My mechanical pencil usage depends on what I write. If I will be writing Japanese, I use my Uni Kurutoga pencil with 0.5mm lead. The mechanism keeps the pencil lead sharp so it looks neater that way. Otherwise I use 0.7mm for general writing.

For me junior year was the easiest so far but everyone has different experiences. Just make sure you don’t procrastinate!! (Probably why it went so well for me haha) Good luck!!💗
