Hello tabatha furlotte, Thank you for your question. Please see the links below for more information on this subject. We would be happy to talk with you about this further over the phone. NPIC@OSU Are you funded by Monsanto? Because i have heard extensive research about BT toxins causing allergies, and causes gastrointestinal problems.. Here is some mice fed BT corn showed a huge range of immune responses. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19007233 How about all the "New Class" of autoimmune inflammatory diseases? BT is the ingredient on fly and mosquito traps, why don't you eat one of those before you get back to me.

The testing done on natural BT toxins are isolated from the e.coli bacteria. The protein would be different from what is in the GM crop. The BT toxin being produced from the plant is not the same from the natural BT toxin, and nearly every pro GMO website will admit that.
@lightdark00

The poison is a protein, proteins are denatured by stomach acid, not "killed" or made "dead". So these untangled and possibly cleaved proteins make it though all our digestive tract, which do get into the blood. See www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21338670

@Mr. DroCro The WHO, EPA, EFSA and 281 other agencies all affirm that GMOs and glyphosate are totally safe and cause no unintended consequences. Full global consensus! All 284 global health and safety agencies agree. Yes, this is the mother of all GMO safety citations and a stake in the heart of all anti-biotech conspiratards: www.siquierotransgenicos.cl/2015/06/13/more-than-240-organizations-and-scientific-institutions-support-the-safety-of-gm-crops/ On the linked page is a hyperlink of proof for each of those 284 agencies. Some may not be in English. Only the Russians and the IARC now discredited by bribery disagree.

@Mr. DroCro You idiot! Monsanto is GONE. Shut down. Absorbed. Only Bayer AG exists now. I listed THE ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD'S heath and safety agencies. How is a company that shut down two years ago capable of "buying off" the entire world?? Moron! No food you can get is 'natural' any more. That ended 10,000 years ago when we began breeding everything we eat. The FDA is going to ban the word 'natural' from labeling because it is very misleading. It fooled YOU which was certainly not hard to do...... But thanks for letting me make a total ass of you in this public venue.

Scientifically it isn’t toxic. The genes that are coded into the corn are mostly corn genome with just a small coding sequence from the bacteria added. The only part of the bacteria added is the sequence that codes for the protein that kills some bugs. It would be much worse without it because our yield would be considerably lower, and much more expensive. Your cells do not interact with this protein from the bacteria because we don’t have the same enzymes a bacteria has. It is broken down by the Acidic pH in your stomach where the protein dies/dentures.

If you are talking about the Ibrahim study on Bt corn and the rat jejenum, that study--among others--has been torn to shreds by Sanchez and Parrott's 2017 review on Bt crop studies. An excerpt: "Ibrahim and Okasha (2016) evaluated the effect of GM maize on the histological structure of jejunal mucosa of adult male albino rats using different histological, immunohistochemical and morphometrical methods. Histopathological changes were claimed in the intestine. These changes are the author's interpretation of the photographs, not the interpretation of a panel of experts. No analysis of the diet was provided, so the differences, if they are real, may be due to variations in nutrients and protein content instead of GM maize per se. Furthermore, no mycotoxin content was conducted and nothing is mentioned about the origin of crops, that is no information on how the crops were grown or whether pesticides were used."
