30 is about 9 meters and big verts are already up to 5 meters tall plus about 3 meters maximal airs. It is a realistic guess.

We can’t skate in public because it damages property, sometimes we can’t skate at park because they are too crowded or closed, so when someone finally has the money to put up something on his own property people still have a fucking problem?

Sunny the only skatepark anywhere close to me is literally a half hour drive away from me, depends on the place you live, and even then you can't get shit like this in a skate park, this is a dream for a lot of skaters, and above that is the question if he actually owns his own property. If you want to go ahead and say he can't build that on his property, fine, then you can't do what you want to do on your property either, you want to add plants to your garden? Well hold on, I have an allergy to that plant, that may make me sick, please remove it, I'm going to the board to get that removed. Oh, you want a water feature, well that's an eyesore, no thanks! You see what I'm getting at? If you want to start removing people's ability to do what they want with their property, then you set the precedent that they don't own their property and you can be affected as well, also you make them more unhappy, and in general, you just become a dick. Also, the reason skateparks should be everywhere, and we should pay our tax dollars on it is to prevent damage to spots where we would otherwise be doing it, there are less important things we should stop funding in order to fund what we are doing, however that is more political than I think we are willing to get into. Also, Linux, you can't buy an acre of land in the area this dude is in, and even then it costs money to get an acre of land. Plus he's an x-games medalist, he at least has the credentials to fucking be doing this, once again, in his OWN backyard, the one he OWNS. Also, he probably didn't buy that house specifically to skate in, but thats not the point im trying to make, because that part doesn't matter.

I think it would be cool. I would MUCH rather have a half-pipe in the yard next to me, than constantly barking dogs, fighting neighbors, a meth lab, pit bulls, hoarders, a crack house, the list is endless. Plus the guys using it are pros.

Agree with you except for the meth lab. Operating a meth lab shows me that my neighbors are capable of managing a lucrative side business. Plus you get some pretty cool aromas from the meth labs. Just imagine summer time bbq smell mixed with chemical smells from the meth lab. #summersmells

obviously the owners themselves knew it could create problems "we asked everyone to tell us..." etc. ,,,I think you do need to respect other people's need for peace and quiet in their backyard. The owners just wanted to hear 'yeah it's ok"" and when one person said it was not ok, well, you see what I am saying.

If there's one thing I've learned while living in the suburbs, it's going to be loud, there are going to be parties, and you'll learn to hate many of your neighbors. But if you want piece and quiet. MOVE FURTHER AWAY. A lot less neighbors, and a lot further from the city, means its not only a lot quieter, it's a lot safer.

That ramp is absolutely beautiful, and it's in his yard, it's literally one of his tools to sharpen his skill for his job. Some people like muscle cars that are allowed others like to skate. You should be proud to have a neighbor with such a defined skill.

You know, another thing most people who don't skate/blade/ride bmx won't understand about this is: that's a VERT ramp (meaning the top part of the quarter pipes on each side go vertical from the transition up to the coping at the top). Most municipal skate parks don't have vert ramps and not every private, indoor skatepark has those either. Vert skating/riding is a very specific discipline that you can't easily practice just any and every ol' place where you can skate/ride. And if this guy is a professional athlete FOR VERT SKATING, then this is more akin to a professional musician having a recording studio in his house rather than "I just want to skate, man! Lemme build a ramp..." The neighbor is lame, especially if the skater's nextdoor neighbors are all cool with it. He needs to get over it.

Wr built a half pipeline in my buddy's backyard when we were kids, neithbor called the cops numerous times and finally bulding inspector showed up 2 months later and nailed us for not having a permit.......I'm jist glad they never asked how a bunch of 13 year olds got their hands on that much lumber, coping, and parking blocks.

Having a backyard skate ramp always have been a dream. Even if my neighbours are really nice, it would sometimes be too noisy. The thing I did with my friend at the start of corona during lockdown was so cool. We found a non used property and asked the property owner if we could build a little skatepark there with a half-pipe, rail and ledge. He said yes and we hanged there all summer. To this day, the spot is bigger and it turned into a diy spot. The close houses are really happy to have us behind having fun than barking dogs.

As long as it's approved by the city and they don't have any crazy events on the half pipe, I couldn't care less. Although, if I were the owner, I would've found a better property to build the ramp.....not in a backyard in the suburbs....
