Great informative video. Tapping passenger side reverse light much easier. 2 points: 1) The 14 mm seat belt bolts can only be removed by impact wrench 2) The only way I could route the wire from camera to inside car is via the rubber grommet through which the license plate bulb wire is also routed 3) I agree that routing the wire & cable from the reverse light wire through the stiff hose is the most tedious task. Best way is to use a flexible PVC tube.

This video was very helpful in assisting me with installing a backup camera for my 2011 Toyota RAV4. Thank you for posting this video! I ended up using the passenger side reverse light instead of the drivers side reverse light since I didn't want to solder more wire to reach the other side.

I found that the wires on the bulb were just too short so I couldn't attach the camera wires to it. I'm going to give up. But this is the best video that i saw on this subject. Thank you

Thanks for the video, this came in super helpful, I watched it a couple of times and then I watched it with my wife so she could offer backup/emotional support, lol. Installed in a 2007 Rav4, a little older model, so I had to make a couple of adjustments on the fly, but was still 95% just like your video. Now time to install one in my 2005 Xterra! :)

Thank you. I just install my Reverse Camera for Rav4 2010 today, I watch clip a couple time before I install. First I drill the hole bigger for camera cable in. Second connect the cable to the Positive (black wire) of the reverse light. I connect to the licence plate side (more space to do) I took me a couple of hours....now.I learn more Thank you very much

Great video! Did you have to remove the spare tire cover to get an unobstructed view for your camera or does it just look like that?

Thanks for that, No, I didn't have to remove the spare tire or any other item. Another option is to place the camera right in the middle of the bumper but that will be a lot of work and with the camera over the license plate will still give you a very good view.

If you install on the license plate, would the display grids be in the center of the car?? Or would it be more towards the left as the registration plate 8s on the left?

Hi there, thanks for your question. There is not much difference if the camera is placed in the center of the vehicle. You could install it in the middle of the bumper but it will require more work. Just think like this, would it make any difference if the driver seat is in the center of the car? You still see the front right? The same happens with the camera on the license plate so don't worry about it.

@@MrMoises27 can you just attach a photo of the reverse camera position and picture of the reverse view in the specific position pls. I had one i stalled earlier which is 170° view. But the view doesn't show the bumper edge. But if you adjust it to see the bumper edge, it will show only show the ground not the cars coming from 3 metres away.. I wonder it could be the camera!!?

Hello, sorry to reply so late. I'm sure you finished your project already, but you know the green wire is the one to be grounded easily to a bolt on the back door. You can also drill a hole in the door for your ground wire.

Don't know why Toyota Engineers made it so difficult to remove the rear light clusters. Removing rear panels just to get to the cables for reverse is such a pain. They should have put the screws for the rear lamps on the exterior it would save a few hours stripping the interior that way. :)

I agree, I guess they make it difficult so they can charge for the job, just like changing the cabin air filter or engine filter, you can do it yourself. Thanks for watching.

I’m installing a wireless backup camera that attaches to the license plate that is on the left side of the bumper. My concern is how the view will be since it is not mounted in the center of the bumper. Did you have to adjust the camera to point more toward the center. Sorry I didn’t watch your entire video.

Hi there, I have also installed a wireless backup camera on a license plate but on my wife's CRV and works great, there will be not much difference if you place it on the side instead of the middle, the camera has wide angle view so you will be fine.try it without installing it and move it from the side to the middle and compare if you are missing too much of the rear view. I would have loved to see where the camera was actually mounted. I thought I heard you say you mounted at the location of license plate light. Question, does having the camera mounted on the driver side by license plate distort your perception of center when you back the vehicle into a parking space? Thank you

There is not much difference, I tried with some obstacles like trash cans and I could see them all. I saw another video where he installed the camera on the rear bumper to have it in the center but that requires too much work so for me it didn't make sense. Sorry for the late reply. It is not center, the licence plate is located on the left side of my car so the camera as well and it doesn't make much difference. I have seen other people placing the camera on the rear bumper to center the camera but it requires more work, so for me this option was better. Thanks for your commend.

Disculpa por la demora en contestar. El Radio ya no está a la venta, pero hay nuevos en Amazon al igual que la cámara. Te sugiero que compres la cámara con LED incorporada para que ilumine mejor al retroceder. Gracias por ver mis videos que te hayan ayudado.

The reason you had to modify the socket opening for the light bulb is because you have the wrong version. Your RAV has the "new style" but you installed an "old style" unit. www.amazon.com/Color-Reverse-Parking-Camera-Toyota/dp/B00GN90JGW

Hi Xavier, I ordered it long time ago at (Happyshoplife.com) it was shipped directly from China at a good price but they don't have it anymore. Now let me tell you that there are better ones with more memory and new features on Amazon so I will recommend to look around. Thanks for watching.
