Took my motorcycle to the local village temple to have it blessed by the head monk and just a little info where I am staying at.

- My travels and everyday life Between Thailand and the United States. I Have been going to Thailand one to two times a year since 2014 to see family and enjoy the beautiful Country that I was born in. I just recently received my Thai citizenship ID and Thai passport. I haven't been to Thailand since I was born until 2014. It changed my life completely. I have a lifetime of catching up to do with all my Thai family. I also decided recently to start taking video of my travels to Thailand.
- What does my name Farang "LUKE" Isaan! mean? = Everyone at my Grandmas Village started calling me that so I decided to use that name on my channel. Farang means westerners or foreigners. luke or lôok means son or daughter. Parents will tend to refer to their child as lôok rather than using any of the second-person pronouns. and Isaan (Isan, Issan, Isaan, And Even Esan) means the northeastern part of Thailand.
- What camera gear do I use? Canon g7x mark II for my main video camera, Manfrotto mini tripod, Go-pro 4 black, Go-pro black session, Canon EOS 6D dlsr and I do my editing with Adobe premier pro.

actually I did very short blessing but it was mostly for the bike. I also had to ask what day to buy the motorcycle lol. And its good luck to leave the markings on the windscreen for protection

I was always curious about the blessed string bracelet. What is it's name?

I think they are called Sai Sin Bracelets. Every time I go back to see my family in Ubon my grandma use to get them blessed and tie them on my wrists for safe travels etc. And very common during Buddhist ceremonies and other events for example when my uncle became a monk we tied them on each other

Every time I see one of these videos where a car or bike gets blessed, I just imagine that the monk in quesion is sitting in the temple, with a lot of paperwork to do, and then rolls his eyes when his assistant tells him another foreigner is here, willing to pay cash to get his car blessed. The monk just sighs, puts his pen down, and gets up to bless the car.

Its absolutely un heard of and bad "luck" not doing this in Thailand when buying a vehicle of any kind or a house and or building a house.. They way of life is just much different there than what we are use to. I have become very good friends with this monk there at my families village. They even told me what day of the week to purchase it and when to bring it in the get it blessed. And I know you may not be talking about this monk though so all good lol ..We do it here in the states also when buying a vehicle and tie a white string somewhere up high inside. (we as in my parents and I)

They do it to new houses being built, new or used cars?motorcycles bought. just they way they do it in northeast Thailand . They will even tell you the best day for you to buy one. ...the way of life there 🙏🙏

There is just something wrong in this. Maybe it's the fact you get a devout man that has given up such wasteful and boast full objects and get him to bless your greed. Or maybe his efforts to live in harmony and not be wasteful and you are the absolute antithesis of that. I hope they charge a fortune for this so they can do some good from it.

its normal and customary for a thai person to get their new vehicle blessed by the local monk from the family temple , regardless what it is. a scooter, big bike or truck etc. This is completely normal there but may not look like it to poeple from abroad . They even recommend to give you the best day to purchase it. And then its also normal to go play the lottery with your new tag number haha

The only thing wrong I see here is your lack of knowledge about other cultures and yet making value judgment with an western mentality.
