Yunchan is a whole package. Never felt from any greatest musicians before. Apart from all the obvious qualities like stoicism, patience, grace, discipline, intellect, he is noble which makes perfect sense when he plays Beethoven. He also reveres… music, higher energy or whatever you call it. How he brings incredible joy to so many people…just so special.

He is a stoic, introverted, patient and dedicated man who sacrifices everything and devotes himself entirely to music. It is like an ascetic or a monk who pursues the truth. He is polite, gentle, pure and sincere, and opens his heart to us without any pretense or hiding. He is as innocent as a child. The music he loves so much is so pure that it moves people. He is a rare person in this world, and he touches the world with his very presence.

I would like to express how moved I was by the Rach 3 performance of Mr. Lim and Ms. M Alsop at the Van Cleburne Competition. The music they made together was out of this world, and hope for a greater humanity still exists through this performance. Let's imagine that a female conductor in her 60s, a Korean pianist in his teens, and a local orchestra in Texas presented the best music of this universe. This didn't happen before the 21st century. Regardless of all the problems of our time, man continues to strive towards a harmonious world. I am happy because I have lived and witnessed such positive events.

For me, Yunchan's absolute devotion to the music is just as moving as the music itself. In a recent interview for a Korean magazine, Yunchan said that his current lifestyle of performing, traveling and practicing is so demanding that he questions whether he can live a long life 😢. Let's always remember that he is still a human being, on a very personal mission to become one with the music, and that it is a privilege for us to be able to peek into his journey.

Amongst many many things, the way Yunchan improvises is truly genius - I heard this in person in London and Italy when he played the same set but there were so many differences that were inspired by the moment. I have an inclination to believe that his famous Siciliano interpretation had some improvisation in the left hand as well. He really knows how to bring music to life and touch the minds and souls of so many

Yunchan is outstanding, both as an artist and as a person. His technique, poetry, sensitivity and inventiveness are just amazing; it's quite unbelievable that he has all these gifts at a such young age. Furthermore he's a very humble and spiritual person. I think that the pianistic level that he has reached so young is also due to his personal and inner philosophical views. Our world shows daily such miseries, that we really need persons like him to make it better. I really enjoyed this video and comments from two pianists Greg and Roe who are also humble and warm heart to music. I have heard classical music for 30 years, I've never met this pianist, Yunchan Lim. His music is beyond the nature of human desire to express amazing music. Whenever I listen to his performances, I fall in love music more powerful though. Thank you.

Crying every time I hear it and I keep listening to it since I discovered it three days ago, a little late for me, but you guys were there and I can’t imagine what cloud you were in while being immersed in his music . . .

Fanfare Toccata is very challenging for every pianists…(how long did it take you to play it?) I spent uh…maybe…THREE DAYS. Lol 😂 Love love love his talent, honesty and shy personality. I wish I can see his performance live at a concert hall. So hard to get a ticket…

Not since Secretariat separated himself from the field by 31 lengths at the 1973 Belmont Stakes has a public performer separated themselves from the pack so dramatically as did Yunchan during this competition. Their performances are, each in their own way, exhilarating, exciting and once-in-a-lifetime spectacular. Bravo!

If Yunchan is the reincarnation of anyone it would have to Franz Liszt.

It seems like I watched a year long movie. A movie that started with the Van Cliburn competition last year and ended with the Goldberg Aria today, it was incredibly beautiful, touching nostalgic, and moving. I sincerely look forward to Yun-chan's future, and I am grateful to Greg and Liz for providing the best artistic empathy.
Incredible magic 🤯✨
