Күн бұрынWhen Dignitas announced the signing of Ninjas in Pyjamas' old Major-winning core, it was impossible to escape the negative comments.
Sure these players are legends, but they haven't done anything in pro play worth writing home about in quite some time. There are people who think a lot of these players should already have retired.
On paper, this roster should fail.
But what if...?

They won their first 3 games so far vs Avez, Sprout and Gamerlegion. Not that impressive of opponents except sprout but it was a good start. Also, Hallzerk is looking pretty impressive with the AWP right now. We will see how they do though, hope they prove the haters wrong!

Schmidty they played 7 or 8 series (one BO3) rest BO1 and won them all, HLTV didn’t have the whole qualifier only top 16/32 but they’ve qualified for the closed qual so it’s looking as good as can be so far

To be honnest, as i'm not a fan of them, qualifying on the first open qualifier prove that they are hungry and are still kinda sharp. I'm following Vitality, they've been in the same situation (having to qualify by open quals.) and had way more difficulties to get into the close qual Respect

2:02 is that you nitr0? jokes aside people comparing them to astralis is unreasonable. ofc they won’t be astralis. but the formula of a young awper around 4 experienced players worked with vitality, and while hallzerk is no zywoo, f0rest and hallzerk alone can definitely carry this team to being top20-15. merch value is a plus too

Can't really compare zywoo to hallzerk + f0rest. The only reason Vitality are in the top 20 is solely on behalf of zywoo. He is so incredibly skilled and rare as a player. Don't get me wrong, i love f0rest and hallzerk but the two of them combined probably still won't come close to the level of carry that zywoo does.

@@farmer0fhell one of the main reasons why Zywoo is as good as he is is due to the fact that he has 4 people working for him. He would not produce nearly as good numbers if he was playing on an actual super team.

The magic has been gone because they’ve been unable to keep up with strategy. Not because they’re old. I’d love to see em win, but they have a lot of work to do. That said, I believe in them.

It's seriously nostalgic stuff, and GTR especially will never give up on CS, working notoriously hard throughout his career. And this is a sick last hurrah, but f0rest was still putting up numbers, and he may be getting shafted by this new team experiment, as he still had a shot at winning with NiP. We can only hope that f0rest and hall can be enough firepower.

Hey man in fighting games the old heads are still monsters. I know reaction time, reflexes, twitch reactions and all that get reduced as you age but I think the OG monsters in any game can always make comebacks in they grind hard enough

They won their qualifier for the open minor, so they look to be off to a good start. Sure, there weren't very big teams there but there was GamerLegion and Sprout who you could consider to be top 30 opponents.

"to be in ones prime" is an expression which mostly comes from physical sports. Reaction time does not really drop that much until your 50s and even then you can keep a decent one with practice. There is no real reason why they should be "washed up", I feel like all of them still have potential to win, to beat themselves and improve beyond what everyone would think is possible.

you miss that esport players retire far younger than there physical colleagues because you cant lift weights (train in general) for 10 hours like you can practice cs go for example. this means that the minds of players are usually a lot more stressed which can be damaging over time. of course you can work against that with mental practice. still this is something to consider. so i would disagree, you could call them washed up. i just wouldnt^^ they are still capable to win. i just wanted to point out that you can have primes in esport.

Very wrong. First of all, reaction times do drop closing in to the 30s. Not a lot but for sure slower than a 18 y/o and this definitely has an impact in the game. And these players play cs for 10+ hours a day like the other comment says, it's perfectly possible that they just drop in performance after playing pro for 15 years. It's the brain that gets stressed over time. Also, teams want young blood, players that want to win everything and still have everything to give. This goes in contrast with players who already won everything and obviously aren't the same anymore.

@@carl7534 yes but also competition plays a role. as esports are so accessible, there's always an abundant stream of sick young kids coming into the game, who produce mind blowing plays. This forces established players to step up their game, which they can do up to certain age, but once they reach their top, these new younger kids will keep evolving even further and eventually replace the older generations. This replacement occurs much faster and more pronounced in esports, than it does on traditional physical sports.

Would love nothing more than to see this core make it to the top again, even if it takes a miracle. If Fnatic's last year has showed us anything, it's that there is a chance - and seeing those two teams going at it again at a high level would be amazing.

Emilio Molina not 3-0 they went 7-0. 6 bo1 and 1 bo3. I saw all games since Swedish streamer slop3 streamed the games but HLTV only showed the final 3 games.

The only thing a gamer loses with age is motivation and focus. They're definitely still up there in aim, game sense and reaction time. They are definitely not as hungry as they were when they started, when they were the best in the world, and they have other focuses IRL that detracts from the game. But as long as they can stay motivated; as long as they WANT to be there, they will always be professional players.

They can do everything on paper and I love every single guy in the NiP core. Of course because of legends, likeable persons and for instance 2015 line-up with allu that got me close as a Finn (They always praised him as a teammate). However, let's not get ahead of ourselves since only thing they have done so far is that they won Open Qualifier teams, especially Sprout as new roster, as well as Gamerlegion that has been awful so for long time.
