Thanks Wave, you were quick with this one - great reaction. This will be fun at live shows (the fan cam we saw from yesterday's concert where they played it gave us some clues and it sounded like there was a Kami Band intro too) - lots of opportunities for the crowd to join in too.🤘🦊🤘

_Wasshoi wasshoi!_ Yep a shamizen maybe, although the beginning of this reminds me a little bit to Punjabi MC - Knight Rider but with another instrument 😅 We got another banger for Japanese festival or any festival around, can't wait for this to be played at Aftershock or Louder Than Life and see the crowd. It's their first song released with this new BM reborn and formation. Some of us already heard this yesterday because they premiere this at Apocrypha - Another One show, and someone leaked this on a fancam, it's all good, it was a blast and really unexpected but everyone was having a blast and even started with a Kami Band solo after a while without it. Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festival when carry the shrines, similar to sore and soya you heard in Megitsune. I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts. Thanks for sharing this Wave.🦊🤘🎸

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Shamisen riffs, that's cool!!! At 1:09, 'odo-rin-shai (chai)' (let's dance!), at 1:16, 'uta-in-chai' (let's sing!), they seem to be Hakata dialects with Hiroshima dialect roots. So I guess the lines are easy for Su- to sing. It sounds cute for me, though, haha. At 1:10, 'soh-re sore sore', this part is Hibari Misora's famous 'Festival Mambo' (O-matsuri Mambo), I guess, hahaha. At 1:05 and 2:05, 'odoru aho ni miru aho' (踊る阿呆に見る阿呆、If you're a fool to dance, or you're a fool to watch), this is a famous line from the Awa Odori dance in Tokushima, Japan, and goes on to say 'but if you're a fool to be the same, it is better you'd dance!' (同じ阿保なら踊らにゃ損, onaji aho nara odora-nya son). At 2:13, Momoko's part, 'odoru-de, shikashi' (I will dance, though), I guess this is a parody of Osaka dialect, 'Okoru-de shikashi' (I can get angry, though). Well, it's not just an Osaka dialect, but a set line from a famous Japanese comic storyteller (Manzai). Momoko has done a good job!! I think it's a 'what the hell' song, typical of BABYMETAL, hahaha. I love it!!!

わっしょい!!🏮 It was the same with megitsune, when a song has a lot of Japanese culture in it, it is difficult to explain. Read only if you are interested, as the content may be a little removed from the song itself. METALI is a word that adds METAL and 祭り(Matsuri=festival). And this song is a representation of a Japanese 夏祭り(Natsu Matsuri=summer festival). For us Japanese, these sound and lyrics make our Matsuri blood boil. Matsuri is the heart of the Japanese people. It is said that there are a total of 300,000 festivals in Japan, both large and small. Matsuri means a ritual for worshiping Gods or Buddha, or an event held in gratitude towards nature. 神輿(Mikoshi=portable shrine) is a carriage for Gods. In the festival, Japanese people get around the Mikoshi and carry it on their shoulders in order to worship Gods. While carrying the Mikoshi, the carriers will yell "Wasshoi, Wasshoi" or "Soiya, Soiya" or "Sore, Sore".(However, the calls vary considerably from region to region.) 神輿(Mikoshi=portable shrine) and お囃子(Ohayashi=festival music) of Matsuri have a history of more than 1,000 years and are etched in the DNA of the Japanese people. "Pii hyara" in the lyrics is the sound of a 篠笛(Shino bue=transverse flute) used at Matsuri. "Dokkoisho" is the voice used when lifting heavy objects, but it is also used in shouting. MOMOMETAL speaks in the middle, that is 歌舞伎(kabuki) speaking. The lyrics "Odorin chai" and "Utain chai" are in the dialect of SU-METAL's birthplace, Hiroshima. In standard language, the words are "Odori nasai" and "Utai nasai", meaning "you should dance" and "you should sing". If you are interested in Mikoshi, musical performances, etc., please search youtube for these characters and watch the videos. When the Japanese see this, our blood starts to boil. Mikoshi> "2011 焼津神社荒祭 1" ohayashi(festival music)> "お囃子乱舞!" Festival dance> "REDA舞神楽 【YOSAKOIソーラン大賞披露演舞】" From Japan🦊

@@autohmae The comments of people who were actually there were about Momo's solo dance. The idea Momo did the scream didn't pop up in conversation until after people who weren't there heard the audio recording. The old lady voice is identical to the actual track, and both are omnipresent in the audio as they are coming from all the speakers. Su actually singing is coming from the front on the soundstage, obviously live as the person recording is close to the stage, but closer to the other speakers which are somewhere above or behind him. Listen to both Su singing (and Su's backtrack), and then listen to the old lady voice and the scream, with headphones, and that it's backtrack is obvious.

No Momoko growl in the studio version though. But YES she DID growl as she yelled "Are you ready?!" in the LIVE performance according too the people that were actually THERE. Momoko apparently had a dance solo too. I guess Koba felt it was time for Momoko to shine a bit. 🤘🦊🤘

In a way it is, this is heavily inspired to Japanese folk music, the song is literally about a traditional festival and pays homage to their guest Tom Morello's band. Bloodywood do folk metal, based on traditional Indian music and they too are heavily inspired by RATM and SOAD... The beginning part is the most similar, especially to Dana Dan, they followed the same path and got a similar result given the different folk music they used as an intro riff. 🤘🦊⚡️

Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 I witnessed the world premiere (live debut) on Aug. 16. You mentioned some lack of dynamics of this song. What did I think at the venue? I got hyped like idiot in the simplicity of this song and Momoko's (not Su's) solo part in the middle that breaks the repetitiveness. OMG!

This song is based on the traditional Japanese festival dance "盆踊り/Bon Odori". "MEGITSUNE" has a similar format, but mixed with pop rock. 'metal! ! ' It is most closely related to traditional Japanese folk songs. Since "盆踊り/Bon Odori" is a summer festival where ordinary people dance endlessly, various transitions and sound dynamics disturb the dance. "Wasshoi♪", "Dokkoisho♪" and "Sore Sore♪" are traditional Japanese festival chants.😊👍🤘🦊

Thank you for the quick reaction. This reminds me of "PA PA YA" when it first came out. Many people thought it was too repetitive (lacked dynamic changes), but as more and more people saw their live performances, it became a signature "Fan-participation" song. This will also become a popular "Matsuri = festival song"
