Metal detecting with the grandkids in our new backyard in Tennessee. A fun day with the Minelab Manticore metal detector and some great assistants!

And the Grandkids are adorable. I tried introducing my 5 yr old Granddaughter. Before I go my gear on she found a quarter and a dime. Then tabs. She quit, said she didn’t want to pick trash all day. Oh young, grasshopper. 😂

Cool place, Tennessee is nice, I'm about 10 miles from Tennessee in Kentucky how cool. If y'all come to the coal mining country of Kentucky let me know, you guys will be welcome to dig in my digging spot.. The last area of the Cherokee Indians before going west..

Safe travels guys, hope someones looking after buddy!! ;-) 'And I would walk 500 miles and I would 500 more just to be the man who falls down at your door ...' Fantastic 90's song by the Scottish band The Proclaimers ... :-) OMG, been awhile since my (many) nephews and nieces were that young, the Grandkids are cute - telling you off! ;-)

Welcome to digging in Tennessee. Look close at that flattened bullet, it was hard for me to tell in the video but it could possibly be a Civil War Bullet. That is from looking at the base of it but it could also be a shot gun slug. Just look closer at it if you still have it. It is always fun to detect. Thanks for sharing.

The kids are pretty cute. They'd wear me out in a heartbeat. You're both very good with them. A few interesting finds there. I'm not sure there'd be gold in them thar hills though. hehehehehe. The property looks great Bill. Wild strawberries? So cool. I hope your son and his family will be very happy there. Did Buddy come with you or is he with a baby sitter? Wow! I don't know which of those two little people is cuter but the comments about how water used to run there and maybe it fell off a boat when the river ran through there !!! What a bright button. REALLY enjoy this post and can't wait to meet their parents. You drove 2000 miles and couldn't throw us fans a crumb of what you saw and did? Oh, you're still editing a video of the trip?😂

I REMEMBER THE HUMITY BACK THERE ITS HORRIBLE. WE WOULD GO BACK TO ILL. EVERY YEAR TO MY IN-LAWS LOVED IT WHEN WE GOT BACK TO THE ARIZONA HUMITY NICE AND DRY, LOL.BACK THERE YOU COULDN’T STAY DRY. HOPE YOU ARE HAVING FUN.

Bill, welcome to Diggin in the Midwest. Lots of junk, and bullet casings. But once in a while good stuff shows up. Try digging a little closer to the house. Imagine where people may have gathered in the past, and hunt there. Good luck!

Nokta makes some really nice kids' detectors for not alot of money. I bought two of them for my grands but my granddaughter has outgrown hers and took over my Vanquish 440.

Welcome to the ground diggin a la carte smorgasbord, lol. What a different hunt for y’all. Had to get you the Tennessee twang there 🤣. Now that looks like what I’m used to diggin. Our old farm up here in Ohio has that and more. I dig it all even though I get tired of the wire fence pieces and nails (even though they are the old hand made square ones) never know when a part of history will show up. I got really excited when I found a horse shoe, a D buckle, pieces to cast iron pots and even a very old ring with a blue stone in it, along with other great remnants of an old 1870’s house. Can’t wait to see what other great things you find in the dirt. Have fun a safe travels.

Nice... yeah, I cleared out a lot from the back yard. It was fun and the hope was there...lol. I could not have done it without that awesome shovel... I wish I could use it in our parks.... that would be great. I met a guy that has lived there his whole life and he is in his 50s if I had to guess. He says he can get me onto some properties when I go back so that will be awesome.

@DigginSoCal yep they work great. I use mine all the time. Plus, it supports your detector, so it is not bending the coil and not laying on the ground. Good luck.

Wow So close but yet so far. Virginia Beach is a good place to detect. Oh and Christine my wife got a few weeks ago and I watching and you started singing This is The William show now she comes when I'm watching other metal detectors videos and say no no I like the William Show better she likes the way you pick at him.

Hi. Happy to see you both again. I was born in Tennessee, we moved to Arizona when I was 2. I would love to go back just to see 😢 I now live in Maine. After my husband and grandson passed away in October 21, to be closer to my family. Thank you both for sharing your finds.

That was fun to watch. The finds, while not spectacular, tell part of the tale of rural life in the heart of America. Maybe next time you'll find a lost Confederate treasure.

Thanks... yes, we had a great time and hated to leave but it was so nice to spend time with the Gkids..... You just never know how a hunt will turn out. I am blessed that I was able to help my son and his family out because it is so hard to buy a house and they could not have done it by themselves for quite a while. The best part is knowing the kids get to experience some rural living in a good community!!!

When you are detecting house sites, especially ones with a large yard lime this, you should really target certain areas like around the house or clothesline.

Our cuddle bugs have been here for a little over a week. My early mornings are on the couch with a cuddle bug on each side watching a variety of princess and cute kitty cat type vids. Kind of miss the digging but not really. They leave today 😢. Guess I’ll go back to detecting soon and find just regular treasures

Not at the moment. I bought the house but am letting my son and his family live there. However, I really liked it but need to be there during different seasons. You never know, maybe in the future

Nah... maybe in the future. I bought the house and am letting my son and his family live there with the hopes they can own it in the future. I guess I may have to buy a second house to be closer to them if I decide to bail from the golden state.
