First generation of S40, S60, and S80 remain as some of my favorite sedan designs ever. That Volvo shoulder line is just perfection.

Very sad to see this beautiful car go. Something about the confident stance has always reminded me of the elegant, purposeful-looking BMWs of the early 2000s.

We had a black S60 from new which we kept for 13 years. It had the larger Tethis wheels & space ball gear lever. Loved that you appreciated the rear lights & strong shoulder design & the rear C pillar as much as I did.

i just purchased 2019 S60 R, with Polestar Engineering. Black on black. Easily the best looking most overlooked sedan. Such a shame to see it go.

My mom had a red, 2003 Volvo V70 with tan interior and man seeing the interior of that S60 takes me back because of how similar it is. She drove that thing for 20 years and just traded it in last year for a XC40, which just doesn't have the same character or personality

Same situation in the UK. No more saloons, hatchbacks are disappearing left right and centre. Most cars you see out on the road now are crossovers

SUV market is in high demand. I’m tired of these sedans and coupes being discontinued with the current market buyers wanting a suv and not a traditional car like a sedan/coupe. Bring back the wagons please. I want to throw up every time I see a suv 🚙 everywhere.

My neighbour has an S60 and it's so beautiful. In person the front part of the car looks sporty but not BMW like aggressive, clean but not simple like a Tesla. It's just perfect and mature.

This is just how things are now, everyone wants SUVs or pickup trucks. In the UK Volvo doesn't sell any sedans anymore either sadly.

I live in Japan and rarely see the sedans. I LOVE Volvo design but honestly always find the sedans to be quite pedestrian. The estates are gorgeous and the XC90 is so stately. No surprise they are cancelling in the USA.

I really like those Pontiac sketches. The cleaning lines of this Volvo makes it a favourite one.

I remember my first Volvo. An S40 2002 model . I was 27 years old. My boss was horrified. His comment was “ is just such a safe and boring choice for a young man” And I also remember the word dull being thrown around the office . 😀😀

It will probably only come a an electric car here since it was technically do for a refresh and sales were low. It probably didn't make sense to keep around as the capacity would be better served by products with a higher price point. I do hope it comes back though

They should've thrown a proper engine in it. Nobody wants to pay premium for a 4-banger.

Well sad to see this one go. At least we will still have the v60 here, though people just don’t buy it. I see less V60 and V90 than 911s on the road, so my guess it’s they won’t be here for long as well…

I hate car companies and buyers nowadays. We in Australia have already gone through this with the Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore (check those out!), and it's just tragic that companies have no faith in cars with artistic and mechanical integrity. Except for Toyota/Lexus, they're all right.

I was at World of Volvo in Sweden this past week. Volvo design are so so beautiful, elegant while still mantaining sportiness. I saw a few mint new S60 and I was a happy person! So stunning!

If volvo offered this with a C Class-esque RWD platform, it'd be the best compact saloon car money can buy.

They did sell the manual t5 in the states and ive been looking for the wagon. Almost impossible, they must be extremely rare and if they do come up its got 300k on the odometer. Maybe the sedan is easier but be prepared to look for a while

I like Volvo as a company but I hate the direction the company is going. I like the boxy wagons they made in the 80’s and 90’s and I own a 2000 V70R myself but these days Volvo makes weird electric things and a bunch of crossovers. I miss the was Volvo use to be. Sucks we lost another sedan to the SUVs.

My dad used to have a baby blue 2007 C70 and it still looked like a new car….until my brother thought he could “fix” the hardtop convertible mechanism and completely destroyed the car 🙃

I hate that in Sweden Volvo has removed the Cross country and mildhybrids models but its in sweden where the cross country models sell the best and now in Sweden you can only build your own car as an EV or plug in hybrid no normal petoles anymore in Sweden only for dealerships and retail.

I have 3litre diesel in a limo...without that I wouldn't buy a sedan...so this S60 was never good enough for me Poor engine choices (T8 is not sporty and the top speed limit to 112mph/180kmh is funny in Europe)

Volvo has been taking a lot strange decisions lately. They removed v60cc and v90cc from the offer, they stopped offering diesel engines in Europe that constituted 50% of sales, and they want to stop offering combustion engines from from 2030, when all other brands abandoned ideas .

The only way to save the car/wagon is regulation. For non-commercial vehicles, higher hood height = higher taxation for buyers and producers. Then watch how automakers start shifting their advertising to show how cool wagons are!

I’ve owned 7 Volvos and I work on them professionally. They are not that reliable and the build quality is slightly below Audi. They require more maintenance than most vehicles with the same level of technology.

I really wonder who is making decision of which car to import? Is it mostly up to manufacturers? Or there are laws? Is the sales number really that bad so they decides to not sell hatch backs like AMG A45 and BMW 1 series? And S60? I just went to test drive the hybrid S60 a while ago, after seeing topherdrives’ video, a really underrated powerful car, not for me but if non-car people like my parents are in the market, I would for sure consider the S60

My dad had a S60. Worst car to ever enter the driveway. Left us stranded and was such a overly engineered mess. I could do a jig. Im genuinely so happy this car was killed off. Never said that about any other model to ever exist. Even ugly cars. Such a shame that it is still available elsewhere in other markets. We dont really see the point in buying a sedan ever again. We have had two Camrys after the S60. They are fine but not good enough to buy again. These cars are SLAMMED to the ground. Hyper impractical in our areas. Been a issue a few times. Can barely clear every day curbs. The roof line is so low. We arent tall but our heads are so close to the roof. My head hits the ceiling in the back of most sedans I sit in. They feel like dungeons. Trunks are pretty impractical. A hatchback, CUV, wagon, MPV makes much more sense. If you want sportiness buy a coupe. The sedan body style just makes no sense when you really think about it.

Volvo Cars have lost their strategy COMPLETELY today... the company will go bankrupt with this BEV hype and they will not want to realize reality at all that they have to keep petrol, diesel and PHEVs even long after 2030... also their design philosophy with the interior is garbage too after SPA1 I will be so mad if the board fucks up the company with bankruptcy... Volvo was Volvo until 2018-2019 with everything from R, to T5-R, Polestar cars with 6-cyl and 4-cyl, SPA1 platform and all of it. There is so much history and emotion to this brand. After 2019 their strategy is totally down the drain...

The S60 tried to beat the 3 Series and couldn’t because the 4 cylinder engine and suspension dynamics were not good enough. If they were this vehicle would be unbeatable.. I have a V60 polestar- loved it but was just not as good a the 3 series.

Yeah, Volvo has been dying for years. In Gothenburg they’ve closed the original museum which included the 850 BTCC and other works of arts, and opened «the world of Volvo» which is basically just a conference center that focus on philosophical bs.

I believe sedans, even more generic and "bland" models are more beautiful than SUVs. At the end of the day, you're talking about a vehicle that averages the same length range of an SUV but is notably shallower. They're inherently sleek. SUVs are inherently bulbous stout stubby and blob like in comparison. I get SUVs are the craze now, but I personally care about the proportions of a vehicle enough to where I see many crossovers take sedan design language and just bloat or stretch it upwards, it doesn't look nearly as good. I'm always perplexed why so many americans now think of SUVs in a superior way to the imo classier look of most sedans.

Its the infrastructure in the unites states. The pot holes, high curbs, speed bumps, broken concrete paver slabs, etc plauge the united states everywhere. Its rare we have a smooth road anymore that doesnt rattle your teeth in a sedan. Hence why people love SUVs. Also, the high seating allows for more confident visibility. Sedans will only come back if we improve our roads Cuz lets face it our streets are pretty much turning into offroad trails
