EcoFlow offers some of the most advanced power stations available on the market! Smart app connectivity, large inverters, fast charging and various output options make these a great solution for either backup power or bringing power with you while camping! In this video I share my tests and thoughts on the EcoFlow Delta Max.
Disclaimer: EcoFlow sent this power station to my channel in exchange for my honest opinion about it's performance. Would you choose NCM or LiFePO4 and why? How did I do with my review?

Thank you for taking the time to make these videos! Any word on if you will test the Goal Zero Yeti series? I had the 1500 for years until it was stolen from a UHaul during a move... It was sad, understanding that it went with me all over the country w/ virtually unlimited phone and speaker charging. Now, I'm ready for an upgrade! Although it is certainly no generator like the Eco Flow, it took care of basic charging needs while on the road. I'd love to hear how the Goal Zero series compares. I need a mobile setup now as well as a home backup system... Both brands seem to be relatively popular selling through their site or REI; delving into all the other brands would be overwhelming without your help! Thanks again!

The goal zero products are very expensive and out of date nowadays. I hear they are releasing some new products soon.... It's been like 3 or 4 years since theyve anything new and products like Bluetti, Ecoflow, Anker and Jackery have passed them up big time... I'll see if I can get my hands on something if they seem worth the price.

sure this is a little on the expensive side, but otherwise a really nice unit. the fast charging is excellent. and efficiency of the ac inverter is great too. the 13+ hrs at max discharge from DC is a really long time! it could run that 12v fridge for many days. as far as not having bi-directional charging on this huge capacity unit, i dont think its needed. i think its only needed on smaller units. thank you again for your in depth reviews!

Then buy the pro or the new Delta 2. Battery technology is far from the only criteria for buying one of these, part of my reason for buying this over a LifePo4 alternative was form factor, this fits into my camper better, with sockets and inputs just where I need them, the Bluetti ac200max just wouldn’t fit where I needed it to and the sockets would be inconveniently placed.

Excellent review. You confirm my experience. I have about 6 wks of actual usage on my Delta Max with two Smart Batteries powering the AC galley and DC circuits in our 28’ Airstream thru an inside shore power inlet and automatic transfer switch. I charge by solar when boondocking and AC when we take a campsite with power. My only disappointment is that I cannot utilize the 400W inverter in my truck to charge, as the Delta Max requires pure sine wave input.
@BigBeef
@BigBeef 2 жыл бұрын
Jason, the reason it was not charging at the higher wattage is because the Delta max checks for voltage sag on the AC input source. If it detects possible lower amp capability coming from the breaker box, it will reduce max charging input to prevent overheating wires in wall, and popping a breaker. I tested this by trying outlet in kitchen, and obtained 1750 watts.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I only had that charging test running on a 20amp / 12awg circuit. I'll have to try one outlet right up next to the breaker and see if I get higher results. Thanks for the tip!

Great Video on the Delta Max.......Question though.......We are using ours only for power outages so it will be stored away for longer periods of time........can I store the Delta Max at 90-100% power or should I store it at a lower percentage.......I heard you are supposed to store for long periods of time at around 30-40%...which would be a bummer if the power goes out all of a sudden and we are not charged to the full capacity when it is most needed. Your thoughts?

Does the delta max have the 30 amp output like the Bluetooth ac200max? 200 max was your recommendation for us to run with a transfer panel for a little help on electricity. Only reason we bring this up is we saw the delta max on sell for about $1400. We thought this might be as good as the ac200max. Thanks for your videos and help
@Jasonoid

The Delta Max offers faster charging and a higher inverter at 2400 watts. The AC200max has a 2200 watt inverter. The AC300 has the full 30 amp ac output and can output 3000 watts. Any of these large power stations can be hooked up to a transfer switch.

Hello jason, another great video. I have an Eco flow Delta the original one the 1200 watt plus the River Pro and was thinking about upgrading to the eco-flow max. I only really use it in emergency situations which would probably be maybe once every 3 months so that's why I went with the original Delta. And I will be upgrading to the max. You're really cannot beat the eco-flow max when it comes to that gigantic converter 2400 watt inverter when it's only got the 2000 watt battery. Very few power stations are like that. Question for you, if I get one of these either the max or another Delta or even the Delta Mini, how often in your opinion should you top it off to 100%? In other words if it's sitting in the corner for 6 weeks and has been turned off the whole time would you recommend topping it off for 20 minutes or so every 6 weeks? Maybe every 3 months or 6 months? Any information would be greatly appreciated love your videos keep up the amazing work. Your fellow KZfaq friend, Jason

These don't seem to lose much power when they are completely turned off. I would maybe turn it on and plug it in every 2 to 3 months just to make sure all is well. Personally I'd recommend using it more often to get a little return on investment. Maybe run a computer off the inverter or maybe a TV when possible, then charge it back up with solar panels. That way you are familiar with where you can put the solar panel around your home to get the most power.

Since you are using a 2-wire measurement device for the DC capacity test, you should take into account the voltage drop over the wires. This way the DC output efficiency would be around 88%.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 жыл бұрын
I could also use larger wires on my test setup. When testing a 12v socket plug for voltage drop, the resistance alone in the socket drops the voltage around 0.5 volts, 12v socket plugs are horrible. I prefer 30 amp Anderson Powerpole connections. The wiring I am using is pretty realistic to a real world application so it should be similar to what others get on their discharge cycles.

This or Ac200P? Which is better? In 1- battery cycle 2- battery chemistry?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 жыл бұрын
AC200p will get many more (cycles 3500 to 80%) being that it has LiFePO4 batteries. The AC200p has less risk for a fire hazard as well having LiFePO4. I use my AC200p pretty frequently and I have been very happy with it. It cost's much less than the EcoFlow Delta Max. The EcoFlow Delta Max will put out 2400 watts on the inverter and has less parasitic drain (meaning you don't lose battery percentage as fast when running a small load). It also charges much faster if that's something you need. Summary: If you want to use this large power station everyday go with the AC200p. If you want to charge faster and have more power available go with the EcoFlow Delta Max. Check out this grading spread sheet and compare both of them side by side to see them stacked up against each other: jasonoid.com/powerstations/

If there is a true UPS mode on the power station, using it while plugged in doesn't count as lifecycles. However, since the Delta Max doesn't have a UPS mode, it uses the battery and charges the battery at the same time and counts towards battery's total lifecycles.

There are several serious flaws in EcoFlow app currently ... 1. it require cloud login to work ... e.g. If there is power outage (or EcoFlow servers have problem) then you may be stuck with incompatible configuration of power station. Depending on configuration it may significantly restrict usage or render it completely useless. There is no way to do factory reset without app on phone. 2. direct connection is not secured ... There is possibility to connect to power station directly (e.g. without cloud / internet). It is working only if you are already logged-in to app (problem 1). Connection between app and power station is using open WiFi with no protection at any level. Anyone with-in range of internal WiFi module can modify settings. This may disrupt operation and in worst case scenario cause fire ... I think it is really dumb approach to configure even basic stuff via app. There should be several additional buttons and menu on device itself with all settings available directly on device ... On top of ^^^ there are additional problems on device itself. Like it is not possible to disable WiFi connectivity and sometimes you can see someone else power station in your app. Power station is not working on WiFi with long password (24 characters), on WiFi with space (blank) in password, etc ... I hope that at least some problems will be fixed with that OTA firmware update ...

the air coming out being cool isn't necessarily a good thing. If the fans and heatsinks are doing their job, you should expect the air to feel hot from an exhaust. The only temperature that is of interest is from the internals.

The fans are moving TONS of air, and at 63db this thing is louder than other power stations I have tested at full RPM. I was very impressed by the cooling efficiency, not so much the noise though.

has anybody charged by Car Battery alternator? not the cig or power 12 v 8 amp- if anybody has any problems using car battery or extra added batteries to car?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
When you run off the starter battery or a second battery tied into your vehicle alternator system, you are basically charging your power station from the alternator. Your engine runs, keeps car battery full and at a steady voltage, power station plugs into the 12v socket and charges (or you make a custom wiring setup to the starter battery with a fuse and 8 or 6 awg). There are lots of options.

@@Jasonoid Thanks, I just finished another test charging echo pro max by using a 2000 watt inverter with 2- 12 volt -75 AH=150 AH tied into my starting bank with 4 awg wiring , found renogy monitor says voltage 12.6 and after 1 hour 12.2 voltage echo pro max charged 4 % at 800 watt setting. Inverter running cool not heated up like 1000 watt inverter.

Can this be charged by my car during driving?
@Jasonoid

Yes. This comes with a car charging cable that plugs into a 12v sockets and charges at around 100 watts with that cable.

@@Jasonoid Thank you! I kept seeing 'car charger' but I couldn't decide whether it would charge the battery or just a port so the battery could charge 12v stuff. Thanks again! Love your video!

Darn why does this unit have such small DC output? Only one 12 volt 10 amp plug. Given the size of the unit you would think it would have dual 12 volt DC outputs or higher amperage. Competitors products that are cheaper have higher amperage. I guess it's not for RV van DC optimization loading.

It seems the cost of these items have dropped exponentially over the last few years. My intentions are to take a car alternator and hook a DC power motor directly to it and run it through a inverter to charge my power station. I guess my question is, or my intentions are, to run the 12 V motor that is powering my alternator to charge my power station. Also having the solar panels hooked up at the same time. I don’t intend on running the alternator off the cars engine. Seems like a way to eliminate my electric company. Maybe having up to three power stations would be proficient.

There is no need whatsoever to have bi-directional usbC on larger power stations. You would be charging it forever!!

Yeah... I'm probably going to swap out that grading point for something else on the larger power stations. Probably UPS mode...

I just cant see spending that much coin on anything but lifepo4. Not just cycles and safety, but calender aging of the cells. NMC cells age much quicker than LFP , something like 3x faster.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 жыл бұрын
I agree, I made sure to explain that in the video. I didn't want to mislead anyone since lifepo4 is definitely preferred with these power stations. At the end I broke down the cost per lifecycle and there's a pretty big difference!

@@Jasonoid I had to explain the aging paradox to commenter on another channel. He was a fanboy for jackery. He thought if he only used his Jackery 1000 ten times a year it would last 50 years since its good for 500 cycles.

So you saying it should plug in my 3600watt 240 volts 50 amp kitchen oven stove or my 4800 watt 220 volt 30 amp water heater. Yes I know I can run my kitchen refrigerator for about 1 hour my kitchen refrigerator is a 2000 watt antique refrigerator occur in my microwave for about an hour-and-a-half if I'm using it slightly longer if I'm using air fryers. It can run my lights in the house my TV's computers charge my phone's make game systems all night long but nothing major that needs to run without run it out of very quickly the batteries something's would last a little bit longer I can use it for running all the lights in my house all my none a Central things in my house that is not important. It will run one of my split air conditioner heater for about 3 hours of course that would be the only one that can run that's the only one that's 115 votes 850 watts all my other split air conditioner heaters are 213 to 230 volts. Don't get me wrong I I do want couple of those generates and it's batteries as well as the three or four Delta pro and it's batteries But they might be used for something else then running my house since the power really kind of come short even with the power going out those who died just a few hours after they start running to backup power so I'd have a different use for those generators.

I will never buy anything again from ecoflow. During black friday I made the mistake of trusting what I read on their website. The ad read "ecoflow deltamax 2000 + 220w solar panel, black friday 2022 $2199." I clicked on buy and purchased it. A few days later I received the unit without a solar panel. I immediately called their 1800 number and informed them I had not received the solar panel. The man on the phone told me I had not ordered the solar panel. Wait...what? The ad said " deltamax 2000 +220w solar panel black friday 2022, $2199." Be very very careful buying anything from this company.
