Every time I hear the Kravitz cover of American Woman on the radio, I swear the speakers in my car are busted or something because the audio quality at the end of the song is oddly crunchy.

I think Limp Bizkit’s version of Behind Blue Eyes is pretty shocking. I’d like to mention It’s My Life by No Doubt. It’s not terrible but it annoys the hell out of me the fact that a lot of people don’t realise it’s a Talk Talk cover. And Talk Talk’s is so much better! Btw RIP Karl Wallinger 😢

Getting PTSD from seeing Transformers 2 in theaters. Worst movie ever. I was with a big group, so I couldn't walk out unfortunately. Shocked at the division I've seen for the Smooth Criminal cover in recent years. It slaps and I'd rather listen to it tbh. Pick any song from the Danzig Elvis covers album. It is unreal how atrocious that project is.

There's actually a bunch of metal covers of Losing My Religion. On the surface it may seem weird for metal bands to cover REM but it makes sense to me because I can see their lyrics resonating with metal people. If they covered Shiny Happy People that would be weird though.

Phil Collins' cover of "The Times They Are A-Changing" is pretty head scratching to me. I can't for the life of me figure out what possessed him to do that. This coming from someone who thinks the rest of that album is pretty good.

Neil Young’s version of “Mr. Soul” from his Trans album. While he did write it, it was originally recorded with Buffalo Springfield and his solo version is almost unrecognizable compared to the original. Very bad use of vocoder and synths. I bought Trans used on vinyl in the early 90s for like $2 and played this song once. Took the album off the turntable and never played it again.

Jason, an absolute TITAN of horrible Beatles covers, in my opinion, is a band called Underground Sunshine doing "Birthday". It was actually a minor hit single in 1969 and it is so stiff and corny. It almost sounds like a joke. Check it out next time you're in the mood to hate.

Jason has great musical tastes and a knack for noticing what makes music good in a lot of cases, especially when it comes to lyrics, most of the time. And, that really shows when he makes a baffling call, such as his love for Last Kiss… How he can hate Don’t Stop (Fleetwood Mac) but love Last Kiss is just baffling and insane to me, because I think Last Kiss is infinitely cheesier and lamer than Don’t Stop could ever be! 😅

Usually, I find myself agreeing with Joe more, but this time, I found myself firmly in the Jason camp. Which is nice, for a change. I completely agree with Jason that Pearl Jam's take on "Last Kiss" is a good cover. It was overplayed at the time, but a good song is a good song. Joe, on the other hand, deserves a bit of a bum-slap for not understanding that ANY One Direction song, cover or not, immediately gets an S-rating. What else? I also like David Bowie's version of "God Only Knows". Instrumentally, it's nothing special, but Bowie's voice was arguably at its peak during the mid-80s, and he just sounds so goddamn good on it. Oh, and I have a bit of a problem with Alien Ant Farm's cover of "Smooth Criminal". It's not a bad cover as such, but the problem is that, while adding a bit of heavy guitar gave the song a bit of power, the vocals are much worse than on Jacko's original. So you end up with a mixture of better and worse...

Joe's and Jason's best shows are often not when they are covering particular albums or rating all the albums of a particular band, but when they do these outside-the-box shows. I guess an upcoming show could be best covers. Last Kiss is a good cover, and I am not a fan of Pearl Jam. Life is a Highway is not a good cover, thanks to the "funny sounding" vocals (right, Jason); Trivium's cover of REM couldn't be worse.

I enjoyed this and agreed with almost everything you did here EXCEPT Bowie's cover of God Only Knows. The musical tracks are processed Muzak and his vocals sound like cheap imitation karaoke. Dreadful. Joe not wanting to even bother to explain Maroon 5's cover made me laugh out loud.

“Blue Monday” must be in my top 10 favorite songs ever written. Orgy’s cover is no slouch. (The late 90s were weird times.) You can trace so many of my favorite artists by following New Order’s lineage back to their influences and forward to their protégés.

Some people , to this day , only know "Whip It". (Not a great song) . PATTI SMITH : To this day, there are people who only know "Because the Night". (not a bad song but FAR from her best). I haven't heard most of these covers, but with the exception of Elton John and Bowie I am not a fan of any of the artists on this list. When I think of bad covers the first one that comes to mind is Guns N' Roses cover of Knocking On Heaven's Door. I also think Axl Rose is one of the worst singers I've ever heard, kind of a cross between a psychotic grandmother and the cat she is frying on the stove. Granted it's not Dylan's best tune, but it was written for the film Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid and works well in that context. My second choice is Higher Ground by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Cannot stand either group. I'll amend that statement; members of both bands have done good work elsewhere, but their singers drive me up the wall. And many of the RHCP lyrics are a laugh riot.

The worst two covers of all time have to be Behind blue eyes by Limp Bizkit and Johnny B Goode by Judas Priest. And though not on any LP, the live version of You shook me all night long by Céline Dion is about as awful.

The Madonna cover is the absolute worst. The song is a protest to the loss of innocence in popular music. Nobody in history contributed more to that loss than Madonna and she seems to have completely missed that point. I didn't know about the Brett Michaels one. Now I have to torture myself with it.

Mmm buttrock... the worst genre of music ever? Yeh. Out of those covers... I can't believe I am saying this... I think Limp Biskit is the best (of the buttrock not the entire list). I do think American Pie is a level worse than you had it. I do like the Pearl Jam song and The Atari's, but prefer covers that do something different like Kate Bush's Rocket Man or Sonic Youth's Superstar. There are a few here I haven't heard. I may just have to hear snipets to judge for myself.

I'm no fan of Disturbed but that cover of SOS is exceptional - giving credit where credit is due. The overexposure to it is the problem. People just got really sick of it fast because it was everywhere.

I’m a huge Beach Boys fan, but their cover of Crocodile Rock is beyond lame. The video doesn’t help it either.
