We knew Carmy wasn’t really at the funeral because he tells Fak in season one “I don’t know, I wasn’t there” when Fak tells him he’s sorry he couldn’t go to the funeral and sent flowers instead (“I hope they looked nice”). But it was a nice surprise to see him go even from afar.

I loved this episode so much omg the dialogue was minimalistic… almost non-existent, and yet it was another masterclass in an episode of television. Consistency and excellence is key. This episode was executed with utmost perfection. It passed by so smoothly but left me with a very sinking feeling. The quality is still there, and the callbacks are making things make so much more sense. And it all leads back to here: Tomorrow. This felt almost illegal to watch because of how personal and intimate it was. It felt like I was looking through a window of someone’s life (Carmy’s). Onto the ‘Next’ one! (See what I did there? 🙈)

While i can see why this episode is not for everyone, I personally loved it. This and the finale are my faves. When rewatching it is interesting because it contains a lot of elements that come back throughout the season.

This is one of the greatest episodes of television ever. The way the film is shot, the cinematography, the soundtrack throughout the entire episode, the montage of past and present, fucking amazing.

Apparently some people weren’t feeling this opening ep but I loved it. After all the stress of season 2 (I still haven’t recovered from Fishes) I loved a more calm opening seeing Carmy’s journey. Also the cinematography is beautiful.

The flashback to them standing and watching a tow truck out in the cold was the immediate aftermath of Fishes - you could tell based on the Faks wearing their silly matching Xmas outfits that Big Neil bought for them using Kohl's Cash. Also notable that this is the first time we see Claire, watching Carmen from down the block on the night of his mom's Christmas meltdown (it appeared the whole neighborhood came out of their homes when they heard Donna crash the car through the house). Not sure if they ever spoke between that night and the night they bumped into each other in the grocery store in S2E2, five years later. But it was very clear that Claire has had feelings for Carm that long predate her introduction last season.

Since Bryce commented on it, the music is Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross. So good!

It's always interesting to me to see how people deal with silence.

My favorite part of this episode was seeing the four chefs that helped shaped him. Everything from calm and educational, to calm and perfectionist, quiet and studious, and psychotic and pushing.

Carmy told Neil back in 1x01 that he never attended Michael's funeral after Neil had said he sent flowers.

Two fun facts. 1. The out door farm scenes are from NOMA in Copenhagen. Jeremy was excited when he found out the chefs there and some others were excited to meet him. 2. Now you mention a race .... Jeremy found out they were excited because they do a semi annual exercise marathon and wanted him to participate. Maybe they saw Iron Claw and the Calvin Klien ad 😂. Anyway Jeremy stated he thought he was fit but those chefs smoked him!

Also shout out to David Zayas who Tina is married to in real life for being in the show as her husband

Thanks, Rob! Thanks, Bryce! 🍽 I watched this this morning. It was like a meditative and very stylish prologue to the season.

"Show don't Tell" a masterclass. We knew the stories from before which made the glimpses through film amazing. It was a reinforcement and yet it still gave us a better perspective. That Sydney twist at the end was superb. This show is so good.

This season was a lot more chill than the past ones

I am so interested to see how you guys feel about the season as a whole. I still really enjoyed it, but there are more "controversial" choices made this season compared to the last two. But this episode is just incredible.

This whole season especially episode 6 ❤️‍🔥. But yeah this episode when it started I thought I was ready and then it hit me like whoa it's been almost 5 minutes and not a single line of dialogue has been spoken and yet I felt all the emotions. We already know that they're going to clean up once again come awards season!!

This episode oh my goodness, the emotional ride, the understanding of so many things, it felt as if you were Bear. This episode was a 10/10 for me. For me The Bear and The Wire 🤌🏽

We learned from Carmy in season one that he did not go to the funeral. We just didn't know he was outside.

personally, i loved this episode. it gives the audience an idea of where carmy's mind at currently. i'm a little over half way through this season and it's still my favorite one so far by the way, the music (or better, song) in this episode is by the same guys that did the "Challengers" score (and many other fire soundtracks as well)

I love season3, but it's VERY different to the previous seasons. To explain a little bit as to why it's the way it is, they shot season3-4 at the same time!!! So it's more like season3 part 1 and season 3 part 2. I don't think that's spoilers, just a foreshadow of expectations.

Loved this episode.

Carmy tried to liven up the chefs at Ever. Bring some energy from The Beef in to push the other chefs and Terry shut that down quick.

I wasnt really a huge fan of this episode. Maybe i just wasnt in the right mindset for it, im tired as fuck, but it kinda lost me. I still respect the hell out of the artistic angle they had going on.
