Reiterating President Rodrigo Duterte's position against libel amid concerns raised on the freedom of expression and a free press in the country following the conviction of Rappler chief Maria Ressa and her former staff for cyberlibel, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Wednesday the Manila court's verdict stemmed from "bad journalism and bad lawyering."

Grabe pinagtulungan nila ng husto si CJ Corona..nakakaawa yung tao, na-black propaganda. May napanood ako d2 sa YT, sinabi ni Corona na ang totoong dahilan daw kung bat ginagawa sa kanya yun at iniimpeach siya ay yung issue ng hacienda luisita...para hindi matuloy yung land reform program at maibahagi sa mga nararapat yung lupa.

You influence someone to take your side and decide in your favor when you appoint her husband to a government position. The least thing this judge should have done was to inhibit herself so that another judge who will not be tainted with bias and prejudice could decide the case in a more judicious and conscientious manner.

I guess the real thing here is that Keng wants his name cleared, including his businesses which got dragged down because of the false information and fake reports about him. Filing a libel case against someone who makes you look bad when you actually aren't is but right.

I was waiting for Karen to ask Roque to clarify what he meant by "bad journalism and bad lawyering". This is relevant to better appreciate the issue at hand, conviction of Ressa. It looks like Karen is focusing on speculative and perceptive line of questioning; and that is not good for public consumption. .

Journalists are expected to be accurate and fair with their work. They should be upholding and practicing their Code of Ethics. I’ve been reading articles on Ressa’s case and I believe Keng has all the rights to sue her. If only she did her job right, then the “jail time” shouldn’t have taken place - considering that Rappler was given some time to take down articles of wrong accusations against Keng, the “the real victim” on what had happened.

Rappler is said to be an online news website. It is neither a daily newspaper nor a magazine or serial publication. That being the case, accused Maria Ressa should not have been convicted for lack of direct participation in the act complained of.

I appeal to you Maria Ressa to stop playing the victim on this conviction. Your business has been accused of irresponsibility. That is what you need to discuss when you are being interviewed. Not the govt, not press freedom. And excuse me, i know my rights very much that I can file a case to a journalist in an image like yourself that damages the Philippine constitution.

Karen can be compared to the hands of a chef which is nearly numb to the heat of the pan. She has been burned in her own "show" multiple times already but being numb as a case of a dumb journalist, she developed a poor taste of how to have a decent interview. That is my observation.

Libel under the revised penal code (rpc) prescribes in one year, cyber libel which is under a special law is said to prescribe in twelve years. It is only the Supreme Court which could determine with finality the prescriptive period for cyber libel whether one year or twelve years.

Di dapat Reporter o Press ang tawag sa mga taong ito na walang integrity sa pagbabalita.... Dapat dyan PROFESSIONAL TSISMOSA (tsismosang may sahod). Wala naman yan pagkakaiba sa mga tsismosa sa kanto kundi may sahod sila pero parehong walang katotohanan ang binabalita at walang intergrity ang source at nagbabalita.

The case is all about cyberlibel. And the Court has resolved this case in favor of the complainant. So be it. On the other hand, Ms. Ressa can bring her case & cause all the way to the Supreme Court on the matter if she wishes to as it is also her right to be heard. In the meantime, let the resolution of the Court be executed.

Just simply empathize with Mr. Keng and then empathize with Rappler. Kung matino kang tao, alam mo Kung san ka lulugar. Mga supporter lang naman ni Ms. ressa jan eh mga friends, former classmates, acquaintance, at relatives nya eh. They grew akin to people they socialize with in their high society parties. Wag dapat ganun, remember, pangalan nyo lang ang madadala nyo sa puntod nyo.

I think Karen lost her train of thought and Mr. Roque had to fill her in. Talk about bad journalism! Does Karen smoke? Her voice is so rough like one who chain-smokes packs of cigarettes daily and it prevents her from getting the questions out in one go. I don't live in the Philippines but doesn't she just interview "show biz" kagaya ni Boy Abunda? She is in over her head here. Indeterminate, Karen. Indeterminate. Your "bad eyes" only missed that one word because you do not know the definition or whatever. Roque saved you by filling in your lost question. These are all leading questions, leading away from the fact that it was a poor defense of a poorly written libelous article that severely caused injury to Wilfredo Keng's reputation.
