Bachmann Windhoff MPV Review

Hello and welcome back to another video from Chelmswood Junction.
In this video we take a look at my new addition to the fleet and that's a Bachmann Windhoff MPV.
This unit is second hand and during the video as you will see as I went to find the area to place a 21 pin 4 function decoder again Bachmann product there was already a decoder in there.
The unit itself is very highly detailed and has excellent paint work.
The unit ran on the DCC Concepts rolli g Road very well at slow and higher speeds and did not have a wobble.
This unit has a prepared area for a speaker for DCC Sound upgrade.
The only fault I have found with the unit is the units that fit on top of the flat bed wagon are not secured in so that might be a video were we could look at making them stay on and in place who knows.
And also the railings around the sides are very delicate and could bend and break easy.
But above all it is a very good unit and I would highly recommend it.

Hi Peter, great video review, i got this model eventually, it is unique and amazing, i also got a Legomanbiffo sound decoder as well. Bachmann are bringing this unit out again for 2023, the prices are very very high with and without sound, such a shame their prices are going to put people off in the current financial climate.

Hi Peter, hope all is well with you and the family, I know your into N gauge now which to be fair is a wise financial move in my opinion, Bachmann do produce some really great models, I have finally got my hands on quite a few JJA auto ballaster wagons, I think they are superb and they are available in N gauge as well, not sure if the mpv is available in N gauge to date, it is such a cool looking rail vehicle so I take my hat off the Bachmann for producing it, I would like to see the double cab mpv in the range one day as it is a real vehicle, thanks again for sharing.

Hello friend Thank you so much for your nice comments it is so much appreciated. The family and I are all well now getting ready for the big Xmas day to come. Yes switched to n gauge for 2 reasons one cost and 2 space as I don't have the space I use to have as moved house a couple of years ago. Hope you and the family are all well. Peter

Hi Peter I've learnt se more stuff didn't know about the accident/run aways it's a great unit I love mine I want more you got a great unit I thank daz at Canning parkway I went to his layout when he had his layout I've seen a few on ebay once with orange ends with colas rail on it great video too hope you are all okay cheers Paul

Hi peter hope you are well just re-watched your video on your Bachmann class 158 I think we bought the 158 dmu around the same time I have the east midland trains livery which I dcc fitted up till today when I fitted a esu loksound V5 sound chip from Olivias trains it was a lovely loco before but now with the sound chip fitted it’s amazing the east midland trains mainline is just about few hundred yards from my railway room in my shed and the real 158’s and class 222’s pass every day the fitting of the sound decoder was the easiest I have ever done no body to take off anyway peter keep doing your amazing video’s about new additions to your fleet and how to’s Best wishes Kev Beighton Parkway Sheffield

Great video Peter. I think they came ready dcc fitted. You are however missing one piece. There should be 4 components on the first unit you showed

Peter, may I possibly correct you it that I have a Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance 2 DCC controller (part no. DCC02) and in fact it does have the facility to read the dcc number and if you want change it if required, Keep up the good work.

Put the weight module over the wheels on the dummy unit as the connector has a tendency to pull the dummy unit off the track

@@chelmswoodjunction I had issues with the connector pulling the wheels off the track and not enough weight over the wheels on the dummy unit

Worrying prototypical history Pete!. I assume they’re air braked? Normally if there happens to be a division the air brake system would apply the emergency brake (as an act of discontinuity) thus stopping each portion safely🤔

Hi kev I believe they are air braked but not 100% on that. But is a bit scary that they have been 3 runaway incidents. Glad you enjoyed the video as always. Peter

Just go into program and cv 8=8 and it will reset the decoder without having to find the number

All the dcc systems you mentioned have the ability to interrogate the chip, it’s part of the NMRA standards. Please double check your facts before making sweeping statements. There are many new modellers out there.

Not at all, I’m just passionate about this hobby and want to see it continue to grow. Miss information can be very negative, saying everyone needs a highly expensive DCC control system will worry some less experienced modellers. I’m sure none of us want that.
