Was working but can't see power LED. It's dangerous to leave on all the time so I broke it trying to modify. Don't try to modify this one and you might be OK. 3D printed body seems weak. If you point this to your head it will likely cause hearing damage. #turbo #fan #110000

The weird texture on some of the housing is from where it was touching to build plate on the printer for adhesion. The line on the cone is not a defect, it’s called a Z seam. I’ve got 3 3D printers and I’m still not exactly sure what causes this but I think it has something to do with the fact the print head rises up after each layer and kind of “catches” while doing so. There’s a setting you can change that randomizes the layer, but in my experience it just looks worse.

it would be a better representation of sound levels if you dont aim towards the mic of the phone. but the thing looks pretty cool

I was trying to get a reading as if the phone was your head. Some people will use this as a hair dryer and go deaf probably.

@@smallmodelcollector ah fairs. It's just that the turbulence in the cavity of where the mic is causing most of that noise. But anyways. If someone uses this to dry their hair. It's your fault😂

Right, got ya. Seems this was very loud even when pointed at the wind meter. These are impressive motors; I just need to find a better design that is reliable.

Y'all dumb AF, trying to measure dB with a phone app is like measuring voltage with your tongue. Although if he had a real dB meter that's sound advice, point away from it.

I think The electronics were soldered and mounted when the housing was half-way printed. I sometimes pause my prints to embed nuts / Magnets in the printed parts.

What I hate about these is the way you control the speed. It's not ergonomic. Why has no one made one with a variable trigger like you'd get in a drill?

definitely wouldn't trust that 3d printed shell to contain the 110000rpm motor. One bump and a slight misalignment will probably turn that thing into a fragment grenade.

OMG ... just ordinary AC brushless motor with turbine fan and dc/ac regulator, similiar are commonly used in RC hobby. Nothing special, just stupid way how to damage it. To generate servo input on speed regulator, something like mini servo tester is handy. Common cheap parts, and Li-Ion battery with charging circuit should work.
