Backing up HyperV using Synology Active Backup
We backup all of our HyperV virtual machines while they are running with Synology Active Backup

You can create 1 task called nightly and select multiple vms to be backed up as part of the task. Having a task per vm is not bad, just extra steps and management of VMs.

Excellent. was looking at Nova Backup. Finding out which model supports vm backups on the synology side

DoYou tray backup proxmox vms via ABFB using method for VMWARE ESXi - I mean via ssh shel? - meybe that will work for proxmox host

Proxmox has a pretty robust backup solution built in already, you just point it at a share and do all the setup on the host. It supports samba and nfs which makes it really easy. I use this for nightly backups of my more critical VMs.

The catch is that it doesn’t do incremental, just full. If you want rotating incremental, then you have to run a proxmox backup sever.

thank you for your tutorial i would like to ask you please if you can help me i'm using a synology 923+ and i want to make backup for a VM from a hyper-v host when i configure in synology virtual machine i add in hyper v section, i can see the vm like in your video at 7:02 min , but when the backup process starts i got more warnings and errors: the VM failed to be backed up, failed to retrive the change blocks (CBT) and the backup failed, what im doing wrong its necessary to install the agent on hyper-v host ?, thank you in advance.

hey, uncle Joe, i am having a trouble with administrative share G$ is not enabled, i already tried the toturial which synology DS423+ provided, hmm and wondering if you got any solution for me? thanks a lot :)
