened again at the legend M show, Moa's 20th birthday, in 2019 - with a change of lyric to "... this special night of my 20th ..."

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' is a classic early BABYMETAL song. It came out on July 4, 2012. At this point BABYMETAL were still the "Heavy Music Club" in the school themed Idol group Sakura Gakuin. The single promoted the album 'Sakura Gakuin 2012 Nendo: My Generation'. Even though it's about a fifteen year old girl attending her first big concert, Su was only fourteen when the studio version was recorded. Based on the lyrics, it sounds more like a Visual Kei, rather than a Metal show she was attending. At any rate, it's not too specific. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could relate to. At that age she was on stage, rather than taking the train to attend concerts. I'm really glad it was back on the setlist in 2019. It was great to finally hear it live on the last US tour. The Kami Band members for this concert were Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus on guitars. BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Since this song has some connections to X-Japan (including the neck brace used in the 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' music video and concerts), the "X" jump could well be yet another X-Japan reference. And many fans also believe the statue is an homage to Metallica's 'And Justice For All' tour, among other things. The fan participation is largely based on prompts from Yui and Moa, in their "Scream & Dance" role. Their "screaming" is usually more like chanting.

Thanks for the details on this. I had never really dug around for the origins of this song and what it was about. I went and watched the original 2012 video: "BABYMETAL - ヘドバンギャー!!- Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!! (OFFICIAL)" Apparently as the act got a lot bigger their budget for a full time support band and huge stage show got correspondingly bigger. They refined and improved the live act. The playing from the band got heavier and more virtuosic. The dance/cheer routine got a lot more embellished and the production went through the roof. I still get the feeling this song, at it core, is a cheerleading chant run amok though.

This song, Akatsuki unfinished (acoustic) and "DEATH are a legendary trilogy known by the ONe as, The Trilogy of Death. Imagine this hyped up crowed now coming down to connect with the story of Su Nakamoto sacrificing her "idol" self to the light to become Su Metal, Metal goddess and leader of the Metal Resistance. Followed by a theatrical ending that makes the likes of Alice Cooper and Styx seem dull by comparison. You really should do the next two songs (in concert) order to finish this show. It may be one of the most epic closings in Rock/ Metal history. 🤘🦊🤘 🤘🦊🤘 Their music is LOADED with homages and knods of respect to bands (particularly of the genres being infused into the different songs) that came before. I would not discount the X Japan reference as they idolize X-Japan as paving the road on which they embarked. There are many Metalica references you will pick up on if you finish the show. Many times there are actual music omages (sometimes subtle and hidden) sometimes overt written into the riffs. For example they have a ridiculously progressive song "Tales of the Destinies" that comes off as a Dream Theater styled piece - So complicated that it has only been performed once (Tokyo Dome) and Yes, there is choreographed dance throughout! . . .But amid the some 40 odd time signature changes you can pick out bits of songs by Yes, Rush, King Crimson and others. Koba-Metal (Their producer, hall of fame metalhead, and genious/ mastermind behind this project) has the greatest respect for what has come before and could teach Metal-theory and history at any music school on the planet. When you think Koba-Metal, think Jack Black in School of Rock. Here is this Metalhead/ producer who can't make a living promoting his metal bands because the idol industry is drowning out all other genres in Japan. To support his daughters, he finds himself working with the kids' idol division at Amuse entertainment. . .and creates "the heavy music club" a sub group of school based idol band, Sakura Gakuin . . . .no backing or support from up the chain. . in fact probably quite a few frowns and whispers of "we gotta get rid of that guy". . .lol. . .(consequently, Nobody is frowning now). In fact this whole thing is indeed a music theater project that should be seen as much as heard. The crowd interaction is indeed built in. That is why Babymetal refer to the fan base as "The ONe" and cheer, "We are Babymetal". It has been said in interviews this refers to the fans, the girls, and the Kami s as all together to create the experience that is Babymetal. They view the audience as part of the band. It's Friday night in Japan. I came home from my work, had a drink for dinner, came back to my room, and this video had dropped. 53 minutes, but I did my best to watch it! I'm not very good at English, and I was drunk, so I may not have understood it well. I don't want Su-'s singing ability to be lumped in with that of ordinary J-pop singers, ha. Some Japanese fans say Su-'s nasal resonance singing is comparable to that of a top-notch Enka singer in Japan, or even a church choir all by herself. I guess her soprano voice is a vocal style that doesn't exist in existing Metal music, but I think it is because she is the one who can achieve this mismatch. And then, I'm a newcomer, having become a fan just before the Corona disaster, 2019, and I have yet to attend their live shows. I'm embarrassed to write about them like this, but they are a great live band. I've been watching their live videos. It's no wonder they are so theatrical (not bad meaning). The dancing, the lyrics, the playing, the call-and-response, I think it all comes together. I am sorry for drunk and thank you from Japan.

There goes my 53:06 lifetime, not a single second i feel bored of it, probably it was the longest review of Headbanger so far, congrats. Actually it wasn't the end there, instead it was the beginning of the so called "Trilogy of Death" UNOFFICIAL by fans. Consists of 1. Headbanger 2. Akatsuki UNFINISHED version, totally different version from what you already did. 3. BABYMETAL DEATH. Lets see how you handle this song, Many of your questions will be answered here, this is the last song of LEGEND 1997 concert. 9.4 is a great score, thank you for this and keep them coming, cheers.

You're put off by Headbanger-thingie, because they're a genre-transcending band, putting in elements from wherever the producers/songwriters wants to get it from. They're hard to put in a box, they were constructed like any J-pop-band, and they're not embarrassed by this, and have no problems showing it. This is teenage-japanese girs' take on heavy metal, and whatever middle aged white men might think about that is something they don't care about at all. -and when we old men let go of our prejudices, we're swept away by their chram and skill :)

Great & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 Two comments : (1) Stage generals in cute girls' form can get audiences wrapped in their hands in any country and crowd interaction similar to what you saw occur wherever they go on this planet. (You can find it in myriads of fan-cams filmed in 2019 US tour and 2020 Europe tour) (2) Talking about stage production, you will be definitely shocked if you see videos filmed in this year's 10 BABYMETAL concerts. That has surprisingly evolved beyond people's imagination. (You can not, however, use the video for your reaction because it will get blocked)

You going to be pissed off with some songs with the jpop sounding vocals but listen to full song before judgement it works . Being a Metal/Rock fan since 70s and 80s i got fed up with growls and screamo singing being the main thing . BabyMetal was a breath of fresh air to what had become a stale genre but that's just my opinion. You not seen them going full on getting the fans even more hyped . "Try Catch Me If You Can " at Legend 1997 (this show ) or Yui and Moa doing there Duo as Black BabyMetal Song 4 at Black Night at the Budokan or any of there 4 songs as a duo and yes they are a performance Band they need to be seen . The Black Market tickets is none existing with BabyMetal in Japan the One Members enter a lottery for a ticket and they have a photo of you on record and you show your passport on entry to prove its you also tickets for One Members go on sale before General ticket sale outside Japan so fans get tickets .Ps Gimme Chocolate and Doki Morning are so much fun live 😁🤘🦊🤘

Another good reaction/breakdown, David. I'm glad you were able to set aside your knee-jerk reaction to the beginning of the song and enjoy it for the masterpiece it is. I absolutely agree with what you said about simplicity being a powerful thing when used well, and that's one of the many reasons I love this song. Babymetal has a lot of more musically complex songs that are amazing - Road of Resistance, Amore, Tales of the Destinies, etc. - but this is my favorite of all their songs. It just hits all the right notes, and hits them hard. :) This was actually the third-to-last song from this show, and I sincerely hope you'll check out the next two songs from it in order: Akatsuki (Unfinished ver.) and Babymetal Death. This finale is honestly one of the best performances I've ever seen, and that includes contenders like Queen at Live-Aid and Metallica's 1989 Seattle show. If you do end up watching those, you should know that they both feature intro videos that are entirely in Japanese, so it might be a good idea to either look up translations beforehand or use the links I'll leave in a reply comment here to watch YT uploads that have English subs.

Nice review. This was one of their first songs, and it was off their first album. Because they were very young, a lot of the songs on the first album have much more “cuteness” to them. They are age appropriate. The only exception on the first album is “Rondo of Nightmare”, which is a no-holds-barred metal song. Anyway, the simplified point of this song is as follows. It is about a young girl attending her first metal concert on her fifteenth birthday. She is amazed at the headbanging. So ultimately it is a metal concert seen through the eyes of a young girl.

WOW! That was a whole experience rather than a reaction! 9.4? Awesome! That list of people suggesting you this one cannot be wrong... and thanks for the shout-out. This was not the final number that night (although they have used a similar scene on other shows). But this time it was a little more... "special". After this one they plates an acoustic version of "Akatsuki" (aka unfinished version) and the closing number was "BABYMETAL Death". I believe you need to watch both in this order. You are actually more right than you think about the statue and the homages they pay. The fate of the statue was revealed at the very end of "BABYMETAL Death". And we certainly won't "crucify" you for guessing that... Hahaha... About the song itself: "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" is about a girl who attends to her first metal concert on the night of her 15th birthday and that causes a great impact on her. That is the age of the end of the compulsory school in Japan so young people have to make some relevant decisions at that point. So this is actually about coming on age and leaving the childhood behind. Not a biographical theme because this is a pretty early song and Su-metal performed it for the first time when she was only 14. This performance is impressive and not only because the girls and the Kami Band skills and precision (it's actually their thing) but also because the crowd interaction. Their crowd control is insane! Here are the links for the show ending songs: "Akatsuki" (Live at Legend 1997 unfinished version): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p852f7Kqlp_RqHU.html "BABYMETAL Death" (Legend 1997 with subtitles, without spoilers): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jKtjZ9CD1c-agZ8.html (remember to activate the subtitles for the intro) Until next time!

So finally finished watching this. Great review. Interesting observation about the childishness of the song's start. It's fitting because the song is about a young girl going to a metal concert the first time. Based on this, you might want Babymetal Death from this same concert. I'll add my name to that list for this one then. Absolutely awesome that the stopwatch is now gone for this. :)

I hadn't really thought about it before, but their "x" jumping could be an homage to X-Japan! In the music video version of this, Su receives a neck brace, which IS an homage to X-Japan. The phrase they are repeatedly chanting at the beginning (and again later) is "Hedoban, hedoban, hedoban, hedoban," which is Japanese for "bang your head, bang your head, ..." The giant Mary statue is, as you surmised, part of an homage to Metallica, too. If you watch the "Babymetal Death" video from this same concert, it becomes obvious! Babymetal Death was the actual last song of this show. By the way, kudos for being one of the few people I've heard correctly pronounce "homage," lol!

BABYMETAL is just amazing all around. The music, the girls, the band, the production team, everything they do is top notch. Seeing BABYMETAL live is just a whole new level of entertainment. I will see them when they tour again but the ultimate bucket list is to see them in Japan. I love when the crowd shouts the rest of the Lyrics. Su sings "all the crybabies" and the crowd shouts "get out of here". Or something similar. I am sure someone will reply with the lyrics and meaning of this song. Also, I love love love how much fun Moa has with that Cryo gun. She looks so mischievous with the enjoyment on her face. It isn't easy to notice because of the camera work, but when Su did that finally shout she blew Yui and Moa across the stage with her power :) they had to run back to her. As other's have said. Actually I don't know wether their jumps are an homage to X-Japan but it actually would make sense, considering "headbanger" is definetly inspired by X-Japan and their drummer who had to wear a neckbrace for headbanging too much. The neckbrace is actually part of BABYMETAL's imagery and lore. As for the statue... You may be onto something... But you will need to react to BABYMETAL DEATH from that show (Legend 97) to find out ;). That will probably blow you away aswell. Since you like theatrics, you shall be served on that one. You wanted to know how BABYMETAL closed this concert... Then I think the next reaction is gonna be priceless. Lol. I'll be happy to hear my name on your list for the next video with that BABYMETAL DEATH request :). Great reaction. I think you'll end up surprised some day, when you listen to Gimme Choco again, that it won't actually hurt your earbuds as much as the first time around. I came around to that song only months after hearing it the first time. And believe it or not, Gimme Choco live is one of their hardest hit. The song is a iron fist inside silk gloves. I almost didn't survive that song when they played it live. PS : Oh and about your pros & cons part, totally agree with you. Only I would say your cons are what for me differentiate BABYMETAL from the rest of the crop. I think it's funny how like some of my friends who aren't really into BM they will sometimes go randomly "hedoban hedoban hedoban hedoban ban ban ban ban". That shit sticks in your head wether you like it or not xD. If you don't, it's ok but if you do, for me it's just the "fun" aspect of BABYMETAL. I think it's those things that set them apart (amongst other things) and that's what I like about it. It's fresh, daring and unapologetic. I was surprised by your score though, in my head I was imagining a 8.5 or lower :).

Legend 1997 Apocalypse concert is a celebration of Suzuka Nakamoto (Su- Metal) 16th Birthday 🎉 or Seitansai @ the Makuhari Messe. Headbanger (Babymetal song):- "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" (ヘドバンギャー!!, Hedobangyā!!) is a single by the Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. Released in Japan on July 4, 2012 in promotion for the album Sakura Gakuin 2012 Nendo: My Generation, the single serves as the third single from the debut album Babymetal. It is also the band's first solo audio release to be released commercially. •Single: Babymetal. •Album: Babymetal and Sakura Gakuin 2012. •Nendo: My Generation. •Language: Japanese. •Released: July 4, 2012. •Genre: Power Metal, Heavy Metal. •Length: 14:44. •Label: Juonbu. •Songwriter: Edometal, Nakametal, Narasaki. •Producer: Kobametal. •Narametal: (arrangement). Babymetal singles chronology:- "Babymetal / Kiba of Akiba": (2012) "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!": (2012) "Ijime, Dame, Zettai": (2013) Background and release:- Unlike previous tracks released by the band, which had her vocal recorded in segments within the songs, Nakamoto had her lines recorded in a single take several times. She had been told to sing and find a story within the music. By the time she had comprehended the story behind the lyrics, she grew capable of singing the entire song naturally. When Mizuno and Kikuchi listened to her shouting "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" for the first time, they felt as if they had seen another cool side of her, surprised by the vocal power. Additionally, the single introduced the members to the whispering style of singing, with the A-side's "Kiero!" (Disappear!) and the B-side's "Uki Uki Midnight". Kobametal was inspired to use it to contrast traditional death growls. "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" was announced as a single on April 27, 2012, with a release date set for July 7, 2012. The single was released in two versions: a standard edition, available via CD and digital formats, and a physical limited Hedo-ban ("Head edition"), which contains a CD and a "neck corset" (actually a cervical collar) for headbanging training.[5] Both editions of the single feature the songs "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" and "Uki Uki ★ Midnight" (ウ・キ・ウ・キ★ミッドナイト, "Exhilarating Midnight"), along with instrumental versions (labeled as "Air Vocal ver."). The standard version contains an enhanced CD with a bonus music video of "Babymetal Death", which can only be played on a computer. The artwork of the standard edition depicts a lyric in the song, specifically when the girl is headbanging with the corset, with the crimson-colored moon in the background, as well as the band name appearing at the top. The limited edition artwork depicts a temple scripture of the "Corset of Legend" with the song title spelled out in the middle. Before the physical international release of the song, its title was written ambiguously as either "Head Bangya!!" or "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!", the latter of which is officially used in the international re-release of Babymetal and all future releases. The music video uploaded to the band's KZfaq channel initially had the former name, though it was switched to the latter in 2015; the version uploaded by Toy's Factory consistently retained the official title. Tekina Remix:- During the live performances Legend "D" Su-metal Seitansai at Akasaka Blitz on December 20, 2012, and Legend "1997" Su-metal Seitansai at Makuhari Messe on December 21, 2012, a remix titled "Night of 15 mix." was performed, containing more elements of electronic music. The former took place on Suzuka Nakamoto's actual fifteenth birthday, while the latter was the opening song for the concert. Remixed by DJ'Tekina//Something, the song was later released as part of Social Reform promotional editions of the single "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", and later appeared on DJ'Tekina//Something's remix album Kawa-EDM (2016), re-subtitled as "Tekina Remix". No Rain, No Rainbow is a direct homage to X-Japan's song Endless Rain. It even has that word in the lyrics. A really good Sumetal solo you should check out.

you are so right about how Babymetal does a show. even this show had a meaning. the opening to this show was actually this song dubstepped and more dancers. this whole show was to show Su as a J-pop princess ending and with each song of this show, she changes to a metal goddess at the end. the song after this was Akatsuki-unfinished and it starts where she falls down. it is not the same version you saw. this version is just the piano and Su. the song is about her accepting her fate to die. the next song was Death where she is transcending into being a goddess. it that song she is actually crucified and reborn. the statue is like virgin Mary but with Su's face on it. yes the statue is a tribute to Metallica and the opening riff is to them also. Death is definitely a metal performance like no other. you havent even begin to get into how many styles Babymetal does. one song that will trip you out is iine. it is pop, rap, and metal all together in the same song. you have to see that one from Wembley. Doki Doki morning was done this year and you need to revisit that song but live version. you havent even seen anything yet. to me every song is good or great. not many bands can have so many songs and be good with all of them. enjoy your journey.

An absolutely fantastic review sir. I request your next one be : Babymetal - Rondo of Nightmare Live @ Budokan Black Night. video uploaded by Kawaii Metal. (little to no chance of getting blocked- also the best version) Note- this, Like Akusuki, has a band intro where they all take solos, then Su comes out solo and tears it up.I will also hit you up on Patreon.

I don't know about that "rude in Japan to sing along point" I've been to over a dozen concerts in Japan and most of the show the crowd sang along. To the extent that in many of the shows i could spot the headline act in the crowd signing with their opening act. You're right about it being like the Rocky horror picture show where you better know what's going on. Even the most mellow chill pop acts have crowd participation segments. Concerts are a blast in Japan

I definitely have to say if you get a chance to see this band live, just do it, the performances they do live are insane and yes babymetal is telling a story through their songs its a story about a spiritual battle of good and evil and you can see this with road to resistance's lyrics

Kagerou, Syncopation, Catch me if you can, BxMxC, PaPaYa. Yes there’s plenty more songs I love and I’m sure they are listed here or there. Keep rocking and enjoy the music. DH.

That was a really enjoyable and interesting reaction, thank you! And I totally get what you're saying about BM being a live act - I almost never listen to their studio recordings and almost always watch their live shows instead - the choreography, lightshow, pyro (and the crowd!) etc just add so much to the songs, it's insane. I guess you're probably right about the X Japan homage, and the Metallica reference is definitely there (as to be seen in the last song of the show, "BABYMETAL Death").

X Japan is one of their bigger influences and the neckbrace you see at the beginning and the end of this show is a hint to X Japan as well. So your reference might not be all the 95% wrong. On newyears eve 2020/21 they performed a song together with Yoshiki from X Japan (and many others) at one of the biggest annual shows in Japanese television. You can find this performance on the official KZfaq channel of Queen for a reason. SU-METAL (Suzuka Nakamoto) just got chosen as #6 of the best female metal singers of all time by Guitar Lobby. On a list like that of course she is by far the youngest. But it is where she belongs. You are right with your feeling. BABYMETAL's albums are considered as a kind of flyer or soundtrack for their true business. They are a live act. One of the best on this planet, as proven by several international awards.

This was the 2nd to last song of the concert. If you thought this performance was good, you gotta see the ending to the show called Death Legend of 1997. It’s almost 100% the band going crazy and performance art. There’s even a secret if you make it towards the end of the song 😏😏 something crazy happens on stage

I imagine someone put it in the comments already but the music video for this song plays a huge homage to xjapans drummer who had to where a neck brace after surgery from head banging too hard. They went on to feature that neck brace in the lore of babymetal quite a bit.

Great reaction (if you want to call it that lol) again. That song shows not only the evolvement of Babymetal (from being childish at the start to become more mature at the end) but also a lot of references to X Japan and Metallica (as you were correctly assuming^^). The show was indeed a celebration of Su-Metal's 16th birthday. Next should be "Death" from the same show which was used as the closing song (it usually was used as an opener but on this occasion, it was more fitting at the end). I am looking forward to that reaction! kitsune up!!!!

Thats the way it is with babymetal. There are some songs you will love, Some songs you will strongly dislike, and a few that you will feel in between about. Because that’s what babymetal is, a combination of Heavy metal and j-pop. There’s not a lot of in-betweens. They do have quite a bit of heavy songs and several songs that are really heavy but almost all of them are gonna have that pop element to them but eventually you get used to it and appreciate the creative idea of babymetal🤘🤘
