This week I take you along for some backyard chores, cleaning, and maintenance. If you also have some outdoor backyard to-do's I hope this provides a little motivation to get out there and take care of some of the items on your checklist to get the most out of your outdoor space! I also share some fb marketplace and estate sale finds I haven't shared yet. I hope its a fun one, thank you for watching!

@@MelbaMakes Couple of mornings ago here in Gaylord, MI, we had a dusting of snow. However, at this moment, it's 47 and bright and sunny. My tulips are about 8 inches high. Currently, being a Sunday couch potato watching a little golf. :)

You're such a hard worker! I can't believe the difference weeding made in your yard. You have so much property. Everything looks beautiful. OMG, the wrought iron cart is adorable! I can't believe it's the same design. Love the striped pillow, too. I don't know about native California plants. We put big pots of tri-colored ginger on our deck. They look so good, and the squirrels don't dig up and eat the roots like they did on the geraniums. I enjoy seeing what you do on your terrace and back yard! Take care, Linda 🦋

Thank you Linda! I’m excited about the bar cart and to use the new striped pillows I found at the outlet that I shared with you all over the winter! I remember you mentioned the tri-colored ginger before, I do like the look of them! The squirrels here love to pick and eat our figs, you remind me that we should also consider some squirrel-proof plants! I hope it’s getting warm outside on your end and that you can enjoy some time outdoors Linda! 🌷😅

Wow, what a transformation. I think a outdoor rug at one of the seating areas would be a nice addition. I think Suki would like it too.

Calscape is the best resource for our native plants. Perennials will absolutely change your garden. You have a ton of space, both sun and shade as well. Lots of options. Firewise plantings may be good for your homeowners policy. Or peace of mind.

Yes, I cannot wait until part 2! So, last year I bought a wrought iron set (couch, two chairs and a side table). I was stoked but i had to learn how to sand it and paint it. That took all summer, (working woman). I agree what you said in your first patio video. Thrifted cushions are hard to find. I looked for 3-5 months and finally bought new ones but at a discount store. So, last year I did not get to enjoy it. This year..I started planting flowers in pots. I found on online thrift store wrought iron planters!!!! Score! So, I get how you feel about the wrought iron bar cart or plant stand. I like your ideas and set up. I read a book on gardening for beginners. Only you can choose the colors you like but as the author said you want it to look pleasing to your eye. Pink makes me happy. So, I mixed pink, black and white petunias. LOVE IT. I bought some white daises. I smile when I come home. I just now need to break out the chairs and cushions. So much work!

Oh my word, Melba! Your industriousness and staying on task are qualities you need to have acknowledged! My oldest daughter is very much that way, too. My youngest daughter brought a kitten with a lot of catitude with her when she moved back to Ohio from Brooklyn. She is two and loves catching snakes when out in the back garden with me!

Snakes are helpful in the garden for dealing with non-beneficial insects and some detrimental critters.

Melba, I just love your videos! You have a great back yard to work with and the stone flooring is worth its weight in gold. You know what needs to be done and have a vision of what can be accomplished. Suki is such an amazing companion at your side. I watched your most recent video and am now going through your older ones. You were obviously born with the gardening bug. Isn’t it so rewarding. I think you’re very young to have gained the excitement you have for beautifying your home. Wishing you all the best.

What is the cleaner? I have white cushions also, an I am always struto get them clean.

Spray the lemon plant with a fungicide.

I would try soaking the lemons in water and vinegar

Thank you that is a great idea! I am able to remove it with water but I think vinegar will take that off so much more easily, I will give it a try - thank you for the tip! ❤
