That was all him, bro. Even if prisons started focusing on rehabilitation (as they should), it wouldn't 'fix' people automatically. Same reason therapy isn't foolproof, the person as an individual has to want to make changes in their life. If they don't and want to keep fucking around, nothing anybody says to or does for them is going to fix them.

He also gave an inmate a job in one of his famous restaurants, in London. Gordon Ramsay has a Junkie- Brother & he comes from a rough childhood, so he has a heart for the underclass. The TV- show was really entertaining & interesting. You might like it.

It’s scary place the prison system. My dad was in and out all his life. He never told us the awful things about being locked up. He must been watching out for us. I am 62 now and never spent more than 5 days in jail. My dad spent probably 1/2 his life in and out.

I visited my uncle in this prison when I was 8 yrs old. It was 1980. I wish my grandmother hadn’t taken me there. No child should ever visit a prison. I remember a man in a wheelchair falling out of his wheelchair while crossing the street and no one stopped to help him. That’s what I remember about Atlanta.

Larry these videos are great, I love being able put a picture to the stories you tell. Lots of KZfaqrs will settle for mediocre easy content. You go all out and it shows, big time, you can see the passion and that you're 100% genuine. That's a really rare thing in this day and age with people shilling non stop and advertisers down everyone's throat. Don't change, you've changed my views on prison hugely after reading your book as well, I was someone who thought let the conditions be a deterrent however I now realize that is a horrible strategy. We need rehabilitation, drug users and non violent offenders do not need to be in with killers and thugs, it's not the guards responsibility to enforce punishment just because someone is in prison. Keeping control and authority and excessive force is a fine line to walk. This is coming from a younger guy who is a big supporter of law enforcement and the human element behind the badge and job.

It's not on Moreland that's actually University Ave and Boulevard. It's actually one of the worst parts of Atlanta as far as crime and drugs.

I went through Atlanta Holdover. It was definitely the worst part of my journey through the system. Almost all of the jumpsuits they issued were torn or modified in someway. No issued shower shoes, some people who brought some from wherever they were before got to have em, but that's it. Speaking of showers, there were only two ahiwers that worked while I was there, and with very little rec, well, I didn't end up getting a single shower in while I was there. No lights in the shower either. Was there a week and we had no rec for the whole day about 3 out of those days, I think there was only one day where we had full rec. It was also not very well taken care of, you could tell how old the place was and how little they cared about maintaining it. I will say, in the mornings they had this banana bread usually, it was decent, that's the only good thing I can say about the place.

Sometimes when Larry says what he did, I start counting the years regarding the statute of limitations.... but surely he knows what he can share

Interesting video. My dad did time in federal prison and was ultimately moved to a camp near the end of his sentence. He spent about a month in USP Atlanta before he got sent to the prison he ended up at. He said his time in Atlanta was the worst period of his life.
