Well...I'm sure if they'd have portrayed everyone in the future walking along the street looking at small devices which could literally give them any information or media they wanted at a moments notice and had people apparently listening to music or holding conversations with no one around with no headphones or visible microphone...that all may well have seemed a little exaggerated. In fact one might argue one has to exaggerate when predicting the future, I just think they didn't get it quite right, but why would we expect them to. Though you probably are rght about some of the _predictions_ I mean flying cars, hoverboards and re hydrated meals were probably a little wacky!

I was born in 89 so I missed these on their first run in theaters. However My local theater had a showing of the entire trilogy on the day Doc and Marty came to 2015. I jumped at the chance to got to see these on the big screen! In the second film when Doc said the line: "We are descending towards Hill Valley, California, at 4:29 pm, on Wednesday, October 21st, 2015." The entire theater erupted in cheers and applause. You couldn't hear the movie for a second or two It was awesome!

2:00 The beginning of BTTF2 wasn't the same scene, they had to redo it because the actress who plays Jennifer changed (the original actress couldn't make it for the sequel for personal reasons). Honestly I think Elizabeth Shue (Jennifer #2) is a good comedic actress so it works 👍 Honestly they never intended to make a sequel, but because of the way it ended they made sequels due to fan demand, so I consider these sequels as icing on the cake 🎂

Just because no one's mentioned my favorite bit of trivia for BTTF II, George McFly is also not played by Crispin Glover. They have a different actor playing him, but wearing a Crispin Glover mask. 7:36 The stunt went really badly wrong. All 3 were supposed to go through the glass, so when the one on the left hit the column and dropped, she went about 20 feet onto concrete, requiring a fair bit or surgery to rebuild bones in her face and wrist. In a really weird prologue, she and her then-husband were killed earlier this year in a gunfight with her ex-husband and his current wife, apparently over a trust fun set up for the daughters she'd had with her ex.

Biff would not have come back to the same timeline that Doc and Marty are in 2015. Biff would have traveled to the alternate 2015 timeline he created for himself. The guy that gave Marty the idea to use time travel for gambling (played by Charles Fleisher, the voice of Roger Rabbit) is wearing a clear tie. That and Old Marty's double tie are in there in part because the directors think ties are kinda dumb anyway, and I have to say I agree. Why wear a clear tie if you can't see it? Why wear a double tie when one is easier? Well, why wear a tie at all? It's a bit of cloth hanging from your neck that vaguely denotes status. Kinda bonkers if you think about it.

Yeah, they were off on a lot of stuff. Japan was a huge economic powerhouse in the 1980's, and they probably thought their influence on business and fashion would persist into the next century (it most definitely didn't). You can also see ads for Vietnam having evolved into a beach vacation destination. (Some place like Croatia would've been a better guess). There's a newspaper article referring to a female president and another mentioning "Queen Diana". (awkward!) No one here seems to have a smartphone. On the other hand, they were actually only one year off in predicting the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series. They actually won in 2016, but considering the last time they won was *1908*, that's pretty good. (There is no Miami team, which is why Marty said "Against Miami???")
@keyserxx

Marty's Dad from the first film was the actor Crispin Glover (he's a nut as well as a great actor) there was a disagreement over pay so they decided not to put him in the second film use an actor that looked like him plus prosthetics and turn him upside down. The Crispin Glover sued for using his likeness without permission and won. Ever since its been illegal for a film to feature likeness of someone without paying them some money to do so.

So, some people have ideas about why our 2015 looked so different from theirs, and my favourite theory comes from a number of different sources, but mostly Cracked videos. In the first movie, Marty does two things that are witnessed by many people, he sort of invents the skateboard and does some wicked moves on it, and he performs an adequate but inferior version of "Johnny B Goode". He introduced the skateboarder as a badass decades before that happened in our timeline, and he ruined rock and roll before it got off the ground. The powerful and prescient geeks in our universe wanted to listen to their music collections more efficiently. That gave us the mp3 player, which lead to the smartphone, which launched the second computer age. In the universe where Marty went back and medford with his parents' meeting, skateboarding held the imagination of those important geeks, giving them the Hoverboard, which then branched into vehicle technology, giving them the Hovercars. And, as cool as we like to think Hovercars would be, they really wouldn't. You notice part of the plot, the reason they couldn't prevent the Jennifers from meeting... was a traffic jam. Meanwhile, we're working on autonomous vehicles that are not only proving to be orders of magnitude safer than human drivers, but also greatly reduce jams when enough of them are on the road and able to share traffic info. All in all, I think we got the better universe anyway. One last thing, long before Trump ran for president, the directors of this movie are on record as saying that they based the wealthy 1985 "Vegas Biff" on Donald Trump.

On the down side it comes off a little excessive when watching them back to back.

Yes but they pretended he was still in the film. Also Glover said he complained about the "messages" being sent by the film, like getting something of monetary value at the end.
