"Yo yo yo yo. Microphone check. One two one two. Are you ready to mosh? Kitsune da o." Haha, this has to be one of the best reactions to Iine I've seen (and a lot of them are great fun). Well done on spotting your mistake with the song title so quickly - most people never realise or get what they are singing at all. Iine means "so good", like the thumbs up emoji. Also spot on with your "What genre do you want it to be? All the genres! We're gonna pick all the genres and mash them all up into one song!" This was only their second single (but their third song) and they were establishing very early on they weren't going to be pigeonholed and they were going to do whatever the hell they felt like doing. This is such a good live song too, but you did right watching the MV first and seeing that costume change.

The lyrics talk about how it is "so good" (iine!) to be at a party and leave the everyday cares and worries behind for awhile. The music backing also follows what you might hear over the course of the evening going from techno/rave/pop to hip hop to heavy metal and back around again.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 👍 Most reacters get the song title wrong, but you were quick enough to figure it out once it started. : ) One of the best metal rave hip-hop party songs ever written. : ) Possibly the most controversial BABYMETAL song. Some folks love the rap and wish that whole bit was retained. Others found that bit cringey and are happy it was replaced with an audience call and response. They brought this one back when they toured with The Red Hot Chili Peppers in Spring 2017, but haven't played it since then.

I'm glad you noticed that Rick 😁 I really think the rap is the best part of this whole song. It saddens me that they removed it for future performances. It may be cheesy but its also innocent because of how young they were

It's "ee-né" not "Line" (iine!) ... 😅 ... I love this song from the 1st album yes... very early song. I begun loving "Catch Me If You Can" so much that I really wanted to listen to more Babymetal and when I first heard "Iine!" I thought to myself "Nah... I will never like this one for sure" ... then I started loving it as well as everything else. Slowly... but once I saw the "Live In London" concert at The Forum, I was so blown away with "Iine!" that I didn't care if it sounded so "party-techno-thing"... it was Babymetal and that seemed to be enough for me at the time... That first album it's a big big chaotic mesh and it's brilliant. It's one of my all time fav albums forever. As for "Iine!", I came to enjoy the Vega Mix more than this "regular" one... but just because I prefere the Yui x Moa dialogue in the middle more... with the "So desu ne" instead of the "Kitsune da-o" ... anyway... Yui Mizuno, how I miss her... Moa here is so cute as well.. Good lord... I love these moments of Babymetal. Kawaii-Chaos!!! It's Crazy and Fun... great reaction (these early Babymetal videos always provides us good reactions right?) PS - Detrucci, you REALLLY need to watch "Iine" live in London 2014... it's a very small venue (compared to what they are used to do now...) but it's really hard-core Babymetal stuff... It starts off with "BABYMETAL DEATH" and right after completely dominates the crowd, it jumps to "Iine!" and the kawaii meltdown just starts... it's epic and always makes me wish for a Time Machine to actually live that moment, that year, that concert, watch Yui being the most kawaii creature in the world... anyway, try to watch at least "Iine!", it's so so awesome!...

Hehe, I totally agree, the tiny „Yo“s and the colourful outfits are the most adorable thing ever. And thumbs up for recognizing the correct song title! There’s a high chance that we‘ll never see this song performed again. I‘m still hoping that one day they‘ll surprise us with a show that includes all those old gems (perhaps they would have at their 10th anniversary?). The Hip Hop part in its original form has only been performed for a very short time, they soon replaced the Hip Hop vocals with a crowd interaction part.

"So good. So good. The party under the night sky. So good. So good. I'm bursting with energy, so for now I'll mosh. Holding back is impossible. Yeah, yeah. It's too transcendent. It's perfect. Gals are supposed to be super-chaotic dreamers." Hey Detrucci! Good reaction! Don't feel bad about falling into the "Line" trap, most reactors do! It's actually kind of an in joke in the fandom. This song is so deceptive and crazy, but that's the point of it. Starting out with the EDM, switching it up to hip-hop, then arguably the heaviest metal drop ever! It's meant to be chaotic and crazy. This is one of their earliest songs as you noticed, but it's really fun. Unfortunately it hasn't been played live in a long time....

I'm binge-watching your BABYMETAL reactions today and must mention that they finally played IINE again during their tour of Asia. There are fan cams on KZfaq. I hope to see you return to doing reactions sometime in the future because I'm really enjoying them and BABYMETAL also released a new album 2.5 months ago. I think there are still many songs you haven't checked out. There are also new performances of previously heard songs, like Doki Doki Morning at Budokan 2021. 😃 There is something special about seeing them still perform songs like Doki Doki and IINE. We've seen them do it when they were literally 12 years old and now we're watching them do it again 13 years later, amazing group! Based on what I've seen, there will be some mind blowing performances of Karate and Doki Doki Morning to watch later this year once the new Blu-rays are released. 😉

"All the genres!" Heh. Yeah, exactly. I'm glad you saw the official video because in later live versions the hip hop part was changed to a call-and-response section which was doubtless fun for the audience but, to my ears, detracts a little from the flow of the song. One might say that Iine!! was an early experiment that paved the way for much later songs like DA DA DANCE and BxMxC. Both of those tracks fuse metal/dance/rap more seamlessly, but in Iine!! the startling transitions are kind of the point and the fresh, joyful, party-time energy is infectious. I can tell you felt it. Great reaction. Cheers!

I’ve been watching your channel for months now, but it feels like it is becoming the BabyMetal channel. And you’re not alone. Other channels are also lately so in love with this group, and frankly I don’t get it. Yeah, they’re cute. And yes, they do play well. But then so do many other metal bands. Are their lyrics particularly profound? Is it just the novelty factor? Cute girls playing heavy metal? And I can really pass on the schoolgirl look. That is something very Japanese.....the innocent schoolgirl look is considered terribly sexy. Maybe that’s it.....I’m a woman. But seriously....what am I missing here? I’m very open to being educated by you all. Lay it on me.

"Don't think. Feel." This was what the lead singer said when they were first finding out about metal and trying to work out where they fitted and what it was all about. This was how she worked out what metal was about and how it should be performed and experienced after seeing Metallica for the first time. Obviously the contrast between the vocals and aesthetics and the metal instrumentals is a part of what makes them what they are, but look beyond the cuteness and listen to how well crafted every song is (some were years in the making), watch the effort they put into every performance of every song at every show - there is a lot of heart and real talent in everything they do, they are not just cute girls prancing about with distorted guitars backing them. Find some of the songs that really show off the lead singer's vocal talents (the whole thing was formed around her) or performances that display their stage craft and how they get the whole audience (not just the first 10 rows, just about every person in venues of any size from 150 to 55,000 capacity) fully involved and hanging on and reacting to every word, every dance move, every motion of a hand or every look or smile they give. There is a very deliberate policy in everything they have ever done about it not being sexy - they were children when they started, they have always been age appropriate and modest in the way they dress so no skin on display, no dubious or provocative dance moves, no crotch grabbing etc etc whatsoever, no questionable subject matter in the songs. That sort of thing can be left to the acts and performers who need to do it to sell their records, BABYMETAL is not one of those acts. Don't worry about the lyrics (although some songs are very profound and have a very positive message, check Du-metal's blog site for the best translations together with cultural and explanatory notes if you care to look into them - others are just fun). Listen to what they are doing - there is no other band in the world who blend so many different styles and genres with the metal instrumentation (and that is of the highest quality played by the Kami Band, some of the very best session musicians Japan has to offer) and they make it work. They never get boring playing the same sort of song in the same style or stick to the one genre the way most bands do. Their live performances are not just concerts, they put on a show and a performance every time they go on stage - and they do it with a smile and do all they can to make it the best experience for everybody who has come to see them. They didn't win so many international awards for things like best live act because they were cute. They have decided metal doesn't have to be angry or bitter, it can be joyful and entertaining and it doesn't have to follow the same old format that every other band uses. Every song is different, they play virtually every metal genre and mix in countless other musical styles and genres with the metal. They are doing something new and unique and for a lot of us who had quite frankly got bored with what was on offer, with there being no originality, nothing being done that we hadn't seen thousands of times before, they have rekindled our interest in music and got us rediscovering and listening to our old favourites, they even got us looking for and finding other bands we may have never found ... and a lot of them are great so we are grateful for having us do that too, but still none of them can do what BABYMETAL do. I hope that helps explain a bit at least.

Grington300 300 wow...that took time and thought, so thank you! You obviously love and respect them, and you also obviously love good music. You speak of becoming bored with what was out there, and I was wondering if you’ve delved into symphonic metal? Nightwish? I discovered the genre only last year and truly respect the genre and specificity that band. I also discovered Aurora .....with her crystal pure voice and emotive style and great songwriting. Don’t know your age, but if you are younger, you might find inspiration and diversity by delving back into the classic period....sixties and seventies....huge diversity of genres...huge talents across the board. Thank you again for your time...,I do appreciate your sharing your knowledge of the band....I’ll give them another look. Take care.....

@@helenespaulding9372 Thanks for your reply too. Sadly I remember living through the sixties and seventies, but you're right and a lot of the music and talent was great back then and I saw some of the great bands live as well. I can certainly appreciate symphonic metal, but it isn't my personal favourite thing (even though I was well into prog rock - among other things - when I was a lot younger and there are definitely some similarities with some of what I used to listen to). I've only heard a bit of Aurora and I was going to listen to more as what I heard so far was good - and interesting. If you are willing to give Babymetal another look allow me to suggest a couple of songs that may suit your tastes more than some other songs you may have heard. This is 'Shine' and is my own favourite track from the latest album vimeo.com/404036777 An earlier song (they were playing it before the first album in 2014 but Su wasn't satisfied she was doing the song justice emotionally - it was included on the second album in 2016) is pretty much an 80s power ballad called 'No Rain, No Rainbow' and it is an homage to 'Endless Rain' by X Japan. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pqqXpNJny8nQmY0.html This was at the concerts celebrating her 20th birthday in December 2017. Finally, don't watch this if you don't have 20 minutes, but this is actually 2 songs that share themes. vk.com/video408956197_456239019 The first is 'Tales of the Destinies' and is full on prog metal (think Dream Theater - it is another homage), it then runs into 'The One' which is an extended version of another ballad - in English and their thank you to the fans they had seen while touring who had clearly been learning Japanese to sing along with them ... the sing along bit probably drags on a bit just for a casual listener, but it was the finale of the first night at their biggest shows to date at Tokyo Dome where they sold out two nights running, 55,000 people each night, so for the occasion I think it was excusable.

Grington300 300 you and I might be similar in age....I’m 73 and was in college in the late sixties, so that was the soundtrack of my youth. If you dig prog, you would probably like Marillion? If not familiar, try Sugar Mice in the Rain. I also have grown to highly respect Tool and Puscifer...I’ve also been inspired by Robert Plants work.....especially his last two albums....love the melding of western and North African rhythms and scales. For Aurora...try Soul of a Child...live...

@@helenespaulding9372 You have a few years on me (61), but one of my brothers is the same age as you - he was into Buddy Holly and Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs was (maybe still is) his favourite thing. Marillion were inspired by one of my old favourites Genesis (before Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett left). I saw them many times, I also saw Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin at Knebworth in 1979, that was good. I will have a look at that Aurora track, thanks. I forgot to say, if you still don't get Babymetal that is fine too - we all know they are not for everybody, but please do try to look beyond the 'cute', there is a lot more to them than that and they have been a breath of fresh air for me and many others. It is also nice to see girls who have achieved so much but remain the sweet and humble girls they were right from the start.

> "Diese Musik ist doch eine beleidigung für jeden Metal Fan" Das Glaube ich nicht, Tim... (um mal ein berühmtes TV-Zitat zu bringen). Ich finde es eher beleidigend, das Du alle Metal Fans (inklusive mir) für ein solch humorloses Pack hältst. Das zeugt zumindest von einem doch sehr beschränkten Horizont...

iine! ist sicherlich nicht Babymetals "metalligster" Song (aber einer ihrer spaßigsten :-). Einfach mal "Babymetal Death" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLiTbMeTzM-mgH0.html oder "Sis.
