"The singer MILLIE SMALL has died on May 5th at the age of 73. Best known for her 1964 recording of "My Boy Lollipop" - which peaked at UK #2 in May of that year, & remains one of the biggest-selling ska songs of all time."

It's my B-Day, 3 years of age when she died. I was born 5:30 am and all I remember was that I was singing Elton John's SKYLINE PIGEON during those times. May bee she didn't really passed away but lived on with the music

3/5/2023 I was 10 in 1964 & I went nuts for this song! Played the grooves off my 45. 1964 also gave me/the world The Beatles. Millie Small was my into to Jamaican music, which caused me to fall in love with Bob Marley when I first heard him around 1969 (I was a Hippie by the. Great times! Ganja Rasta! ✌️) He was still very much alive then..🤗 The 6Os was a GREAT decade. The next GREAT decade - the 80s - brought me ROCKSTEADY, SKA, TWO TONE, etc, via #KROQ in LA, CA. What fun! ~~ I'm saddened to learn Millie Small died. Her song always puts a smile on my face & i will always be grateful for that. RIP Millie Small, thank you for sharing your gift of talent. ❤️🌹

Would you know why I can't find the un-remixed version of My Girl Lollipop by Bad Manners. All MP3's I find are the remix version. The remixed versions don't sound like the original release from 1982.

The original was "My Girl Lollypop" by the Cadillacs. It was written by Robert Spencer of the Cadillacs

Alison Jones & I have just got back from watching him perform at the Havering Town Show, Harow Lodge Park, Hornchurch, Essex, (August Bank Holiday Monday, 2015, U.K) a very good time we had. Douglas Trendle, better known as Buster Bloodvessel, is an English singer and the frontman of the ska revival band Bad Manners. His stage name was taken from the bus conductor played by Ivor Cutler in the Beatles' 1967 film Magical Mystery Tour. Born: September 6, 1958 (age 56), London Borough of Hackney

I can imagine. In one month in the 80's I saw The English Beat AND The Stray Cats. People started dancing all over the place, and the audience was only pursuaded to go home when management informed us that, like Elvis, the bands had left the building. God, what I'd give to be 25 for one day and catch them on a double-bill concert :) Peace, love and sharing joints with strangers ...

Brad Ley I see your Led Zeppelin and The Beatles and raise you Aretha Franklin, The Allman Brothers Band, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, etc. Pretty much the pantheon of great American artists. To imply that Americans haven't made their fair share of classic music is patently absurd. Hell, The Stones, Beatles, Bluesbreakers et al wouldn't have existed without Muddy Waters or Chuck Berry. Get educated, man.
