4. Bad Boys (1995) 3. Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024) 2. Bad Boys II (2003) 1. Bad Boys for Life (2020) I saw Bad Boys 4 yesterday afternoon and it was okay. I wasn’t looking forward to it that much. The tone of the movie is a little bit funnier than the previous one but it didn’t make me chuckle. I think they made Marcus a little too goofy. The first Bad Boys was a movie from my 8th grade year. I remember it came out in April of 1995. This was Will Smith and Martin Lawrence teaming up at their peak of their powers as both had two of the funniest sitcoms during the 90s. This was a year before Will Smith would start becoming summer box office gold with Independence Day (1996). Then another hit with Men in Black (1997). My male classmates talked about it back in 1995 as we still had another two months to go for our 8th grade graduation. I went to a Catholic school in Glendale, CA. I remember the soundtrack. TBH, I didn’t think the first Bad Boys was that good even when I first saw it back in April 1995. The tone was a little over the place. I thought Rush Hour 2 (2001) achieved the comedy that Bad Boys tried to convey. I thought Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) was a lot funnier too. You should check out stills from the original Bad Boys in 1995. Man, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence were so skinny back then! Will was still in his mid-20s when he filmed it and didn’t start getting buff until the next decade like after he did Ali (2001). Around when he did I Am Legend (2007). While Martin Lawrence obviously got the weight gain like he’s Allen Iverson. He looks chubbier now than when Chris Tucker was in Rush Hour 3 (2007). And Chris Tucker was a twig in Friday (1995). I’m listing Bad Boys II at No. 2 but I actually don’t recall seeing the entire thing. I think I first saw it only 4-5 years ago with my brother when it was on Netflix. I saw most of it and I found it a lot funnier than the OG. That’s the tone I prefer because Martin Lawrence being a stand-up comic is naturally funnier than Will Smith. Gabrielle Union was such a babe in it. Bad Boys for Life still takes the cake as the best of the franchise. There was an emotional twist to it that I liked. It’s a shame it came out in early 2020 basically a month before the pandemic global shutdown. Similar to The Invisible Man which I thoroughly enjoyed, many of the 2020 movie releases became an afterthought. Sean talks about a scene in the middle of Bad Boys 4 that I also found rather cool. It didn’t wow me but it was cool. I only started watching Heels late last year around Nov, so it was cool to see “Ace” in it while he’s hooking up with Vanessa Hudgens’ character. I wasn’t aware Ludwig was in the prior Bad Boys movie since I didn’t know him until I started watching Heels. I would still put Bad Boys: Ride or Die for a top 5 spot among best summer movies of 2024. But I’m not going to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty solid. No LOL moments for me. The action set pieces could’ve a little more epic. It felt like this movie is the direct to Netflix type but I guess that ended up being Beverly Hills Cop 4. 7/10 Hey Sean, glad to hear you’re rewatching all of Game of Thrones. Prep for House of the Dragon S2. Theaters are dying. As you said, too many options we have now. We got The Acolyte, The Boys S4, and HOT D S2 filling up our time this month and next month. There’s only two movies I have the urge to see this month: The Bikeriders and Horizon. The latter looks kinda boring but anytime Kevin Costner is in the Old West, I’ll watch it. I still dug Dances with Wolves. And I did see the first season of Yellowstone. It was out of a whim that I decided to watch it. It’s summer and I actually don’t mind watching Westerns or movies set in the Old West. I think back when I saw Maverick (1994) close to the summer. Maybe around June of 1994 a few weeks after it’s May 20 release. I saw Back to the Future Part III during the summer. Same with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where a lot of the final scenes were in a desert. Don’t get me started with Wild, Wild West (1998). 😂 I don’t mind watching baseball movies like The Sandlot (1993) and Westerns during the hot summers. I think back when I visited Lake Tahoe in the early 90s and went to the Ponderosa Ranch where they shot Bonanza in. It’s no longer there but going horseback riding takes me back to those summer movies. So Horizon: An American Saga is circled for me as one to watch in the theater this month. Maybe Kevin Costner still got it in him to make another classic cowboy movie. Four chapters released within two years and a total budget of $400M. I have to check it out. Chapter 1: June 28, 2024 Chapter 2: August 16, 2024 But if Horizon’s Chapter 1 does suck, it could be Rebel Moon all over again. Great to see Abbey Lee get a break. She was one of the Five Wives from Fury Road.

I’m kind of surprised how excited I am for this movie. Rewatching the first two Bay Boys films last week, they hold up as solid, enjoyable buddy cop action films from Michael Bay. But rewatching Bad Boys for Life last night I was reminded of the third film being better than the other two. Like, a lot better. Hoping for another solid addition to this franchise when I go see it tonight!

I mean with Martins character it felt like it went back to form of the first film or two films…where the crises he’s having the 3rd movie made him seem scared but the original he was more annoyed that they were getting into gun fights etc, instead of fearing it….this seemed like it was back to form with the direction they went with his character in this

@SeanChandlerTalksAbout I may have to rewatch the first two Bad Boys flicks tomorrow and watch bad boys for life aka bad boys 3 tomorrow as well as I just purchased bad boys for life and I remember the 3rd being my favorite in the franchise as well. I don’t remember much about it other than the emotional stakes being much higher and all to the point that I remember when Mike Lowry finds out on that tv footage that the police captain was killed and he goes off on almost a revenge style deal wanting to straight up kill these assassins, I could be wrong and thinking of a different installment or remembering the details a little vaguely here, all I remember is the police captain that Mike and Marcus work under Captain Howard dying and it absolutely shocked me in the theaters and at the same time I thought to myself “you assassins are in deep trouble now.” Anyways, I’ll have to rewatch the trilogy because me and my buddy David and my parents are going to see this on Saturday and I can’t wait

IMO this is miles better than its predecessor. This one felt more like prime Bay Bad Boys movies. To not go into too much details, my ranking is: Bad Boys 2 Bad Boys Bad Boys Ride or Die Bad Boys For Life With original and 4th being very close; but 3rd one being way more behind the 4th

Part 2 is my favorite from both Bad Boys and Rush Hour but nothing beats Lethal Weapon in the buddy cop genre.
@messii648
@messii648 23 күн бұрын
I can see why and yet it’s the most underrated but I think it started the buddy cop duo! The tone in lethal weapon has everything the dark immersive story that gets us hooked and yet still has tones of comedy, side characters in each movie is gold it’s like they matter just as much , the villains and especially jet li as a villain was a masterpiece move, their chemistry they are so different but has each others back no matter what! I hope they don’t make lethal weapon I heard Mel was working on a script but in my view leave it in the 90s LW 4 the perfect ending family together. Ok now about bad boys it has best action and with rush hour best comedy if I’m gonna compare just this two

Not gonna lie, I had a wicked time with this movie. While it's not as insane, action-wise, as "Bad Boys II" (due to a smaller budget), I think it's definitely up there with how inventive the action scenes are with drone shots, sequence transitions, first person, and gun-tossing. The story is hella stupid (as with the other movies), but for whatever reason, I actually found myself more engaged/invested in the Mike/Marcus dynamic this time around. I think this movie did a better job acknowledging the guys getting older and dealing with new issues that come with age and experience, than they did with the previous movie (which I liked, btw). At least there's more of a throughline here, whereas in the previous movie, it kinda just dovetails without any solid resolution other than the fact that they have to go fight the bad guy. At least by the time THIS movie's climax hits, both Mike & Marcus' internal arcs come to a head and are dealt with. Are they dealt with in a satisfying manner? That's up to personal preference lol, but I personally thought they came to a head just fine in terms of what these movies are. I do feel some of Martin's comedy didn't 100% land, but I actually appreciate that he was in on the action A LOT more with this entry, rather than just playing second fiddle and letting Will have all the fun. It felt like a true co-lead operation with Martin & Will sharing the load of carrying the movie, whereas with Part 1 it feels like it's Martin's movie with Will tagging along, and with Part 3 it's Will's movie with Martin tagging along. While I do wish the supporting cast got fleshed out more, I actually did appreciate that they all had a moment to shine. Maybe it's asking too much for people to remember the "lore" of "Bad Boys", but I did like the numerous callbacks to story and motif elements of the previous 3 movies. Is it a "good" movie? No. Fuck, if i'm being real, NONE of these movies are. But all of them are super fun and entertaining at the most basic level, and that's what I've always wanted out of these. Maybe I'm not demanding enough, but this was honestly a great time at the theatres for me. The chemistry between Martin & Will is as great and endearing as ever. Some people might complain that it's a bit too stylized, but honestly, that's another thing that made me like it so much. Shout out to the directors Adil & Billal. They really stepped up the action, and got real inventive with it. If they're in the running for the next Spidey movie in the MCU, I definitely would like to see how they handle action sequences with that character, because they really got to push some boundaries and have fun with "Bad Boys: Ride or Die." Oh yes, and Reggie is indeed the Real MVP. Amazing how far that character has come lol. If I were to rank the movies, favorite to "least favorite" (I love all these movies), I go: 1.) Bad Boys Ride or Die. 2.) Bad Boys II. 3.) Bad Boys For Life. 4.) Bad Boys.

It’s my least favorite of the franchise but it’s still a blast and it features I think Martin’s best outing as Marcus. Little nitpicking things but questioned why Theresa Randle wasn’t back as Theresa (no offense to Tasha Smith), James & Quincy at this point don’t exist anymore 😂, Charles Melton out looses an edge he brought by busting Will’s balls the entire runtime. But their chemistry is still great, Adil & Bilall have a better grasp of the action due to their time on “Mrs Marvel” and “Batgirl” and the way they brought Captain Howard back was very poetic and very beautifully done. The final shootout is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. 4/5 for me

I have to say this though the captains grand daughter really stole the movie for me she is my new favorite character and wills son really stole this and 3 I liked him immediately and Reggie always is the goat he is the Michael Jordan of the movie and the moment that happens in this movie I can’t speak on it’s like I have always liked that character

Do you define a "Good reviewer" as someone who already holds your opinions? Because I'm not sure I see the value in having someone just repeat my opinions back to my in a different voice.

I miss Michael Bay. His style is perfect for Bad Boys.
@nms7872

Yes his style fits and it literally started there as his first movie. Unfortunately he has such an immature sense with the dialogue that resorts to the worst lowest common denominator humour. But his action is incredible and the apparent BAYHEM is very entertaining. A mix of good and bad

Could not disagree more about the second film. But I guess Marcus’ family in danger doesn’t mean anything to you. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t think I said anything interesting enough for us to be that polarized. Did you think the story was amazing but the action was dull? Because i imagine we agree on a lot about the film. We just disagree on how memorable the story was.

My biggest problem with this movie and my only problem is the opening till Martin wakes up in the hospital I wasn’t enjoying the movie till Martin nearly died and the super close up on his tongue was nasty and gross and the dam fish bowl looking scene in the liquor store when he is looking at the hot dogs this has the best ending to movie I have seen in the past several years it’s a dam good movie but it’s not perfect that is why I can’t give it movie of the year

10:40 into your review and you haven't even explained the plot, what it's about Sean! That's poor bro. Introduce the story/plot then give your views, which were great by the way and detailed as always, but I wanted to know the general story. Cheersv

Great movie nowhere close to being the best movie of this year but It was definitely the best of the series it was a part 2 to 3 like 3 had a drop off ending and the post credits scene had a direct scene from this movie that was filmed for that post credits scene this is the perfect trilogy I say end the series with this
