I think everything that needs saying about this song and performance has been said already, so I'll just say I'm really looking forward to you discovering how much more BABYMETAL have to offer and just how diverse their catalogue is ... and you already have a load of good suggestions on what to watch next.

The next song/performance should be in my humble opinion *"Ijime, Dame, Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 in the UK. This gig put BABYMETAL on the radar of the western metal community and earned them many fans from the get-go. It was this song, and 'Akatsuki' from the same concert that made me a die-hard fan. Su had three solo songs that night. 'No Rain, No Rainbow and 'Akatsuki' were earlier in the set. Yui and Moa (as Black BABYMETAL) performed two songs that night without Su. And there were 10 songs with all three. : )

The reason they look like Samara from The Ring is that is the Japanese burial outfit. If a Japanese corpse crawled out of a grave that is what they would look like. That is very Metal. Babymetal is very different than Band Maid because their music is way way more diverse and they do a lot more different things. There is no dance choreography in this song because it's a Su solo but nearly all their songs have full dance choreography. They can also be very cute but that doesn't stop the music from being very heavy. That is their thing. The contrast between cute and heavy.

Great reaction! In this video, Su is just 16 years old performing at the famous Budokan arena in Japan. I believe BABYMETAL are still the youngest band/artists to perform there. The Beatles have performed there too. She has such a commanding presence that you forget that she is a tiny girl on that stage, at just 5ft -1inch (155cm) tall. She may look like a tiny mortal, but she is a metal goddess. I read a recent comment that described the lyrics best: She is singing about "a nightmare running away from a monster she can not see...she is exhausted and hides in a well. And she gives up and just asked the monster to show itself to know what she was running from before she dies.". This is one of their darker songs. Of the 50+ BABYMETAL songs, Su's solo songs have more depth lyrically. The musicians are called the "Kami Band". "Kami" means god in Japanese, and these guys are like gods of music. They are all men and are Japan's best musicians. They are wearing burial gowns and corpse face paint because in the BABYMETAL legend/fantasy/storyline, the "Fox God" raises the musicians from the dead and calls upon them to play the music for the girls for each concert. The 3 girls have been chosen by the "Fox God" to unite the world through metal. BABYMETAL concerts like these, especially the ones in Japan, are about 1.5+ hours long, and because the girls go hard on every song, the other two girls, Moa and Yui, use Su's solo as a chance to take a break. I'll second Megitsune MV for the next one since it's considered a quintessential BABYMETAL song, performed more than any of their songs. A lot of cool cultural elements and one of the heaviest breakdowns ever.

No need to apologize about the chipmunk thing, my friend. Once you've heard a song with Yui and Moa singing (this was a solo by Su), it will be a fair comment indeed. And none of us fans are offended. It's part of their charm. If you want to go full chipmunk, you could listen to "Onedari Daisakusen" or "Gimme Chocolate", although I think it's much too soon for that. Most new listeners will benefit from being introduced to the cheeky and cutesy side of BabyMetal a bit more gradually. I think the next obvious recommendation would be "Road to Resistance". That will show you all three girls, and how they completely own the stage. I've been watching your FIR reactions ever since Popular Monster, and let me tell you. Babymetal is the same as FIR as in everyone of their song is amazing. Sure some are better than the other but every single Babymetal songs are amazing and unique from one another. You'll definitely enjoy this band. My recommendation to you will be Megitsune official MV. Since this was the song that made me a life time Babymetal fan. haha I always recommend this song first.

Nice reaction & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。Kamis' (=Gods') super plays are excellent enough as a main event, but once the 16-year-old Queen emerges from the underground, she colors everything differently and turns Kamis' plays into a ritual (as you mentioned) to summon her. BABYMETAL's activities have been worldwide. since June last year until March this year (before the pandemic) they performed 55 times in 14 countries. Especially this year, they performed 4 times in UK (Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow and London) as opposed to only 2 in Japan.

I didn't take offense from that comment, but keep in mind that a lot of people hate on BabyMetal using that exact phrase in a negative way, so that's maybe why some fans are a bit sensitive. BabyMetal can and LOVE to be silly and playful, Su loves to get a WTF reaction out of people. Great reaction BTW. This show happened about 6 years ago, and BabyMetal have kept improving and growing, and they put on an outstanding show and performance nowadays. Even if they are a different kind of band, there is serious talent and hard work there. Su is amazing singer, and as you saw, the band is phenomenal. Oli said that the sound of Su's vocals made him go harder in Kingslayer. The contrast drives the song. Rondo of Nightmare is about a recurring dream in which Su is trapped, and in the end falls into darkness. The breakdown in the middle where you paused, Su was singing roughly, "if I can't escape you, won't you reveal yourself to me?" She was only 16 at the time of this performance. There are so many songs to recommend, Ijime Dame Zettai is a good one, Road of Resistance is a good one, but I would recommend Megitsune. Every Babymetal song is a different experience, and Megitsune encapsulates everything the band is about. or BxMxC, which is their most recent video. Su is going to be 23 in a few weeks, and has matured greatly, and this shows them as they are now.

Babymetal was created specifically around Su's voice when producer Kobametal saw her at the age of 10 and thought her voice would be wasted on Jpop idol music. Megitsune, Headbanger from Legend 1997, Karate Download UK 2016, or a couple others to do next. this song is good but now you need to see a live show where the energy is off the charts from the band and the crowd.

Su-Metal (Nakamoto Suzuka) is one of great singers of of our time. She was "discovered" when she was about 5 yo in her hometown of Hiroshima.

As a first song from Babymetal, this is pretty good choice..one of the top 3 to start from for sure. The other 50 or so will often follow, as Babymetal is a slippery slope down to the foxhole.

Brief history; BABYMETAL was part of an idol school who taught girls about the entertainment business. They were also ridiculed by the critics, and metal heads as being a fake or gimmick band. Until 2014 when they made their first Europen concert tour at Sonisphere in which they proved themselves before 1000 of metalheads. Since then the have grown and have toured with some of the biggest rock and metal bands. Including Red hot Chili peppers, and Judas Priest, also other rock and metal groups and have been accepted by almost everyone around the world.

In fairness, I'm pretty sure they pitched her voice higher than usual on Kingslayer, and they put effects on it to make it sound electronic (in keeping with the themes of the song) that aren't typical of BM songs. The only other song they have with noticeable effects on Su's voice is BxMxC, which is still fantastic, and sounds even better live sans effects. Su's just a really strong singer and they like to showcase her natural talent. But the treatment in Kingslayer was fitting, and she did sound a bit chipmunky. She's still only in her early 20s and most of their catalogue is from when she and Yui and Moa were *very* young, so high pitched vocals are kind of their thing, but the songs are written to use it as a pleasing contrast to the heavy music. We understand. :) We aren't offended. They may sound a bit like chipmunks, but they are badass metal chipmunk goddesses and we love them. :p

Su "went down" on the mic to use its polar response to get the soft, far away sound. There is definitely a journey down the foxhole, but remember it's #notacult. You can go back to the origins in Karen Girls and Sakura Gakuin, through the Babymetal sub-unit years to the peak of Tokyo Dome, then the trauma of losing Mikio and then Yui leaving and Su and Moa carrying on. It's Shakespearean and Babymetal fans feel and relive all the emotions. The music and the talent on stage is amazing and IMO Babymetal straddles a Broadway show and a rock concert. They are a very highly produced band with the genius of Koba-metal and the resources of the Amuse agency behind them so they can spend money on impressive stage productions and employ fantastic song writers and arrangers and the musicians in the Kami Band. Please take the time to look at English translations of the lyrics and also understand some of the multiple levels of puns that appear in them. It's a good way to learn some fun things about Japanese culture, like the significance of strawberries to a 15 year old girl in "Headbanger" or red shoes to a child in "Catch Me if You Can". Great reaction. This song itself is a "horror" genre actually. It's literally about recurring nightmares and death. Also, what you just witness is a Kawaii Metal Legend, Suzuka Nakamoto aka Su Metal. Babymetal usually have 3 separate acts. One with all 3 girls (Su, Yui, Moa), one with two girls (Yui, Moa) and one solo (Su Metal). I hope you keep an open mind because Babymetal doesnt have the same vibe in each of their songs. They are practically diverse and different which is why we love them so much. Babymetal touched a lot of metal genres in their music. Black Metal in Sis Anger, Power Metal in Road Of Resistance and Arkadia, Djent in BxMxC, Metalcore in Distortion, Heavy and Death Metal in most of their songs. But Babymetal will always stick to their own genre, which is Kawaii Metal. The first of their kind.

I think the Chipmunk comment is actually comprehensible in context to your explanation. Su's vocals had heavy effects on them in Kingslayer (actually probably the only thing I really don't like about the song), which made it sound even higher than her pitch actually is. I don't know how much you know about BABYMETAL or if anyone said it before, but BABYMETAL actually were three girls at the time of this concert here in April of 2014 (Suzuka Nakamoto, born Dec 1997, Moa Kikuchi, born Jul 1999 and Yui Mizuno, born Jun 1999, who left in 2018). Rondo of Nightmare is a solo song of lead singer Su-metal. There are 4 solos on the first two albums, Rondo of Nightmare, Akatsuki, Amore, No Rain No Rainbow. In contrast to the solos were 4 songs from backup vocalists and dancers Moametal and Yuimetal (which were called Black BABYMETAL in these situations), Song 4/Yon no Uta, Onedari Daisakusen, GJ, Sis.Anger. Moa & Yui took a break when Su sang her solos and vice versa, because they did 90 minute shows with constant moving/dancing/singing. But none of these 8 songs were performed since Yui officially left the group in Oct 2018 (only talking pro-shot concerts). This is freaking fire! Absoltely talented musicians, and Su-Metal, my god what a voice. (Not a huge fan other other 2 in other videos tbh)

My only advice to you would be to only do live performance reactions. They do have music videos, but you’ve really got to watch live to appreciate what this band puts into their shows. The musicians are fantastic, and the girls are just constantly moving, doing intricate choreography for over an hour. Also, keep in mind that quite a few of their songs were recorded before they were teenagers, so you’re going to hear some admittedly chipmunk voices. I would suggest “Headbanger: Legend 1997”,

Nothing against Band Maid, and they play different music so people can prefer what they want to, but they don't come close to the talent that Babymetal brings to the table. Whether it is the vocals, instrumentals, or performances; Babymetal outclass them in every way.

You’ve done a Su-metal solo now do a black Babymetal song which is is the sub unit which Yui and Moa-metal does songs without Su. Gj and sis anger are their best songs actually all of Moas and Yuis songs are great actually song 4 is the only song 4 they wrote that song is great live especially having them 2 running around shouting in your ears whilst getting the audience involved.
