That wasn't all that uncommon back then tho.... Dru Hill was still in highschool when they first dropped as well.... It was more profitable for labels to "Catch em young" in order to rope them into bs deals (which is why a lot of those groups from our time and earlier, went through a lot of financial trouble later in their careers 😔)

Love really mattered when I was growing up songs like this brought the best out of worst in you it brought along of people together people that are still in love and together married. 1997, one of my best friends in HS was a girl name Nicole. She was like a sister, I always ran to her about girl problems and she would talk with me about boys. Went like this all the way thru HS, I was a year a head of her so I went off to college and after 3 yrs of seeing each other every single day we were apart. I player football in college so with school my days and nights were pretty tight. Well she sent me a picture in my HS Letterman jacket and I hung it up waiting to hang out with my buddy soon. Season ended and she came up to visit with one of our other Friends. The moment I seen her this song popped in my head, OMG IM IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND. I never told her. I wasn't the cute QB or Running back, I was a lineman (and a dam good one) and had allot of friends that were girls. Big strong guy, the protector, the friend. If i said I liked them or if someone said "you too would look cute together" or emply we were together they would move away from me and disappear from my life leaving me heart broken. because of this and being young i never told her, I couldn't lose her. 25 yrs and we're still friends. Iv moved away, we both got married, had kids. We didn't see each other in almost 10yrs but she came up with her family for my son's HS graduation 😋 it was like being in HS all over again.
