This awesome swim pond was a super big pond that is crystal clear! With a constructed wetland filter this system has a upflow through the gravel and plants giving it crystal clear water. Woah!!! VeRy NICE!!! How deep , at deepest depth??? Also what are dimensions?? I built a 20x40 14ft deep with spring divingboard, slide,heated, etc,.. about five yr ago, but now i'm considering remodel with more natural looking stone instead of concrete all bland & plain. I wouldn't have to pay too much as for the rock,.. its plentiful on my 400acre ranch. Although the other materials can be difficult to acquire. I had to special order vermiculite when building first one.. Could it be easier to pour concrete and color & shape it like the real thing???🤔 Anyway enjoyed the video,.. Thx for sharing it 😎👍👍..

Absolutely beautiful, do you keep the pump for the falls running continuously if not how l9ng does it run and is it enough to stop mosquito larvae or do you use something like mosquito dunks . I'm in the middle of doing one but don't have the option of running pump all the time it's off grid on solar .Any information would be greatly appreciated Thanks Dale

You have to keep the wetland running 24/7 that’s the life support that keeps it clear. Might need more batteries. Hard to keep it not turning green with no water running

keeping the water moving deters mozzies, if you dont want full pump running, an aerostone pumping in air can help for less energy (small battery pack attached to solar panel should do). but would recommend continual pump.

Fantastic job! I live in DFW and have been thinking about creating some kind of pond but I keep worrying about it attracting snakes. Is that not as much of a concern as I am assuming?

It is a natural ecosystem it attracts all life. But 18 years of doing this I have seen very few snakes. Even ones deep in the woods clients have seen very few

You can wall/fence off if you want around outside, there are natural deterrents if you dont like that route. Ideally you get a snake eating bird roosting nearby, such as a heron.

Why do you do an upflow as opposed to a downflow with the under gravel filtration system?

We have a down flow intake and wetland filter so technically doing both

Are the rocks not a problem source later on, as they provide nutrienst to the water. Or how do you handle that?

The wetland takes care of a lot of the water quality it’s more about keeping debris from building up and rotting out

What pump and filter system are you using on your pond

Tool Man Taylor we are using 2 variable speed 1 1/2 horse power pool pumps, the filtration is all constructed wetlands that up flow thru them keeping it crystal clear as well as a large gravel intake bay that draws water. We also have 2 skimmers on their that water feeds a second waterfall and underwater jets. Pond stays amazing clean and clear!

terri wagner this one is right in the middle of the woods and there has been no sightings of snakes. It’s a fresh body or water which attracts all life comes with the beauty of these ponds.

Doesn't have to cost a fortune, digging a hole and building retaining walls then lining it properly isn't too expensive but labour and additional features like fancy stone rockery waterfalls and so on can mount up the price. Best to go simple, design less complicated and get fantastic results for a much smaller budget

U can build an identical pond with friends or something, u will have to buy tarp and some pumps and some rocks and gravel. And if u have a truck or pickup go to a river or a rocky place and get a load of them a few times.
