@Dmg Control I know, it was just the way that she said it that was funny. Sometimes you can say something offensive in a way that can be funny. Ashleigh didn't actually mean it literally. Not sure you got it when the guy from the band called his cousin to show "the new sound he was looking for". The cousin was Chuck Berry, the author of the song. It's a temporal paradox... Chuck Berry created the song, Marty plays a cover of it before Chuck Berry composed the song, and Chuck Berry learns the song he himself created in another timeline.

Imagine how upset George is 12 or so years later when their 3rd child is born and looks exactly like that guy his wife had a crush on back in high school. AND she wants to name him Marty.
@jamesbooty
@jamesbooty 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, surely that would have aroused some suspicions and is a definite plot hole. Also.... since we know that in the revised 1985 Doc now has the letter Marty gave him in 1955 and is talking the preventative measure of wearing a bullet proof vest, then why wouldn't he also take some measures to prevent Marty from accidentally traveling back in time when running from the terrorists... since he clearly knows all the trouble that caused.... .... and the fact that the entire plot of the 3rd movie didn't need to happen... but that's a conversation for another time. As with any time travel movie, it's probably best not to think too hard about it :D
@moriellymoproblems7842
@moriellymoproblems7842 3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesbooty It's not a plot hole at all. There would be no reason for them to become suspicious. Plus I'm not sure which rules of time travel you're following, because there are no rules. Sorry to burst your bubble lol.
@jamesbooty
@jamesbooty 3 жыл бұрын
@@moriellymoproblems7842 - I'm following the rules established by the film, such as that when future events are changed, they create an alternate timeline which skews from the original, and continues down its own unique path from there. In the version of 1985 that Marty returns to at the end of Part1, Doc remembers meeting him in 1955. He brought the letter from that encounter with him to the mall for the time machine test, he wears a bullet proof vest, and he and Marty also talk briefly about what was said when he was given the letter. Given all that, surely he: 1 - already knows the time machine works 2 - knows all the trouble that is created by Marty accidentally travelling back in time when running from the terrorists So, one has to wonder why he doesn't take any measures to prevent that. Perhaps it's because he knows that it all works out - and maybe even for the better since surely over the course of their friendship, he and Marty have talked about how this improved Marty's family life.... but this then begs the question about how he and Marty become friends in this timeline. And - George and Lorraine clearly remember their encounters with Marty since George writes a book inspired by them. Therefore, he would have to get suspicious when their third child - which they name Marty - ends up looking, sounding, and acting exactly like the guy that helped them get together 30 years ago.
@jamesbooty
@jamesbooty 3 жыл бұрын
@Move_I_Got_This - :D right!? The more you think about it, the less sense the end of Part1 makes. A more likely scenario would have actually been that when Marty returned to the (now lone pine) mall, Doc wouldn't have even been there - having no need to test his new time machine that night... all sorts of stuff probably would have been different, and Marty would have still been a fish out of water.... but that doesn't make as good of a movie ending :)
@blacktronlego
@blacktronlego 3 жыл бұрын
Marty only spent a week back in 1955, they probably forgot about him. They would remember George standing up to Biff, but not that Marty engineered the situation (which Lorraine never knew anyway). When he was born he wouldn't look like he does as a teenager (Fun fact: Michael J Fox played teenagers well into his 30s because he is quite short and has boyish features).

The Guitars of Back To The Future: Chiquita - The tiny yellow one in the opening scene. A "one-off" custom shop job. The one you see is the only one in existence. Made in USA Ibanez Roadstar - The black one Marty is playing at the band audition. In 1987 the Roadstar was slightly re-designed by Steve Vai and was named the RG (Roadstar Guitar). The Ibanez RG is still in production today. The Roadstar was made in Japan, as were the early RG's and higher end modern day ones too. Budget friendly RG's are made in Indonesia. Ibanez guitars: RG, Iceman, Destroyer, are geared more for rock and metal with their ridiculously thin neck and "floating" tremolo bridge. Gibson ES-358 - The red hollowbody electric Marty is playing with the band at the dance in 1955. The producers originally wanted Marty playing an ES-335 but it is slightly bigger and made Michael J Fox look even smaller. So they went with the ES-358, which in real life wasnt actually made until 1958. Gibson electric guitars: Les Paul, SG, Explorer, Flying V, and of course their hollowbodies, are made in USA and are a staple in any and every genre of music. From gospel to heavy metal, Gibson is the cream of the crop in guitar world. The Ibanez Destroyer was a copy of the Gibson Explorer. Gibson sued Ibanez and lost due to minor design tweaks by Ibanez. Gibson and Ibanez are still friendly rivals to this day over that. Bonus Fun Fact: ABSOLUTELY EVERY GUITAR SOUND YOU HEAR IN THIS MOVIE ACTUALLY BEING PLAYED BY EDDIE VAN HALEN.

Something you might have missed, before Marty went back in time to 1955, the mall was called Twin Pines Mall because the farmer who use to own the land, old man Peabody, grew a pair of Pine trees on his farm. When Marty was avoiding being shot by him in 1955, Marty accidently ran over one of the Pine trees. When we get back to 1985 and Marty runs up to the mall, the name has changed to Lone Pine Mall.

When this film was first released, it was intended to be a stand alone one. However, due to it being the biggest box office hit of 1985, it had many people wanting more and wondering what happens next. So, they released parts 2 and 3 a few years later. Most of the main cast returned, but the notable exception ended up in a matter that caused some controversy. I guarantee you'll like parts 2 and 3 if you have a look at them.

Take it from me Ellie, I was 30 when this came out and even then we knew there wouldn't be flying cars by the 2000s, or 2020s for that matter! LOL! Electric cars, yes. Not flying ones. "Some shouldn't even be driving on the ground, let alone flying over your neighborhood", most generally said and still do BTW. And tens of thousands of them?!! My understanding is the last scene was a joke and not something super serious. But, because it was such big hit movie the public demanded a sequel and a few years later they produced the final two, which was filmed essentially back to back. The producers and the director said if they knew there would be sequels, they'd have ended without a flying car. But, I will warn you not to watch the very, very end of Part II because they'll show a lot of scenes for Part III. So if you don't want see the spoiler scenes, stop the next movie at the end right when it says "To Be Concluded". Most definitely do Part II and III later. Fun series and a lot of thought and work went into it. And the time-paradoxes are interesting to contemplate. Time travel shows are fun! If you like to see a real George Pal classic do "The Time Machine" (1960), and then after the 2002 remake. Both are good adaptations of H.G.Wells 1895 novel. 😁👍

The can of dog food automatically is opened, emptied then dropped into the waste basket. It's a clever way to indicate that A) the doc is probably an inventor, B) he and the dog haven't been home for some time (see the overflowing dog bowl and numerous cans in the basket) and C) he took the dog with him and forgot to turn off the device. By the way, Kal Kan (seen on the cans) is a real dog food brand (love that product placement).

You think Ellie's enjoyment of this movie created the existence of your day? That the day itself would have ceased to be otherwise? Or did you mean "figuratively" instead of "literally"?

"You built a time machine...out of a DeLorean?" is a joke because in real life, the DeLorean was a horribly unreliable car, hence why the engine cuts out before Marty's time jump and after he arrives.
@firstenforemost
@firstenforemost 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think the joke was because DeLorean's were unreliable, but because it was considered a very odd, but "cool" car, and building a time machine out of any car was odd.

FYI, historically, the song "Johnny B. Goode" was released in 1958 (by Chuck Berry, the guy on the other end of the phone), so Marty was about 3 years early with his rendition. Of course, his stylings at the _end_ of his performance were quite a bit more out of sync with 1955!

Doc was hanging, holding on to cables but he only "functioned" as a conductor. Because his legs were NOT touching the ground he would not get electrified. Also this is trilogy of the movies you realy should watch all three. And one more extra there were made some prototypes of hower like cars only fuel for it was too big to spend. It was just like some test models.

Flying cars in 2015? That's how we viewed the 2000s back then. Anyway, there are Back to the Future reunions every few years where the actors come and meet with fans sign autographs etc. The guy who played Biff is a loyal contributor to all of this and really supports the brand. He enthusiastically participates Back to the Future as it is his (and others) claim to fame.
