I once had two women, take up the space of the pavement in front with their dog. I refused to go into the road. The dog went flying as I booted it to the left of me. These two women expected me to go into the road. Walking mental cases. When confronted with people blocking the pavement, without a dog, I stand in front of them, refuse to move. They eventually move, shocked as they are that I did not give way to them.

We have temporary speed restrictions around schools morning and afternoon, usually down from 50 to 40kmph, often employing electronic speed signs. I was heading to a school to do some enforcement when I found one of my colleagues had been pulled over by the police for speeding through the school zone, having not seen the restriction. I told him he was supposed to be handing out tickets not collecting them.

Excellent as usual, the blue BMW that took part of the left lane to turn right actually is a bit of a change. Near where I live are two sets of traffic lights that have a left turn, as you can imagine you have to stay in right hand lane to go straight on with these lights. Almost daily you will see the left hand lane turners pull right before turning left, as you say "why is that". I can never understand why drivers bear right before taking a left turn, sometimes almost hitting the vehicle beside them to their right!

Well done on finding The One! 😂 I had a long-standing joke about everyone's favourite German car - What do you call an Audi driver who indicates and acknowledges? A car thief 🙂 I'm with you on the pedestrians crossing thing, see it so many times myself. They'll happily stand 5-10 yards away from an actual crossing and can be there for a good couple of minutes or even more, doesn't occur to them that if they just take a few paces along the road the traffic will stop for them! As for the muppets standing next to the crossing but just chatting, not actually wanting to cross, you get the same thing in shops too! People standing close enough to the queue that you think they're part of it till they eventually say "Oh, I'm not in the queue". So move away from the fucking queue then! 🙄🤦‍♂

Hi there Mr. dash cam, just to clarify e-bike laws state that the motor must not be more than 250 watts, the bike must be peddle assist only, (no throttle) and the bike cannot excide more than 15.5 mph, in my opinion this is so silly as these lycra clad cyclists often exceed this speed with pedaling alone and a 250 watt motor is tiny. a push bike is governed by road traffic laws why are electric bikes not the same?
@engineeredlifeform
@engineeredlifeform Жыл бұрын
One small correction, we are allowed a throttle / push to go button that can take us from 0 to 3.7mph (6kph) but then it has to cut out. I think the 250W limit is set because that's what the average cyclist could generate. I think the top speed should be 20mph in the UK as many urban speed resrtictions are set to 20mph so it would help keep up with the traffic.

In your defence, with note for the cyclist walking against traffic flow in the road with a child, he should not have been doing that 100% it's dangerous, he should have been on the footpath, the cyclist was on a blind bend, and you only had roughly two or three seconds to react, in my opinion the cyclist was 100% to blame so stop blaming yourself for someone else's stupidity, it wasn't your fault you had to take him close with a vehicle approaching from the other direction either that or you'd have to brake heavily or swerve either of which could have caused an accident.

With the "electric bike", I think it's basically a power assisted bike, meaning, if you don't pedal it won't move. It will only assist with pedalling, it won't power itself.Where I live I tend to see versions of these for mountain biking or cross country cycling and are used by those who want to stay in the sport but may be feeling their age, or perhaps dont have the physical capacity to ride with their friends without it. I guess there are "urban" variations like you've recorded, but hope/guess these operate in the same way. I don't think e-bikes that can power themselves without rider input are considered "legal".

BOTH places have zebra crossings and highlighted areas where pedestrians should walk. However, I am constantly having to stop for pedestrians (individuals, families, teens etc) walking across the "road" / "car" area without a care. Very similar to the video scenarios we see here but just in the confines of the car park. So my question is, should we expect this since people are shopping and this will happen since its a car park? OR do the same rules apply? Would appreciate peoples insights/opinions/experiences please.

Within the time spent looking at the black stuff, I have noticed the odd and spectacular sets of the public skill set. One skill is to go the speed limit, no worries here. I will follow the "2sec rule" and have done with it. All happy. NO! Wait, there's a car coming the other way equipped with lights on the roof. At which point the driver of the car in front hits the brake pedal. Then looks again at the speedo, which by now is around 30% if the speed limit. Then buries his/her foot and the accelerator pedal to make up for any lost time. Saw this many times. I, Am of the thought that speed camera’s do not slow speeders down. The sight of a highway patrol officer on the road, that’s effective.

To confirm others answers on UK e-bike regulations, they are 'electrically assisted pedal cycles'. The maximum motor size and power is 250W, and maximum poweed speed is 15.5 mph. Throttle only control is restricted to walking pace. Any faster then it is classified as a motorised vehicle, and needs to registered as such. The design of some e-bikes makes them look like mopeds.

The highway code states that you should face oncoming traffic when either no footpath or a very narrow one, this reduces the risk of being hit from behind, as for the crossing i admit it was not the best place to stop for a chat...however you should always be prepared for pedestrians to do the unexpected...another point your improper use of your horn in the first clip, there was no real reason for that...seems to be mild case of road rage....as to the delivery bike...it appears to be a electrical assisted bike...no problem unless it exceeds a certain speed, maybe she should have hi viz and helmet, and the car passing the bus may have caused you a slight inconvenience, however drivers do this as many people exit the front of the bus and then proceed to cross in front of said bus , applying this approach gives a driver better chance of avoiding colliding with a person who carries out this silly risk....again you do seem to have mild road rage at things that you maybe do not fully understand...yes things are annoying but when were perfect then its time to come on here and become a critic

I could manoeuvre a 40 footer without doing that. But the reason I like your videos is that every now and again, as I used to live in the North Surrey - South London area, but now don`t, you go past somewhere that brings back memories. This one was at the crossing on the roundabout above the Ace of Spades underpass on the A3, Kingston bypass. As a bit of a speed freak in the 60`s, it was a challenge to hammer through the underpass as fast as possible, making as much noise as possible. Just like the old "mad mile" on the A127 at Banstead. Re. the 07.00 Audi. If he'd had a heavy session the night before could well still be over the drink (or drug) limit. Given he's in an Audi he is probably arrogant enough not to be concerned with such trifles.

0:15 The first thing to teach a learner driver is the blind zone. That area around the vehicle that you can't see from behind the wheel. It helps them to understand to steer my aim instead of avoidance. This driver has never been taught that and will probably avoid traffic islands by a margin his whole life ...

On that bus there could have been a passenger alighting from and passing in front of the bus, both invisible to each other, WVM went wide to negate that. imo

The electric bike with the girl on the phone is legal (the bike not the girl on the phone, that's still illegal). It's classed as an electrically assisted bicycle, even though it looks like a motor scooter. To comply with this bicycle law, they must be able to be peddled, have a top speed of 15 MPH, and have a motor of no more than 250 Watts.

No unit that makes the sound of a V8 engine with some added rumble on your electric car? I would have fun creeping upto people and giving that a blast.

11:15. I know what you mean about passing wide but once you’ve had a bus pull out on you, or you’ve had a kid run out in front of one, then it’s what you tend to do.

Since they put 'strobe' indicators as an option (all Audi owners take all options) Audis now indicate.

I never realised you had an electric car, explains the pedestrians not noticing you. A real quick tap on the horn (where legal) to let them know you are there is exactly what the horn is for. Most people think it is a reprimand but it just means "I'm here" like light flashing your lights and totally legitimate to do if a pedestrian hasn't seen you and more necessary in an electric vehicle where they cannot hear engine noise

That 'cyclist' at the start was in the wrong, especially with a child on the back of the bike. The sensible thing to do would have been to use the wider path on the other side. Looks like we both encountered good Audi drivers today. Of all the cars that couldn't be bothered to let me out of a side road into heavy traffic, a kind driver in an Audi jeep let me out. He got an extra thank you for that. Further up, I did a good deed by letting a car turn into a housing estate. There wasn't so much as an acknowledgement from her. Those electric bikes are probably legal. Though, I never saw one like that before. I have a big issue with electric scooters, though. I can't stand them!

Pedestrians are perfectly free to use any part of the road. Motor vehicles are the danger so the onus is on the driver to not hit pedestrians going about their lawful business. Rule H2 "Pedestrians may use any part of the road". In law a person pushing a bicycle counts as a pedestrian - Crank v Brooks
