I'd love more videos where you compare good vs bad examples of a particular trait and how you weight them in the decision to cull. For example, when you say good white, what's an example of bad white. I'd love to see how these fish turned out! I know it's lobster time, but maybe you can make a second koi channel.

@zyto Tem: you do relize these are DOMESTIC ICTHYS, right? They wont survive in the wild, they are not wild animals! They are like pet dogs and kitty cats. You CAN ACTUALLY pet them too. @zytotempol8154 2 жыл бұрын
@@ParttimePilgrim That is all your opinion, and all you're doing is supporting cruelty. I don't care what you say, they are fishes that belong in the wild not with people. You know why they're domesticated? Because they're been forced away from their home taken an be bred and use for money, gain, greed and want to play God. And there is things and natural abilities are snatched away but it doesn't mean that the animals are dumb an all is gone. Just because they were domesticated by people, doesn't mean that it's okay to do those things to animals like that. They're not like dogs and cats because cats are also been forced. You can take the animal out of the wild but you can't take the wild out of an animal.. get it straight. And everything they're doing is cruel. Thousands is not even true. You're just spreading cruelty, hate and lies.

I believe he is saying 'Hi plate'. 'Hi' (pronounced Hee) refers to the red coloration in Koi. I may be wrong but I did a lot of googling to figure it out myself and realized I was looking into Japanese hobbies using English words and came to this conclusion after adjusting what my ears were hearing. I think the 'plate' part refers to solid spots of color.

It must have hundreds of koi and they’re all beautiful. It’s my favorite thing to do when I need a relaxing time - buy an enormous bag of fish food (they sell it at the entrance for this purpose) and just feed those koi for a couple hours.

I was devastated, took a lot time , effort and money and get it set up and raise them and nearly all were lost 😭 At that point thought fuck it and put everything that was left back in the big pond to take its chances and still ended with a few beauties…one of them blue and white and is now a big ‘ol girl (no idea what that colour combo is called) and a couple of good sanke . Really did enjoy the initial stages of hatching and rearing them though.

I adore the very busy patterned sankes, so it was very sad to see so many of them get removed. I had my eyes on a few that instantly got 'thrown out'. But I understand as a breeder and seller, and the person handling the fish, that you have much better of an eye for these sorts of things than I do. I do hope to get my hands on a few in the future. But I have a question, would Koi do well in a fish tank? I do not have the space for a pond where I live, but I do have plenty of room for a large tank is why I'm asking.

@Bradybrandwood
@Bradybrandwood 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is something I meant to mention in the video but didn’t get around to. I feel the gill curls are caused by poor water quality, basically low oxygen, high bacteria content or fungus when the koi are very tiny. Another issue of operating in a very small space, but could be avoided with more frequent water changes, cleaner water higher oxygen, etc.
