Babymetal (Japanese: ベビーメタル, Hepburn: Bebīmetaru) is a Japanese kawaii metal band consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto as "Su-metal", Moa Kikuchi as "Moametal" and Momoko Okazaki as "Momometal". The band is produced by Kobametal from the Amuse talent agency. Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the "Kami Band" at performances.
The band was formed in 2010, with the original lineup of Su-metal (vocal and dance), Moametal (scream and dance), and Yui Mizuno as "Yuimetal" (scream and dance), with the concept of creating a fusion of the heavy metal and Japanese idol genres. Originally a sub-unit of the Japanese idol group Sakura Gakuin, Babymetal became an independent act in 2013, following Nakamoto's departure from Sakura Gakuin.

You get it 😁 "they don't play instruments there singers" thank you for saying that 👍 a lot of the hate about them says that "but they don't play there own instruments" especially from some of Bands fans you mentioned.. you may hit or miss with BabyMetal some songs you may be not so in to but I think some you will 😁 as you noticed BabyMetal are very theatrical the best live band in my opinion . The only thing most BabyMetal fans want is respect for BabyMetals talent if anything is not your cup of tea move on to a different song and try that . Enjoyed your reaction welcome to the foxhole 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

Welcome back.🦊This isn't bubblegum pop on metal - 'Awadama Fever' is their song about bubblegum.😁 They also have songs about chocolate, spicy papaya fruit salad and they mention liking fried squid arms in another. 'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday (although Legend 1997 was Su-metal's 16th birthday party in December 2013). You got it, Su, Moa and Yui (Yui left in 2017-18 and since last year we have Momoko in the third spot) are vocalists and dancers. They don't play the instruments just as the singers with Lovebites, Band Maid and thousands of other bands don't play their own instruments. The more toxic and bitter fans of those bands (fortunately they're not all like that) who use that as a criticism or a "reason" for not liking BABYMETAL are clutching at straws. BABYMETAL are just different - and original. They don't follow or copy the same old traditional format of the countless thousands of bands that we've become accustomed to over the last few decades ... that's just one of the "rules" they break (and they break most of the "Trve Metal Rules"🤘which makes them more 'Metal' than many who wouldn't dare do anything different). They have 3 singers, but they also have bespoke choreographed dance for every song and Moa and Yui/Momoko also hype the crowd and get everybody involved. They don't just play concerts, they put on a show, as you said, they are very theatrical. They do take some getting used to. 3 or 4 songs is the usual time it takes for most people to just accept what they're seeing and hearing and not to want them to sound and act like every other band. This is your first actual song as such since 'BABYMETAL Death' is more of an instrumental intro piece ... it is so worth it if you decide to continue. I've been to hundreds of concerts, seen some of the recognised great live bands and so many more in all sorts of venues from rooms at the back of a pub to arenas and huge festivals and I can honestly say I was never better entertained than at the BABYMETAL concerts I was lucky enough to experience. If you find they really aren't your thing, it would be a shame but not a problem, we can't all like exactly the same things.

Legend 1997 refers to Su-metal's year of birth. This was her 16th birthday celebration. Legend 1999 refers to Yuimetal's and Moametal's year of birth. That show celebrated their 14th birthdays together as they were born 2 weeks apart. Yui on June 20th and Moa on July 4th. Some other birthday related shows were "Legend S Baptism XX Apocalypse" for Su-metals 20th birthday in 2017. "The Moon Also Rises Legend M Apocrypha XX" for Moametal's 20th birthday in 2019. "Legend MM" held this year for Momometal's 21st Birthday. Moa and Momo both sang the second half of Headbanger for their birthdays, making the song their own in their own special ways and are reaction-worthy as well. Moa and Yui also did so for their 15th birthdays, but there is only fan-cam footage of those.

Each Babymetal song will sound different to you because they explore different subgenres of metal and also add other elements from other genres, so if your thing is the classic metal bands that once they define their style, they move little away from it and practically all Their songs sound the same, this is definitely not for you. Probably the only songs that will have a very similar sound are their power metal songs (Road of Resistance, Akatzuki, Amore, IDZ, Arkadia). Besides that, the only constant thing you will hear is the voice of Su-Metal and company, which on some occasions will sound serious and dramatic like hell and on other occasions it will sound very poppy and catchy.

If not for Babymetal being so successful and pioneers of the female J-metal/rock genre worldwide, band's like Lovebites, Band-Maid, Nemophila and Hanabie would not also be experiencing the notoriety they've been receiving. And at one time or another those bands all acknowledged that fact

I had no idea that Band-Maid and Lovebites fans were negative towards BABYMETAL. FUN FACT: BABYMETAL started in 2010, while Band-Maid started in 2013 and Lovebites in 2016. Personally, Band-Maid's sound doesn't appeal to me, but I definitely think they are super talented. However, I do like Lovebites songs, at least the ones I've heard so far. I never slag off other bands. There's just no need. However it's sad that some Bandmaid and Lovebites fans act so pretensiously. I think some of these fans mistake B-M and LB for indie garage bands without realizing how the Japanese music industry works. I'm sure these fans are just a vocal minority as there will be many Babymetal fans amongs them. But i think it really stems from Jealousy more that anything. I never seems to be about the music itself.

Besides Loudness and X-Japan Japanese metal was pretty much ignored outside Japan.

The song is about leaving childhood behind and becoming an adult. The song was originally written about a girl becoming 15. However, when Su Metal (the lead singer) turned 20 they changed the lyrics to becoming an adult at 20 because that the official age in Japan. They debuted this change at a concert for Su Metal's 20th birthday. Since then, when Moa Metal (backup singer) turned 20 they have a show where they had her take lead on the last verse. Then, just recently here in 2024 the other backup singer, Momo Metal turned 20 and they had the same celebration for her. BTW Momo replaced Yui Metal (who is in this video and their older stuff) who dropped out of the band a few years ago. Not their best song but it has some nice meaning to it. Watch Babymetal Rondo of Nightmare W/Mischiefs of Metal Gods intro if you want to get a good taste of their band. Oh, and a bit of the story on their band. These guys are basically studio musicians that came together for this. Some of them also have their own bands they play with. They are referred to as the Kami Band. I know they have at least 2 sets of bands that they tour with. The guys in this video don't seem to tour as much internationally because they have other commitments in Japan. They have another band that you might see with them in other videos. Personally this band is far superior, however, the other touring band is fine too.

Babymetal is an acquired taste. They are the band that brought me back into listening to hard rock and metal. Since all metal seems to be divided into genres, theirs is called kawaii metal. It is a blend of pop and metal. It's not the first choice for hardcore metal fans, but it's a lot of fun to watch. They've done collabs with Rob Halford, Dragonforce, Jochaim of Sabaton, and just a couple weeks ago, they came out with a collab with Electric Callboy. That song has over 5 million views in 2 weeks. Every song they play seems to give a nod to a different genre of metal. They even have a song called Tales of the Destinies that sounds like a Dream Theater song. The band are some of the best session musicians in Japan on this track. To see more of the band, watch Rondo of Nightmare, which is designed to let each one show off their skill.

This is the thing I like to explain Babymetal to people.... BM is very much rock/metal theater, especially for their Japanese mega concerts, and crowd interaction is intergral to their performances. For their smaller non japanese concerts, its still very crowd interaction heavy, their songs pretty much have built in parts where crowd is expected to join in. I love Nemophila, Lovebite, Aldious, etc but, I can happily just buy their cds and listen, and I wouldn't be missing too much as compared to watching one of their concerts.... But if you only listen to BM cd, then you have missed out on about 80% of what makes Babymetal Babymetal, and surprisingly, they actually SOUND better live. The whole concept for BM besides fusing Jpop with Metal, was basically to introduce Metal to a younger and female audience, and they have done that very well. Look at youtube reactions, a lot people who mostly think of metal as some skandavian bearded guy trying to eat the mic while growling, would start exploring more metal after jumping on the BM train, because BM is fun and they fuse metal with a lot of different influences and genres, especially after all the recent collabs, and then they start exploring groups like Lovebites or Nemophila, etc. You should checkout some performances of how a western crowd reacts to Babymetal. 2 I would recommend would be IDZ from Sonisphere 2014, their first major breakout performance. Its a legend in the fanbase, because these girls got up on stage despite some threats online about booing them or throwing things at them for being a "gimmick", and won over a crowd of metalheads having them chant "we want more" as they walked off the stage. Another would be Karate from Download 2016, where you can see a festival crowd jam with our girls in the pouring rain. Have fun exploring Babymetal. 😁😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘

The Legend 1997 concert was the concert held to celebrate Su-metal's (the lead vocalist) 16th birthday. The 1997 is the year she was born. The concert was held on December 21st 2013, the day after Su's 16th birthday. It's okay if it's not for you. Babymetal doesn't click for everyone. As long as you're respectful in your criticism, most fans won't object. We are well aware that they're an acquired taste. Babymetal are an idol group, which is sort of like a K-pop group. They sing and dance, and the instrumentation is provided by their backing band of session musicians, who are called the "Kami Band" (Kami are gods or spirits in the Japanese Shinto religion). The lineup of the Kami Band isn't fixed, and a number of musicians have been part of it over the years, but there have been a group of musicians that have been pretty constant members. The Kami Band at Legend 1997 was Mikio Fujioka (guitar), Leda Cygnus (guitar), BOH (bass), and Hideki Aoyama (drums). Babymetal were created from their inception to be a blend of metal and J-pop. The whole idea was to create a group that would act as a gateway to bring pop fans into the world of metal. They are very deliberately half in the world of pop and half in the world of metal. Theatricality is a huge part of their live performance, which is where they really shine. They put on some of the most epic stage shows you will ever see. A lot of Babymetal fans are also fans of Band Maid and Lovebites, as most of us are big fans of Japanese rock and metal in general. For some reason, some of the fans of those other bands get really mad that Babymetal is much more famous than the bands they like more.

I suggest: Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of the Metal Gods intro Trust me, your ear will adapt to the "bubble gum pop" aspect.. as SU-METAL's voice is just so fantastic and always cuts through the heaviness of the music \m/🦊\m/ The name BABYMETAL itself is a play on words, as written out in Japanese it looks extremely close to "HEAVY METAL". But it also means the birth of a new genre of metal combing the Japanese pop aspects with metal. But then they LOVE to experiment by combing the BABYMETAL sound with all sorts of different genres of metal.. so there's tons to find. For example they have songs paying tribute to Dream Theater.. to Dragonforce.. collaborations with Bring Me The Horizon.. Electric Callboy.. Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine etc. Finally, I will just say - they are SUCH a FUN band to be a fan of. Their live shows are always pure fire. I'm a fan of metal bands using "death voice" vocals all the time too.. and black metal etc.. but the genesis of heavy metal is clean singing.. SU-METAL's voice is just so special too. Enjoy the journey :)

Yes, some lovebites and band maid fans are very toxic. On the other hand, BABYMETAL fans tend to be more open minded and like the other two bands or (at least) respect them. The "they don't play the instruments" argument is old and long time over, guys! BABYMETAL are and always have been a fusion between metal and kawaii (meaning "cute" and being a whole culture). So, they incorporated J-pop elements from the beginning. Its what they do and it's why they created they own genre: kawaii metal. If you want to feel better, their latest album The Other ONE lacks almost any trace of cuteness. Also keep in mind that they were teenagers at the point this concert happened (16 and 14). Now, ten years later, they and their voices have matured.

There are simply, thousands of bands that play their instruments and shout in each song, and it is so repetitive that even if you are someone who likes sounds like that, you don't differentiate one from the other, Babymetal is a concept, it is creativity, it is a new genre (Metal -Kawaii) they do things that in each song you will hear something different, but I assure you one thing and that is that DAMN IT IF THEY PLAY YOU A BM SONG, YOU WILL QUICKLY RECOGNIZE IT FROM THE REST OF THE OTHER BANDS.

Brotherman, it sounds like you have about the same music taste as I do. If you prefer heavier stuff, check out their songs BxMxC or Metali (ft Tom Morello). Or their collaborations with Bring Me The Horizon or Electric Callboy. Their newer stuff tends to have a bit less of the bubblegum feel (but still has pop elements). The lore of the band is cool, but less important than the music. And their band is called the Kami Band, and it's typically all-star lineups. Every incarnation of the Kami Band is killer.

_Hedoban hedoban!_ _Ban ban ban ban_ 🦊🤘🛐 Welcome back to the Foxhole. Don't worry about giving your honest opinion, as long as you don't disrespect the girls and the group you won't get any complaints from BM fans, actually they were used to be called a bubblegum pop music, they even got a song with that reference called Awadama Fever. One of BM charming is they don't have a song alike to another or at least you can barely find a set of songs like that, while they got lighter tracks leaning to the pop or Jpop side with more happy vibes and just to have fun, they got a heavier side with songs not so happy but with strong positive lyrics, so don't expect to find songs like BMD all the time, probably Sis Anger and BMD Shin Version are the heaviest on their catalogue. Also remember they're not using the same formula any other band have, they're doing something different because this project is huge and some band members like the one you saw here are not playing with them nowadays for multiple reasons, they got personal projects, 3rd compromises, one of them get married, another passed away, etc etc, heck! even one of the girls left the group back in 2018 and it was hard to recover from that departure, so yeah it's not an easy task to keep carry this huge project just like any other band, not to mention the girls started being super young and knowing nothing about heavy metal genre, nowadays they probably know and love more heavy metal bands than you and I'm not even kidding lol This song was part of the World Tour 2023/2024, everyone love this song and were having a blast with the girls headbanging real hard in the middle section instead of the usual bowing down on their knees or having fun with the cryo smoke gun. They did it last month at San Francisco as part of Babyklok Tour along with Dethklok. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind. Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. You'll find many more special versions celebrating their birthday, such recently last March when the new official member MomoMetal did it at Legend MM, Yokohama Arena celebrating her "20 Night", we called it "MomoBanger", and the day after her "21 Night" with another different song. This was at Legend 1997 (that's the title of this live concert referring to SuMetal birthyear) in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are: - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad - "Babymetal Death", be ready for this insane ending, Legend 1997 was an special live concert, and along with Legend 1999 celebrating Yui and MoaMetal birthday are tied together to represent the commitment of these girls with this group, a new rebirth. The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The statue behind is SuMetal resemblance and is a tribute to Metallica's Lady Justice. The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan. Another thing that you don't see so much here in their live performance is, when YuiMetal and MoaMetal are having fun with cryo or smoke gun, the choreography on this part is with them down on their knees and doing the "dogeza hedoban" which is like bowing down back and forth summoning the metal spirit represented by the neckbrace while SuMetal is standing with the mic rise up and her relentless death stare, that's another moment we called -NotACult- The Kami Band here are insane set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, "kami" means roughly "god", they're wearing burial white robes and corpse face paint to represent those spiritual entities. They rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists). They are: - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. (R.I.P.), he's the one doing that sick solo. - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums tracks. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday". - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. During recent World Tour 2023/2024 they got another complete different set of musicians, we called them Western Kami Band, they've been playing with them since 2019, so the Kami Band musicians aren't official members and the girls are the only front women of this group. Next suggestion to enjoy a SuMetal solo outside of the usual happy vibes songs. - Rondo Of Nightmare with Mischief Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014 See you next time.🦊🤘🔥

Great reaction! Don't worry, the only hate I'm going to throw towards is your Vikings hat, being a Bears fan myself... 😆 [[ Searching for my pitchfork ]]. As you guessed, Legend 1997 is the name of the concert in Dec 2013 celebrating lead Su-metal's 16th birthday. Earlier same year, they held Legend 1999 celebrating Yui & Moa's 14th birthdays. 1997/1999 being the 3 member's birth years of course. Babymetal's whole thing is fusing J-Pop and Metal to make metal more fun and accessible. You gotta understand that back in 2010 when they formed, J-Pop idol industry dominated Japan and the metal scene was slowly fading. Their metalhead producer wanted to revitalize his beloved genre, but was stuck in the Idol industry, so Babymetal was his answer. They will always have very pop-like vocals, sometimes fun and goofy, sometimes somber and serious, but always positive and uplifting. And, as you brought up, Babymetal's Kami Band are some of the best session players in Japan, with a core group supporting Babymetal all the way into 2023, until Kami Band West (4 Americans) took over as the sole backing Band (from your Babymetal Death reaction). For me, I enjoy vocals from pop, but I dislike the soft/commercial music from that genre. While I absolutely love heavy metal, I'm not always a fan of non-stop bleeeghs. So Babymetal sits in that Goldilocks zone of perfection combining best of both worlds. Not to mention, their live performance is just beyond amazing. While I like Band-Maid and Lovebites as well, and they are incredible musicians, they just don't hit the spot for me like Babymetal does. I'm sure others will say the same about Babymetal. Any hateful comments are just salty people who couldn't stand a "J-Pop" idol group is absolutely crushing their favorite "real" band's popularity. To me, it's not a competition, just enjoy the music, lol. 🤘🦊

Good one! Yes, that was a birthday concert, Su-Metal became 16 the day before! Full title of the concert is "Legend 1997 Apocalypse Su-Metal Seitsansai". "BABYMETAL Death" was the last song at this special concert (normally, it´s the opener) and was more about the band and the theatrics done by the girls, showing that Su-Metal sacrifices her former life as an Idol, to become a Metal Goddess. You should watch that particular performance, too! Towards the end of your reaction you got almost, what kind of a song "Headbangerrrrr!!!!" really is, and what BABYMETAL is all about🤣 Kawaii Metal 😉Cute AND hard at the same time. I was introduced to BABYMETAL by exactly this performance of "Headbangerrrrr!!!!", and after listening to it for about 1.5 minutes, I jumped right into the Fox hole. The whole thing is SO unique, maybe that was the thing, that hit me so hard. I was fed up with the "same old, same old", chaotic shredding and growling the whole time, Hard Rock with some heavy metal flavour in it (not really new, too), again and again, for many years... and then came BABYMETAL. It was so refreshing! I find it funny that so many people are into the "you have to play instruments, otherwise you´re not great!" thing... most of them don´t even know, HOW many really great musicians are out there, actually NOT playing in a band! At the same time that very same people totally forget about the quality of the vocalist, which is often even more important than the instrumentalists... So, thank you very much that you emphasized the fact, that BABYMETAL are great because they are actually all singing at high quality (Su-Metal is called "Queen" for a reason!) WHILE DANCING, as well as having a bunch of very high quality musicians, performing a frikkin´ amazing show with them AND the crowd!

What's the difference between the ladies of Babymetal and Diana Ross & The Supremes? They didn't play any damn instruments either. Not griping on you. I'm just grousing at all the lame stupid haters. I love Babymetal baby. They led me to band-maid which led me to love bites then Mary's blood, then Aldious and Doll$boxx and so forth. Each group is a little different but it's all great rock, hard rock or metal and to have so many all-female bands/groups out of one country when we don't have anybody since Lita Ford or Linda Ronstadt? I love all these groups I've watched. Bridear has a new on fire song out too.

Babymetal is a fusion of Idol and Metal. They were the first. There are now other groups like Broken by the Scream and Passcode. There are probably more but those are the two i know. I thought you did a great very honest and well reasoned reaction. This early era of Babymetal can sound very strange to our western ears. The heavy metal instrumentals with the poppy style vocals was kind of the whole point. Koba the producer for Babymetal loved metal but felt like the metal scene had gotten pretty stale with bands just pushing out more of the same old stuff. He heard Su singing in a competition when she was 9. And even then he could feel the power in her vocals and that became the hub around which Babymetal was created. Babymetal has always had a highly performative side to their concerts. I guess you can love that or leave it. Personally as a fan I'd call it getting your friggin moneysworth. To the haters Babymetal is still rocking huge crowds worldwide and they have earned their acclaim. Each of these teens here and the young women in their 20's they are now have been working, practicing, performing, training et al since they were little kids...literally. And I don't believe you can hold the attention of multitudes for over 10 years if you're not giving those crowds something they like and want. For that heavier sound and look I'd like to suggest "Metal Kingdom" live at PIA Arena, 2023 (link follows): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rspdn9aor5jJY58.html

Nice Reaction. I don't think you'll get much hate as you said nothing that wasn't true. There's a number of things I want to mention based on everything you said which I hope will a) shed some light and b) maybe give the haters something to think about. So first off, yes you are correct, they are a fusion of JPop and metal, that is how they started and that has been a major, I'd almost say, selling point for them. It is what makes them unique. You've taken almost the polar opposite in terms of music styles and fused them together and what SHOULDN'T work seems to actually fuse quite well! This has, as a result, I'd almost say revitalized and resurrected the metal scene in Japan. For most of their existence, Babymetal has had to fight against the metal "gatekeepers" who refuse to allow Babymetal into the metal scene as far as they are concerned, yet you have some of the biggest bands in metal history who are big Babymetal fans themselves. You have huge names like Metallica, Rob Zombie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, KoRn, Slipknot, Dragonforce, XJapan, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, and many, MANY more all defending Babymetal and backing them up, so all those gatekeepers should maybe just keep their opinions to themselves and let people enjoy what they want to enjoy. And this brings me to my next statement. All these Bandmaid/Lovebites fans that hate Babymetal. You should be THANKING Babymetal. It's BECAUSE of Babymetal that your bands that YOU love so much even have the popularity that they DO have! Without Babymetal I don't think Bandmaid or Lovebites would be where they are. Babymetal is the band that blew up outside of Japan and hit North America hard, winning over North Americans and getting us North Americans curious as to what other stuff is in Japan, which is how your bands have been able to thrive as they have. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy Bandmaid and Lovebites. Not as much as I love Babymetal, but I have respect for those bands as well and enjoy and respect the skills they have. As for Babymetal not being a "band" because they don't play any instruments, well thats a bunch of garbage. There are many bands where the singers don't play instruments. Does that mean they aren't bands either? Plus, they have their OWN skills that they bring to the table as well. How many metal bands do you see who can actually create a dance for each metal song they have? How many times have you seen a metal band able to even DANCE to their music! That is in itself a unique thing! How many times have you seen a singer able to dance and sing at the same time without sounding horrible in the process? That ALSO is not easy to do. Try it! Go jogging or something and try singing as you jog! I bet you your voice is going to wobble as you are jogging or dancing. So please quit with the hate. There's enough hate in this world already. Lets just accept one another and live in peace! Ok last point I wanted to make which is to clarify a little as to what is happening. So you've been actually watching a trilogy of Babymetal's, only you're doing it out of order. The trilogy is called the trilogy of Death. The first song of that trilogy is Headbanger. The second song, from this concert since both songs you've reacted to are from the same concert, would be Akatsuki Unfinished (HIGHLY recommend listening to that song next since you've already listened to the other 2 songs). Then the last song is Babymetal Death!. For Akatsuki Unfinished, there's also the "finished" version which is just Akatsuki. I'd recommend reacting to that one at some point as well. As for the trilogy it's sort of telling a story from beginning to end to rebirth. So Headbanger is a song about a young girl going to her first metal concert, after the concert she is offered the chance to become the metal goddess, but in order to become the metal goddess she must give up her jpop idol identity and become reborn as the metal goddess. So Akatsuki Unfinished is the part where she's given the choice and must decide what to do and where she has doubts. It ends up being a super emotional song in which even Su-Metal (the main vocalist) ends up shedding actual tears which you may have noticed when you watched Babymetal Death! as her mascara was all running down her face. In the end Su decides to become the Metal goddess, and that is what Babymetal Death! is. It is the ritual that was used to sacrifice the JPop Idol, Suzuka Nakamoto and transform her into Su-Metal. So that is the story behind the trilogy. At least that is how I understand the events. If I'm wrong, Grington300 or Jake Muller will correct me lol. Hopefully that clears up some things. One other thing I'd like to say. You mentioned that this song went in a completely different direction than you thought it would. Get used to that with Babymetal. You're going to find that ALL their songs sound quite different from each other. I think that is also a part of what makes them so popular. All their songs sound so different that it's hard to get bored of them! They DO have some heavier songs too though. If you'd like a darker song, then I'd recommend Rondo of Nightmare. If you want a powermetal song like a Dragonforce song, then I'd recommend Road of Resistance which the guitarists helped right parts of the song to! But no matter what you choose, you're going to be getting something different. They love playing around with genres and styles. So have fun in your journey!

Band Maid LoveBytes, Blah. Babymetal is the biggest-selling international artist in the history of Japan, and they still sing mostly in Japanese. They have played all the big festivals, collaborated with big artists, opened for the biggest metal bands of all time. They did this all without sexualizing themselves and before the age of 18. They have lost band members to death and illness and keep pushing the limits with a great smile and appreciation for the fans. It is true that at the ages of 11 and 12 they weren't master musicians in a garage forming a copycat band. Instead, they were ask to think out of the box and be led into a scary unfamiliar world that might compromise their careers that they desired in JPOP. "Metal fans" mocked them and treated them like garbage and yet the girls trudged a head. If Band Maid or "monotone" Lovebytes were men, no one would care for their Nickleback music. BABYMETAL DEATH is definitely a anomaly in BABYMETAL's discography since that song is almost purely a instrumental song. Headbanger is a lot more representative song for them. And babymetals whole idea or "gimmick" is to combine j-pop and heavy metal so the singing will sound poppy almost all the time. And yeah some of band-maid and lovebites fans love to absolutely seethe about babymetal since babymetal is A WHOLE LOT bigger than those bands. A better and more accurate description of Babymetal is they are a metal dance performance group. They are backed by Kami band; some of the best session musicians. Babymetal have never, to my knowledge, called themselves a "band". IMO it just an easy moniker to call them a band. There are numerous groups that are only singers and/or dancers. A few Japanese examples are ADO, Ano, Attashaii Gakko, and Babymetal's "little sister" group, Metalverse. The other hate on Babymetal is they don't write their own music. It is rare that a band ONLY plays their own music. Many famous bands use songs written by and/or performed by another artist. This is especially common in country music. In their early years, Band-Maid performed songs mandated by their talent agency, not their own compositions. Interesting fact I stumbled across, Elvis Presley only wrote one song that he performed.
