This song represents BABYMETAL in every way. It's heavy, it's cute, it's uplifting, it's japanese (Sakura Sakura part) and one hell of a song live!

My favorite early song. Also their official MV is my favorite. Understand they go full tilt boogie for the entire concert that is an hour to an hour and a half long. Have to ask, Did you see the 2016 Wembley Concert that they streamed a week or so ago? It was my first time seeing an entire concert by them, I was exhausted.

The lyrics you looked at were a bad translation, the word Megitsune has two meanings: a female fox and vixen. The song title in English would be Vixen, once you know that, the lyrics make more sense.

Basically Su is saying we not foxes/kitsune (thats why she has fox mask ) not deceiving but being the perfect women smiling looking there best ( hand motion in dance puting makeup on ) all the time hiding there tears of sadness . All goes into Japanese folklore foxes are seen as deceives that could change form into anything . So if a mans wife/girlfriend leaves him he calls her a fox/vixen a deceiver .

foxy in japan is near related to a extra (in bad way) girl.. u know what i mean, but they are not that.
@SsomebodyTookMyName4 жыл бұрын
The masks and a lot of the hand positions are related to the mythology they continually refer back to; the Fox God. You see the pinched fingers with raised "ears" used a lot and the mask is of a fox to tie into that as well so it's more a global band reference than relating to this song (Much like Stephen King always touches back to the Dark Tower and that alternate reality is most of his other writing)

I hate to tell you. But that music was pre-recorded. The Kami Band came on later in that show to finish it. You can see the Kami Band doing 'Headbanger' and 'Babymetal Death' from the same concert. That concert was from very early on. The Kami Band didn't know all the songs yet i assume is the reason for the partial performances. I'd recommend checking out the official music video. It's one of the rare ones that might be better than live. You'll understand the mask she brought out too :) Those guys in skeleton suits were the 'babybones'. They were retired for good in 2014. Thankfully.

That's not so much because of the Kamis not knowing the songs as it has something to do with budget I believe. That show would have been very costly to put together back then and they had to make cuts whenever they could to allow for this to take place. Though maybe that's a combination of both. After this concert the Kamis were finally hired for full-on shows. I believe that after that concert BABYMETAL really were allocated more resources and were able to hire the musicians for full concerts. Music Life Plus, if you read this, yeah that's kinda ironic that you would comment about the musicianship on the one video where the music was pre-recorded and the "band" behind them are just miming haha. The musicians came on for the encore songs at the end of that show. Suzuka is live though.

They put them to work again later, but not on stage :-) Well, I guess Legend S they were drumming...?

Babymetal transitioned from just the girls and instrumental playback in the very earliest days, to instrumental playback with miming placeholders (the "Babybones") to the live Kami Band in stages. Limited budget was the starting reason, but the Babybones - and even just stacks of unused Marshall amps - signalled their intentions and goals. The Kami Band was phased in as part of a trial period for them to see how it worked and to get used to it (Su-metal said it felt entirely different) and presumably in this case as a bit of showmanship to show their evolution and finish with a bang during a single, milestone concert.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🦊 ⛩ "Ah, it's right. Always women are actresses. We're not foxes, not deceiving, but maiden-like female foxes.". Su-metal likes to think of this song as expressing the Japanese character of facing adversity with resilience. A person might feel sad or overwhelmed, but they put on a brave face and carry on. She has talked about how adult women are so cool as they never show suffering, by acting quite as usual even in a hard time, and she hopes to be so too. As always, the best source for English translations for the songs on the first two albums is the Du-metal site. Here's his 'Megitsune' page: du-metal.blogspot.com/2013/07/megitsune.html

Fox is an emissary of the Gods (Kami) in Japan, but in East Asian culture are consider deceptive, cunning, mischievous etc etc and often depicted as women with feminine wiles. However in Japan it has a more positive image as Kami's emissary but image of women are foxes is entrenched in culture especially if you are seen as adulterer (stealing husband or boyfriend) or makes men simps. See this page for more info en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitsune Now read the lyrics again, it makes more sense now.

To understand parts of the lyrics you have at least to know the role of the fox in Japanese mythology (I won't go specific on that). The lyrics can be interpreted as kind of criticism about the traditional Japanese woman's role model. But the main statement is "Maidens shouldn't be underestimated!".
@turbozed4 жыл бұрын
Song is a deconstruction of the Japanese mythical "kitsune." Kitsune is literally a fox, but in folk tales and legends are magical creatures that deceive or play cruel tricks on people. They're usually feminine. And so in Japan a clever or devious woman can be described as kitsune-like. The song seems to say that modern day women have more complex emotional lives than they are given credit for. 'Women are actresses, smiling on the outside, crying on the inside.'

That band is not live! When you see the skeleton suits, that's "Baby Bones". Before they adopted a live band, they performed to a recorded track and the guys behind them are just air guitaring. They wisely adopted a live band knowing that shit don't fly in the west.
