Bad Driving in Philadelphia - Episode 1

I have had Philadelphia clips before, but they've been put into other videos. This time I had enough footage to make a full episode. I think I will be going to Philly enough in the future to be able to make this a series, but they will not be as common as the New Jersey episodes.
The driving culture in Philly is more or less a free-for-all. A lot of drivers just do whatever they want, when they want. It's also a pretty fast-paced and aggressive city to drive in, with plenty of horn honking! Which is pretty common for high-density population centers. I've seen similar things in New York City, Baltimore, Washington DC, Jersey City etc.

You know while you're honking all those idiots sitting in the intersection are sitting there thinking "where do you want me to go?". How about not blocking the intersection in the first place? You know by looking at the traffic ahead when you start rolling up if you will be able to clear the intersection or not. But then they might have to sit though another light, so they go the selfish route and block others from going through their green light.

Yes exactly! There's also usually the option to pull into the shoulder a bit to try getting out of the way.

Any time I hear about self driving cars offering taxi service in cities like NY, Philly, DC,… I just laugh at the image of some automated car trying to drive safely and obey all laws actually moving forward in so many situations. Not that I wish this but *only* if all cars are self driven and automated could it have a hope of succeeding.

@@DashCamOutEast 5:25 People using their horns, but especially for dangerous things. It's like an Orange County and Riverside city thing because I suppose drivers are concerned about road rage, ^especially in traffic congestion.

That makes sense. Certain areas are more prone to honking than others. I'm glad I am in an area where it's more common haha. But it also has the downside of people being desensitized to honking and not reacting.@@CluelessDriversInSoCal

My bad, I Meant calgary Isn't as bad as philly, but calgary, has been getting worse, my dad almost got the front end of our truck taken off by a caddy (also I Love the pilot, I want one when I get the money and a license)@@DashCamOutEast

0:40 my reaction to people who block me doing stupid things is to honk until they are no longer blocking me. So, my honk in this clip would probably be a good 5-10 secs. 2:30 probably the only effective solution to this kind of traffic cheating is photo enforcement. 3:05 obviously not enough red light cameras in the city. It's even worse that they're a commercial driver. They probably drive like this all day every day. 5:10 the Reverse of Shame, lol

0:40 That's usually how I do it too. My wife is a lot more patient than me lol 2:30 I agree. 3:05 the way people just keep going. It's so frustrating. 5:10 at that point they probably should have just committed to the turn lol

I agree with the camera enforcement for this stuff... the only issue is in Philly is everyone is driving around with fake tags right now, so they'll just be taking pictures of random unregistered cars. I'm sure if they start actually pulling people over for that again, people will stop doing other stupid moves like passing traffic and red lights.

@@PhillyDashcam yeah since moving to NJ, I just assumed that NYC and North Jersey were the worst. They probably still are, but I see Philly in a whole new light now lol. It's kind of a toss up now.

I think it's like NJ, where it has to say "no right on red" for it to be illegal. This intersection did have that sign.

Driving in Philadelphia sucks EVERYDAY! My BP is always high 🤡’s cutting you off or everyone is stopped at a red light 🤡’s driving on the side of the road going up to the front of the line, blowing past red lights and stop signs or swerving in your lane to avoid manhole covers it’s insanity & horn blowing is constant . There’s NO brotherly love here…If you can drive here you can drive anywhere

Yeah it's no joke driving here! I'm glad I had practice driving in North Jersey and NYC before coming down to this area. It's a toss-up on which area has worse drivers.

@@DashCamOutEast I moved here from Louisiana and it blows my mind how when a car is stopped to turn left everyone goes around even the cops… I’ll never get used to it

@@louiZiana-Gurl I got used to that pretty quickly. I don't mind it, it's an efficient way to keep traffic moving. What I can't stand is when someone is making a right turn and people behind them go into the oncoming lanes to get around.

@@DashCamOutEast I have seen that and it’s insane I moved across to NJ bc they busted my windows and stole get back passenger door off my vehicle and I was paying high dollar to live in a gated community. There are still 🤡’s over here but not as bad IMO gotta drive to Philadelphia tonight and I’m dreading it as soon as you get off the Tacony bridge let the madness begin 😵‍💫

I take it you're in South Jersey? So am I. I lived in North Jersey for about 6 years before moving down here. It's a lot less hectic, until you start getting closer to Philly. @@louiZiana-Gurl
