I'm totally aware you probably know the fix for the BC error but who knows who will need it in the comments, so here goes: (method 3 has been an absolute savior for me, personally) 1. Batteries - try a new set if you can, if error persists... 2. Remove the lens and reattach after making sure contacts are good. If persists... 3. Remove the faceplate of the eos1n. Face the camera at you so you're looking at the mirror. To the top left of the mount there is a small plastic box that has a magnet. Hit that several with the screw driver you used to open it up, firm strikes but not fist of an angry god strikes. Check if shutter acutates. If persists... 4. Pray someone can diagnose/fix for less than the cost of a new one.
