This video was done in Corel X6 but will work for older versions also. This video shows how to remove a background from a photo. We also use a drop shadow and power clip to finish our project.

Yes I do this. But it can be labor intensive. I wonder if there's an intelligent s/w just for this specific application which has the smarts to differentiate object from background. That would be really nice.

I have a problem with the picture, the "edit bitmap" button is grey and i cant click it. What can I do?
@Coreldrawhelp9 жыл бұрын
The first thing to check is that the "Bitmap" is selected. then the button should be active. Also make sure the object selected is a "Bitmap" not a Document Object.

I have been using photo paint 9 to edit photos. I cut out the background a lot and it's very tedious on that program. I saw this video and then purchased Paint shop pro X6. It does not seem to have cutout lab. Do you know what's up with that?

whitneydrums This tutorial is on Corel Photo Paint, I have no idea what is available with Paint Shop Pro.

how to shape the background like making it a heart shape?
@Coreldrawhelp10 жыл бұрын
You can make the Oval any shape like and it will give you the same effect. So I your case draw a Heart and Power Clip the Photo into the hear.

@michellemccartan27616 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video, very helpful! This is almost exactly what I'm trying to do, but my image has several straight lines. How do you draw straight lines using the highlighter tool? The usual control key doesn't seem to work in the cutout lab, and my freehand straight lines are really bad (unless I'm doing it wrong which is totally possible!). I'm using Corel Draw x8.
@Coreldrawhelp6 жыл бұрын
As far as I know there is not a way to force a line to be "Straight". But it should not matter that much. As long as the highlight covers the line, the exact "Straightness" should be determined by the artwork not the highlighter.
@michellemccartan27616 жыл бұрын
Thank you for answering, I guess I can make the highlight tool wider & then clean it up afterwards.

I'd rather use powertrace, use specify to remove all background colors, than create a boundary around the vectorized object and use The resulting outline to intersect with The original bitmap
