As we leave Lac La Croix Lake. To find a place to camp near Curtain Falls. To our amazement. All of the campsites were taken. And that is because if you come through Canada. The Canadian side is not protected. And you can use motorboats. So instead of canoeing up the Moose River with nine potages. You just drive to Canada and catch a boat ride to where you only have one potage. So we headed back the other way to find our next camp. Just as we settled in for the night. In came the high winds. Just as the canoe touched the shore.

Friends of mine did a summer boundary water canoe trip. When they were coming back into the US suddenly they had the hardest time. Tons of security & very time consuming. Questions galore. Finally they learned about 9-11. They’d not even heard. Amazing to loose contact from all people & news for 3 months. I’d love that.

We were up there when the George Floyd riots were going on. When we got out, we couldn’t believe what was happening. Another time was in 1979 when John Wayne died. When I came home, there was a bunch of John Wayne movies going on and it took me a while to figure out that he passed away.

Great trip! Looked like a lot of fun even with the wind and rain. Was this in the Fall? Superior Gear hammock is still on my list.

Every time I go to MN, the weather changes quickly. I was just there in November for the Winter Camping Workshop and it changed literally every hour.

That happens. Gotta be tough to live here. And it helps to dress in layers.

An old saying in Minnesota is “ if you don’t like the weather. Just wait a minute. It will change”.

You paddle down from Canada. And I will paddle up for Minnesota. And we’ll meet at the border. That would be a great trip.

Coleman Island across from Warrior Hill? I've been going there since my dad first took me in 1988. These days I prefer the other site on the island, more sun and the sandy beach is great. I'm a little surprised none of you were wearing life jackets. Seems like an unnecessary risk. Anyway, looks like you enjoyed the site as much as I have. My best memory is watching the Northern Lights for hours with my dad at that site. My dad was so happy my brother and I enjoyed going there and he'd be happy knowing we still go.

Nice trip & thanks for the throw out of type hammock! Was your friend around the 16 min eating w/ a bamboo long spoon? I’ve thought of trying to skip that titanium taste of mine but mixed reviews.

That was a spoon that I carved out of a Cherry Tree branch that fell in my backyard. With my axe and knife. I will have to carve out a spoon for you and your husband.

Hi Marine, on your group hangs is there a general preference for drab colored hammocks, tarps, and quilts, or are bright colors ok too? The forums seem to say do what you like, but others have a strong preference for blending into nature. I have a cheap Amazon hammock currently, so I'm looking at getting new everything this year.

Bright colors make it easier to find your hammock. I personally like to be a little more stealthy. But either way is fine. Do what always works for you. Thank you Mrjasonwoodrow for watching. Much appreciated!
