As always, simple yet stunning. That winged look for the eye make-up is 10/10. Will definitely try and incorporate this as a softer approach to smoky eyes (light tones instead of dark but with a killer line). Hey, why save this for a wedding, right? 😅

Thank you for acknowledging that the false lashes might detract from the (beautiful) eye shadow job you did- even though in this case it looks fine. I see SO MANY tutorials where someone put a ton of effort into doing a beautiful eyeshadow application and then go and plop some ridiculous looking false lashes on top, totally obscuring the lovely work they put into their shadow. Kind of tired of false lashes in general, so I'm sure that's contributing to my observation. Love your work Alex!

Omg you look SO stunning with this look! Quick question: how do you know when you’ve overdone it with darker colors/bold styles? I often feel like a clown when I try to go for a dark eyeshadow or bold liner. How did you find that balance between artistic expression vs looking intentional and put-together?

Just throwing this out there, I feel like so much of a bold look comes from your energy of just loving it and feeling happy that you did it. Additionally, if you did bright colors and dark liner but then wore clothing that was a little bit more of a Christopher & Banks 2002 twin linen set with giraffes embroidered on it, it might make the bold look even BOLDER. I like bold makeup with a dressy, ruffle blouse and flare jeans and wedge sandals. I think it's just about taking joy in crafting a whole entire look and vibe. Man...that was long. Good luck on the journey!

I love watching your process. So do we get a colorful one now? I'm curious how you would incorporate color but keep it timeless. And if you have any friends with deeper skin tones, I'd love to see how you'd do their makeup. Somehow it's more helpful to watch a non-pro do things. I guess you don't take for granted details/methods that a pro might not think to explain.

Seriously thank you for showing a look like this!! I’m definitely going to try an eye look like this-I may adjust a bit because I have smaller eyes and want them to look defined, but also open. I’ve been trying to do eyeshadow like how I used to-more colors and blending with more depth. Also i think I’ve finally found my base products but am still trying to find a concealer that doesn’t look dry in under eyes. Seriously, your bridal videos have kickstarted me to work on this now!

Oh I love the wet n wild primer! I mix it with a tiny bit of the ELF hydrating camo concealer in light beige to make my perfect light olive foundation shade.

Definitely pulling inspo from this and some products, eyes are a tiny bit heavier than I would do but I can absolutely use this as a general guide and just not go quite as dark, love it!

I loved the thumbnail! Thank you for using drugstore products. Some of them I didn't know existed and can't wait to search them out now, like the NYX contour stick. Also love that eyeshadow palette. I had to go check, but, yes, there is a search bar on your channel. Here, I just thought it was at the top of KZfaq. It is, but also on individual channels. i feel like your drugstore tutorials are gonna help out SO many people who arent as well off. weddings can already get quite expensive and something like this is awesome! it's also awesome for just makeup lovers in general who maybe dont have as much to fork out on higher end makeup/dont want to do so.
