Whoop whoop, well done with the awards. You guys are great embasadors (sp?) for family farming and environmental improvements. We have quite a few changes coming down the track. I said yesterday farming is like playing football but we don’t know where the goals are. We all want to score but the government keeps moving the net.Have a good week 😎

Hey Alistair, well done on the Ballance Farm Awards and Godzone! I said g'day to you at TA3 Hope Arm if you remember. Unfortunately had to head back to the farm from TA8 at the end of the Takitimu's before you guys came in. Great effort to get through it all. What did you think of the course overall?

Reminds me of the story of my grandfather. My grandmother told me she told him if his cussing didn’t stop when the children were out helping him, then the children would no longer be allowed to help. 😁

New to this channel and just wondering why so many dogs. . they don't look too obedient

@@pixie706 That many dogs is the norm for a farm, they all have particular jobs. This particular day, one or two were rather exuberant, sometimes happens if they are eager for work and the work is yard work and not out on the paddocks or hills, letting them let off steam.

The energy of working dogs is incredible. In the main busy season they are working most days if not every day!

Thanks for watching. we have 2 main hunterways (noise) 2 main Heading dogs (quite dogs which bring stock to you) and 2 older retired dogs. They havent had a lot of work as of late and are very wound up.

Hi Alistair welcome done on the God zone I was so gutted when the black line showed up was the team was doing really well. Great effort on the wards was funny seeing you in a suit . That pipe that snapped off I would join it up as it was but sleeve it maybe or so that box you made if that sitting on top of pipe it may squash it maybe use a 50 mm hole saw to cut out a 100 mm high u shape at each end that slides over pipe so the box can sit on something solid and will not move

@@kiwifarmernz oh one other tip I noticed the California thistle are flowering now is the time to spray them for optimal results. There is even a university study on it Long story to explain why

I enjoy your videos. All the work you did on irrigation is it working out for you? Also, do you train the dogs or do you buy them already trained? Do you have 50 pairs of the same shorts 🩳 or, do you just wear them every time you make a video? 🤔

Just out of interest how many ewes and how many cows would you be running on what sort of acreage

1400 ewes 120 cows over 625 ha total.

Similar numbers to me 1800 ewes 100 cows on 400 hecters I'd say Similar to you we have a farm on the bottom of the valley and then 2 Hill farms few miles up the road if you're in wales sometime come have a look, you're doing a great job keep it up👍
