Yong didn't even try with this, he's better than this. The director didn't even sit down and TRY to make damn sure Kiryu's send off dub was actually, I dunno, half decent? I think YongYea was a miscast 100%, but the fact that the director didn't even TRY to at least direct the damn miscast turns a major mistake into a fucking giant one.

The biggest problem is not his performance or the miscast. what made people hate him even more is he acting smug and hypocrite about it. like his "I EARNED KIRYU" comment that show his arrogance if he just let down his head and apologize for lacklauster performace and promise to do better next time, then i think people would be more willing to give him another chance but nah instead he havingf a meltdown block all the negative feedback even those who actually defended him (LMAO). it's ironic because his channel revovle around he criticize other game companies but when the criticism thrown at his face he can't take it and act excactly like the company he always criticize

The replaced Daryl because he's white and there is this ridiculous outrage in the voice acting community where they believe that it is not right for someone to voice a character that does not share the same race as them. So good voice actors like Daryl get the boot while garbage ones like Yong get to slime their way in to replace them. But even this is a hypocritical act as YongYea is of Korean descent while Kiryu is Japanese. So, I don't know where the line gets drawn anymore. All I know is that we (as fans) are the ones who now have to suffer as a result of this bs. My solution is to just continue playing Yakuza with the Japanese audio and English subtitles as always.

I know yakuza dub is goofy to begin with, but it's had it moments and actors actually fit the characters they voiced. How the fuck could they misscast this badly? And, autotune in karaoke? Really? With performance like that he deserves to get clowned on even more than he already is. Well, at least on the bright side more people will experience original voices, since Kuroda's performance luckily, is stellar as always.

Having seen his voice acting for the new Yakuza Game, I can tell that while Yong Yea isn't horrible for Kiryu, the iconic character of the Yakuza series, he certainly isn't the best fit for the character himself. Normally I would let it slide, but after seeing the comments about Yong Yea defending himself and creating a convenient scapegoat for himself, I looked further. After some research, I believe that Yong Yea's statement about "Earning Kiryu" isn't completely genuine. It is possibly a publicity stunt, and he may be using the backlash to farm more clout for his channel. Given that his channel is mainly about criticism, and many comments point out the irony of him being unable to take criticism, I sense that he's pretending to be butthurt for the sake of clout.
