Hi Mark! In my opinion, when it comes to back pack , there are two group of people that I think were identified as the primary user before it becomes a modern innovation for everyone. It's the Military Soldiers who used Rucksack for all their equipment, personal things, arms and weapons. The other one are those school children from long time ago who tied their books with straps and sling it on their back. Thus it was called Book pack. Now, it is fashionable, convenient and it's used mostly by everyone: hikers, travelers, students from all levels, professional.. even toddlers too haha! I owned two Knapsacks. Big one like yours for travel and small one that I used for work. Thank you for this lesson. Happy traveling!
