Күн бұрын

I started my journey in El Salvador in the beach town of El Tunco. I actually ended up staying for a whole week because I just loved the chilled vibes of the town. It is super popular for surfing and we visited the gorgeous waterfalls of Tamanique as well!

FAQ's
How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these KZfaq videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. I used to simply just work any temporary job I could find to save up to travel! I budget the money I earn meticulously to reach my savings goals using www.backpackin...
Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

I think it is good you went w the guide. Remember that tourism is still pretty new there. Many of these places have not been well developed w proper signage, paths, parking, etc. like you might see in other tourist destinations. The air of safety is also still very new to the country and it is probably in your best interest to have a guide. It wasn't too long ago people were too scared to venture to these places for fear of the gangs. I think this is something people need to keep in mind.

$70 a night is actually insanely high for that area. I always stay at the Hotel La Guitarra and pay $12 a night, $396 for 33 nights for a private room with a bathroom. This is one of the most popular spots to stay in El Tunco, very nice rooms with a porch, chair and hammock, good breakfast, pool, restaurant, gaming area, bar, live music, very clean and safe facility with friendly staff. There are so many other great steals that are right on or near the beach area for much less here. This is my 2nd time staying here and visiting El Tunco and $70 was not a good deal at all, no disrespect for that particular hostal.hotel.

gosh, I`ve only started my trip really and already spent 10 days in the same place because I found somewhere I really liked and just wanted to chill there. Not every day needs to be a travel day, but also traveling slowly makes you experience places differently, I really enjoy getting to know a town and its people

Hi! Spanish speaker here. I noticed when your motorbike didn’t start and you were talking to the guy, you thought he said “the orange one” or “La naranja” but what he was actually saying or asking was “no arranca?” So he was asking if it didn’t start. Arranca is to start. It sounded like he said naranja tho. Anyway, just thought I’d mention it in case that word comes up again and it could help you!

Funny story, I went there last April and after the drive to the top of mountain and down the the waterfall I ran out of gas there. I found this man and asked him where I could get gas and he brought me to a house and the man there filled my car up with gas from gallon milk jugs lol it was a pretty cool experience

Hey Marlon here again thanks a lot for adding the El Tunco adventure next time stay at least a day in el Zonte, is a better beach for sure. But im so glad you enjoy it and realized the advantage of the guide in Tamanique I think is worth it for the experience and safety (not getting lost) 😂 next santa ana? Thats where im from hopefully you made it to Coatepeque one of my favorite places in the world. Right there with Monument Valley, Mt. Cook and let me think alright Bath hahahahaha

Hello Camille: Marlon Here a salvadorean leaving oversees but I know very well la Libertad so let me try to advise you. El Zonte has better beach divided in 2 areas the surf area some rocks in the beach and the beach gorgeous one. Night life nothing compares to El Tunco so as a staying poind at a cheaper rate el tunco has the most options in La libertad El Zonte will have less and may be more expensive.
@marlonvasquez6627
@marlonvasquez6627 Жыл бұрын
But if you want to visit other places in El Salvador then stay in Tunco youll find traveling agencies and loads of restaurants and night life the beach is not the best but when tyde is low then is ok. El Tunco developed because surfing waves not beach which is ok

Good idea el Zonte is at 15 minutes driving so not a big issue. If you want a more backpacking style el tunco if you want a more quite environment El Zonte (i mean to spend the night) in the day you can move around between beaches or San Salvador or the north west (santa ana, coffe mountains, ruta de las flores, volcanos etc) othe other hand much more under developed but better beaches is Las Flores and Punta Mango amaizing beaches there are some nice hotels and cheap in this season. Let me know if you need any advise or have questions
