My IKEA is at least 40 minutes away too. Love taking a trip there with my (grown) daughter... and we drive through Starbucks at least once... sometimes before and after!!! (PS - they know me by name too... I see NOTHING wrong with that!!)

It would be interesting (at least to me) if you did a video mid year or after this school year with hits and misses. How did these items you bought hold up? Did they function as you expected? Did they wear out too soon or as would be expected being used every day by a classroom of students? Would you purchase them again? Did the kids like them? I would find it interesting to know. I love the play house! A few years ago, we were instructed to remove our play kitchen, water & sand box :( Kindergarten in NYC is more like how a first grade class used to be.

My Ikea is about 20 minutes away - and it's conveniently on my way into school. I teach year 5 here in the UK (4th grade) and I have to say I'm so shocked at how much American teachers have to buy to make their classrooms comfy and cute. Here, the general rule is that all of the furniture and resources necessary for the class is provided by the school. including things like shelving, trays and bins. The only things I've ever had to buy for my own classroom were little things like decorations for my notice board and loads of pillows to make the reading area cosy.

My nearest IKEA is 434 miles away, like around 6 hours from me. I live in New Mexico and there aren't any IKEA's here, but I used to live in San Diego and there was a IKEA less than 5mins away from my home.

3.5-4 hours is our nearest Ikea ! We only have 1 in our entire country! I live in Ireland .(well I think there is a click and collect one too but it's also 3.5-4hours) probably best because I'd spend all my money there 😂

Hi, I'm so envious that you're allowed to put that play house and carpets, from Craig's list and IKEA, in your classroom! Where I teach those items would not meet fire code regulations! Everything we put in our class must be purchased from a division approved store, which means it usually cost 10x's what you would pay at IKEA (also not nearly as cute). You're So lucky! Your room looks so inviting....I'm sure your little ones love it💕Where did you say you teach?

The closest one to me is in Philadelphia and it's 30 minutes away, but there's another one i can go to only 20 minutes farther and if i am really desperate, there are about 4 more :D

15 minutes drive for the one and then there is another one about 30 minutes away :) they are quite popular in Germany :)

I don't have a local IKEA but maybe in another year or so I will. There are plans for one anyways. I was just curious if you spend your money, the school gives you a budget or if you turn in receipts, etc. I work for a private preschool with a kindergarten program and we turn in receipts but they are still fairly tough on what we buy.

This might be a little late, but that cola thing at IKEA doesn’t say the brand because actually nobody in Europe cares about the brand of cola they drink. Like in a restaurant you’ll just order cola (or diet cola whatever you prefer) and you’ll just get whatever kind they have at the restaurant
