I've spent a lot of time playing gypsy jazz. The right hand techniques for Irish folk are similar - please can you suggest plectrum gauges for Irish as Gypsy has extremely thick picks (2mm to 3mm). Thanks from Devon, UK ( a hot bed of trad folk and I've been invited to audition for a Scottish fiddler )

Hi Karl--it's generally kind of the opposite! I play a .73mm nylon Dunlap, which is a pretty common choice. you really never are called upon to take a solo or anything, so having the flexible pick makes it easier to play lightly for the rhythm.
