In this recording series the 4th harmonic pedal is used in resonance half-position which gives controllable harmonic reverberation in the average sized room at home.

Bach didn't write a tempo for this piece, but most interpretations write at least vivace for it. I personally can barely do a clean allegretto at certain parts of this piece, though I'm trying to get it faster. As Bach's inventions are mainly considered as exercises and help tremendously in improving technical ability and learning independent hand motion, I guess it's fair to treat it more like a technical exercise and try to increase the tempo as much as possible while maintaining correct rhythm and playing the notes clearly. If you look at it that way, there's no right or wrong tempo for this piece!

Yet another piece of music that I loved to play. I was 12 when I played this. I had to wait for my oldest sister to finish the book. We couldn't afford many books of our very own. I played this at festival, an annual event at another university. We were judged and given certificates. The highest was Superior Rating 😊❤Yes, indeed I was Superior Rating. ❤I played Rondo rather than scales, to calm my energy for my piano lessons. My teacher knew, piano was my way of communicating feelings. I would take one piece of music and play it 10 different ways, depending on what I was feeling, thereby, not being punished. So, I would have 5 pieces to practice and learn each week. They were all quite different. She could tell how I was doing by which song was practiced the most. If it was Chopin's Nocturno, or one of many 2 and 3 part Inventions, or a Fugue. My orchestra teacher also picked up on this, despite never saying a word. She tricked me into an audition for the Annual Youth Symphony. We played our usual duets, that required me to also play parts of the second violins, on my viola. I didn't know we were going to play my cello, so I didn't bring my books. I got one of my piano books out and played the first song. It was "The Swan". I didn't know it was a famous cello piece. I received first chair on any instrument I chose. I chose viola so my friends could participate, 1 violin, 1 cello...both first chair.😊❤

This one is so great, you cannot get it out of your head if you hear it once. I listened all of the 2 part inventions a while ago and then kind of forgot about it then I read somewhere that these are easier to play than WTC and I was like 'hmm 2 part inventions... tu DU tu DU tu TUU dududududududu' To take such a simple concept of a canon and make it into this piece of art is something only Bach could have thought of.

This was the first song of Bach that I learned in early teens. I didn't have the sheet music, but I had an old LP record of it, and learned by listening repeatedly, first concentrating on the right hand notes, then the left, matching the notes on the piano, putting both to memory. I took a long time, was total beginner. I didn't know how to read music yet! So this song is deeply ingrained in my consciousness. It rings with sublime and noble beauty. Wonderful rendition.
