Nice machine positioning Frank. Lotta guys would have killed the edge of the ditch straddling it like that. Can't wait to see your new quick coupler. Gotta be better than what Case gave us on the N series backhoes.

I’m an engineer with 40 years under my belt and sometimes footing keyways are necessary to provide adequate code-required sliding resistance for cantilevered reinforced concrete retaining walls. It’s that or you would need to increase the footing width an intolerable amount to provide the required sliding resistance utilizing the available frictional force development between the bottom of footing and the excavated soil surface. I agree with you though - it does suck to have to construct footing keyways.
