The 'French' Suite no. 1 in D minor, performed by Francesco Corti for All of Bach, is the most classical of the six ‘French’ suites. Bach keeps strictly to the usual order of the dances: allemande, courante, sarabande, two minuets and a gigue. According to Corti, it is possibly even the most archaic of all Bach’s suites. In other words, it is an ideal piece for becoming familiar with the genre and the various dance forms in their purest style.

This is THE rendition of this piece that lovers of Bach’s music, and newcomers must hear! Such poetry! Corti’s playing is extremely expressive, you can really feel the poetry of the music. The allemande blows me away. I can hear the words strung together into such expressive sentences culminating in a vast paragraph, then a new side of the story, finally ending with such a beautiful conclusion.

I am delighted to have Signor Corti as one of my FB friends and dearly love his insightful and beautiful approach to the harpsichord and indeed life itself. This is delightful and profound playing as Herr Bach deserves, and blows dust off the sadly wooden interpretation sometimes given to him by previous generations who destroyed more than they revered, it seems - a musical Luftwaffe! The Sarabande within this gem of a Suite ("sequence" for those who don't know yet) is a model of operatic pathos and deeply-felt inspiration. It moves me every time I hear it and, based on Francesco's playing of it here, I gather it moves him too. Kudos, my very dear friend, Signor Corti, I loved every minute of this elegant video! ❤️💐🎹🎼🇮🇹

Breathtaking! A close #2 to the great Glenn Gould version. The first completely original interpretation I have heard in the last 20 years. From the beginning, the overly slow Allemande presents the most ornamentation ever dared on this piece, easily twice the figuration of the already daring Glenn Gould versions, which means it's quadruple what's on the written page! The slow tempo works though with these added figures filling in the space. His Gigue is also slow but has a nice groove to it, almost a swing that pulses it forward. The Minuets are fast, what a flurry of notes yet still so natural sounding. The Sarabande - well I could write a whole essay on his version, but it's nice to hear an old friend that I played 25 years ago in a new light. Every movement has a fresh look at the style and tempo that surprises and delights me. Oh and of course I love the Baroque tuning, c# minor has such a dark sound compared to the modern d minor. It's the first time I've heard this Suite and wanted to listen to this version again and not even pick it apart against the various things Glenn Gould did but let it stand on its own as something new and different. Thanks so much for adding this to KZfaq with such beautiful camera work and sound. Bravo!

@ruperttmls7985
@ruperttmls7985 3 жыл бұрын
Saludos.
@patriciarodriguezmartinez3233
@patriciarodriguezmartinez3233 3 жыл бұрын
